This business has been charging me for months! I have never used their services and I absolutely do not remember ever signing up in the first place. I am supposed to get a confirmation email and a refund, but I want to be sure this happens. I spoke with a representative on 1/31, but I have not received an email confirming what I was told over the phone.Business Response

Thank you for contacting us through the BBB. Contrary to your claim, you are familiar with us. We note that you intentionally signed up and immediately applied for our First Purchase Rebate (3403518772-7729534583) as a check to be sent to your home address by logging into your SmartyPlus account. The rebate was denied as you failed to provide a proof of purchase within the first 30 days of membership. We obtained user information directly from your inputted information after visiting a ******************************* Store site (bestbuy) on 24Aug2024. Someone clicked on our cash back rebate ad and filled out a multi-field signup form which included entering payment information. The last item to be completed is an "I agree" checkbox that requires user interaction to be clicked in order for the subscription to be activated and gives consent and authorization for us to charge the account. Next to that checkbox are disclosures stating the price to be charged and outlining our terms with links provided to the full text details. We also sent a welcome confirmation to the email address on file immediately after the last step is completed confirming the purchase. This signup flow is very clearly identified as belonging to us. It's very difficult to sign up with us inadvertently, unknowingly or unaware that there will be monthly charges incurred. We acknowledge your two prior phone calls to us on 31Jan2025. Please reach out directly to us for any further questions or concerns. Our contact information is prominently displayed on our website. For the convenience of our customers, we operate ******** telephone call & live chat services. We also respond promptly to emails.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: this response never assured me of the information their representatives gave me. Answer me clearly- is my membership cancelled? Will I be refunded like both representatives said?Instead of defending your sketchy business model, you need to stop tricking inadvertent customers. I looked this business up before filing a complaint, so their sassy response is not surprising. They use sneaky links on other company websites to trick you into signing up. And as the business said, I NEVER responded to any of their requests for engagement because I never wanted anything to do with this business. What an unethical way of being and a dishonesty between whoever replied to this BBB complaint and the representatives who were way nicer than this miserable person. CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION IMMEDIATELY. REFUND MY MONEY.
Sincerely,
Shekinah JordanBusiness Response

Nothing snarky or sketchy here. You previously applied for our $20 First Purchase Rebate (3403518772-7729534583) even disclosing your home address to us as to where to mail the rebate check yet, you continue to deny signing up with us. We obtained user information directly from your inputted information after visiting a ******************************* Store site (bestbuy) on 24Aug2024. Our signup flow is very clearly identified as belonging to us. It's very difficult to sign up with us inadvertently, unknowingly or unaware that there will be monthly charges incurred. We are pleased to offer refunds to any customers who are dissatisfied with our services for any reason and we acknowledge your two prior phone calls to us on 31Jan2025. At that time, your subscription was cancelled and payments returned.Initial Complaint

So basically I noticed that someone signed up for subscription from September to December and I noticed in late December so I contacted customer service saying that the transactions were not me so they temporarily gave me my money back for the four months I was charged. Then today I realized that they charged me for three months of that subscription so I called customer service and they told me that I was charged because the transactions were not fraudulent. But I want to cancel the subscription so i asked customer service if I can cancel the account or do anything to stop the subscription. Instead they told me that I have to contact the merchant myself in order to cancel it. I did and they said that they would send me an email saying that the subscription is canceled but because the account is not mine Im not going to be receiving the email. What if I get charged again. How do I stop the subscription from charging me.Business Response

Thank you for contacting us through the BBB. We note one prior call from you on 26Jan2025 at which time our agent could not locate the subscription. They changed my card and the charge continues. They need to stop charging my card. I did not request to do any business with this company. This company charged me despite that I have never heard of them never signed up for it, tried to cancel they said it was canceled and it is continuing to charge me. Unfortunately I can't go through my bank to cancel because they charge more per transaction they block than the company is pulling out. So now for all of time I will be charged a monthly fee for something I didn't sign up for and have never heard of. It has been $13 a month for over 6 months of this.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
I appreciate the refund and am sorry that I got the months wrong. Looking back and recounting it is less than 6 months, that was my bad for miscounting I should have double checked knowing that pregnancy brain seems to be making numbers harder to deal with. I would like to note that I do not sign up for subscriptions of any kind due to saving money as a preschool teacher with a bay on the way and that my info being entered in was not my doing. Again I thank you for taking the time to refund me.
Sincerely,
