On January 29, a charge from Green Chef was made to my Citicard. I received a notice from ********'s fraud department regarding the charge. This was a valuable notification, as I did not make the charge. Indeed, I did not know of this business before I saw the charge. I have never signed up on their site.I contacted the company by phone to explain the situation. The person with whom I spoke (who identified herself only as "May") indicated that they could see the charge and confirmed that I do not have an account, but they refused to take any action to reverse the charges. They said because I don't have an account, they cannot do anything! But they can mistakenly charge my card without an account, apparently.They told me to handle it through my bank. The problem with this is now I am cleaning up their mess! And there is a risk that I will have to have a new card issued due to this.I asked to be referred to the supervisor or someone else, but this was repeatedly refused by ***, who then hung up on me! Atrocious, aggressive customer service in response to an issue that was entirely on their side.Business Response

I never ordered anything from green chef yet they charged my credit card because they had it when I used Apple to sign in. The proof is there is no order history on my account. I never ordered. Their instructions on how to cancel a membership are bogus. Its not as described and I cannot figure out how to cancel the bogus account.Business Response

Used to be an old Customer logged on just to see if there were any discounts or any new things happening with green Chef. Then I got to log off three days later I get a charge on my account stating that I reactivated my with green chef. I did not OK the charge called up customer service. They told me as soon as I logged back onto my account. It activated my account. Theres nothing that they could do about canceling it. I placed an order for green chef for their discount on my next 5 boxes . The first box/week it was $34 I skipped the next week because the recipes were okay but not great. Then it automatically placed an order with no email reminder for $75 when my account was setup to have a discount. Within 1 hour of that order getting placed I cancelled the subscription and reached out to customer service the next day to try to cancel the order . **************** took about ************************** they cant cancel it when it shows it hasnt even shipped yet , customer service rep gave ***** excuse that the system gives an error message when trying to cancel but somehow is still able to offer to change the items in the box for me or ship to another address. This is poor business practice , way too expensive and bad customer service. Its obvious they are able to cancel the order but simply dont want to and make customers go to the extent of having to reach out to the BBB to get a refund.Business Response

I got a coupon in mail and applied it and reactivated my account. The first delivery showed a little over $20. I went into my bank account today and saw a $90 charge so called Green Chef and talked to ****** ******, No. ****** and he would not help me at all and said I had to have that code and I had thrown it away. I asked if he could check what they sent me or give me a different code and he said no, it was too late even though the money is pending in my bank account and it's 5 days out. I asked to speak to a manager and he refused and kept saying, is that all. I am very disappointed in customer service and the scam of showing the discount and next day not showing it.Business Response

They sent a message that they would credit me back and it showed they gave a credit in my bank and then they must have decided not to do it so now I am being charged again. They probably just did that so they look good but were not going to credit me.

I am filing a complaint today to warn other consumers that they will be charged for their first order even if they cancel their subscription. On 11/30/2023 I viewed Green Chef website for menu options. They make you enter your credit card to look. Very expensive and no menu items I liked. Cancelled subscription ON EXACT SAME DAY. They keep your card information in their system.Received email 12/9/23 that an order was on the way from Green Chef (remember, I canceled on 11/30/23). Checked my bank statement I was charged for the meals (on 12/05/23). Called Green Chef to get refund but told it was too late. Improper charges seem to be a recurring issue with this company. I spoke with *** who confirmed the account was deactivated on 11/30/23 and they charged my account on 12/05/23. He said they wouldnt do anything to help me.The food shipped and I was charged $298.75 on (12/05/23) for meals I didnt select AND after I canceled. Green Chef customer service said the system doesn't let them issue refunds. Explained I canceled on 11/30/23 and did not want the food. Told they can't help. ******** service agent was rude and refused to get me a supervisor.I disputed the charges with my bank and they opened an investigation. I was told today 1/8/24, the information Green Chef provided to bank is valid and their decision is for Green Chef. (Banks will do this when you use your debit card). This is a recurring complaint about Green Chef to BBB for this fraudulent act.I had to cancel my debit card to make sure they didn't do this again. There is no way to go in and remove your credit card information from Green Chef's website. Is this legal? So, I received an email saying they were issuing a refund
I checked my bank account and this is what they did on January 12, 2024:
As you can see, they did a claim reversal right after they deposited the refund into my account.
THEY STILL HAVE NOT ISSUED A REFUND.
I cannot believe how much time and energy I have expended to get this situation resolved - only for them to lie and deceive.
THIS COMPANY IS SUCH A CROOKED, FRAUDULENT COMPANY.
Please let this information be known on your website they lied.

I canceled my Greenchef subscription in February 13, 2023. I was recently interested to see if their menu selection changed. I visited their website on January 3, **** and I couldn't see the menu selection unless I created an account or logged in. Since it's been a while I had to reset my password. I went through the email and created a new password. I then proceeded to look at the menu options, then did not complete any transactions as my ********** were not interested in any of the options. I did receive an email later that day that I left some items in my cart. I did not revisit the site to complete the transaction or confirm any interest. Then on January 5, **** I was reviewing my **** statement and noticed that there was a $159.87 pending charge for Greenchef. I immediately went to my email and didn't see an order confirmation. I then went to their website and it stated that there is a box that will arrive on January 8 ****. I immediately tried to cancel and recognized it was past the deadline to impact this delivery. I called the Greenchef customer service #************** at 1:50 pm PST and ******* says there is a strict policy and there was nothing she could do. She hung up on me. I then called another Greenchef # ************** at 2:10 pm PST to talk to another rep and he said that there is nothing he can do. I explained to both that I did not agree to this box, I did not receive confirmation for the order. I asked for a reimbursement or if I can reject the delivery. They said they couldn't help. I stated that I appreciate that he is given a scripted response to reply with and he said that he had it memorized; I think he interpreted it that I was insinuating that he was reading response. I am extremely upset that I am going to be charged for something I don't want. What a scam.Business Response
