Our office received an account from the creditor, ********************** with respect to this consumer in July 2021, for recovery of unpaid auto insurance premiums. Please note the balance due was never owed to Caine & Weiner. Initial correspondence was sent to the consumer. There is no record of return mail on file. The file is currently in a 'Paid in Full' status. The Progressive policy ending in **** was cancelled June 2021. Creditor records indicate coverage was provided for a 2015 Chrysler 200. The account is currently in a status of 'PIF' and all negative trade lines have been requested to be removed from the consumer's credit report. We are unsure as to how long it may take for the credit bureaus to update their records. We will submit an expedite in an attempt to expedite the process. Our office received an account from the creditor ********************* with respect to this consumer in September 2019 for recovery of unpaid auto insurance premiums. Initial correspondence was sent to the consumer at that time. There is no record of any return mail. Please note the balance due is not owed to Caine & Weiner. We are collecting on behalf of the creditor, Progressive. Progressive's records indicate the policy was canceled in August 2019. Progressive indicates coverage was provided for a 2015 Scion XB and a 2019 Ram **** on a policy ending in **** and that the final payment in June 2019 was insufficient to cover the premium balance due at the time of cancellation. Our records indicate that validation has been forwarded to the consumer numerous times. It has been ordered again for the consumer's perusal. again for review. Our records further indicate that the consumer forwarded personal documents in the past in an attempt to prove that our records do not match his records and both times it was researched and revealed the information was the same in our database as his provided information. The file is currently disputed in our records. A dispute will temporarily remove the negative trade line form the credit bureau. Once the investigation is completed the bureaus must be updated again if the results indicate the debt is valid. Our office will gladly review any documentation provided by the consumer with respect to the policy, vehicle, payment or coverage specifics for this account that *** indicate the creditor's records are not accurate. Caine and Wiener handled an insurance settlement between myself and a third party. Once the settlement was reach the 3rd party and my insurance directly agreed that no further action could be taken. Caine and wiener then put $7400 into collections on my credit report. ************************* ( who directly handled the settlement) refused to provide me with the bill for collections. Only after he sued me was I provided with the bill and realized that the majority of the charges where fraudulent. Of the $7400 that was placed on my credit report only $755.97 is remotely justifiable charges towards myself.Business Response

Our office is aware of the individual's dispute on this account. The file was originally sent to our office by the creditor ******* II ************* in June 2022. Our office did receive a settlement payment from the insurance company in August 2022. However, per creditor records that payment cleared only a portion of the balance due. There has been no lawsuit filed on this account. The account was turned over to a law firm for further review as per creditor parameters. We are aware that the individual does not believe the majority of the remaining balance is due and we are continuing to work with the law firm and the creditor to provide additional details supporting the balance. Additional correspondence will be provided to the individual once obtained. The consumer has been in recent communication with the law firm and we encourage ongoing dialogue as we assist all parties in working through the dispute. I am a victim of identity theft. I recently learned that my personal information was used to open an account at your company. I did not open or authorize this account, and I therefore request that it be closed immediately. Our office received an assigned account from the creditor, ********************** with respect to this consumer April 2019 for recovery of unpaid auto insurance premiums. Initial correspondence was sent to the consumer at that time. There is no record of any return mail. Please note the balance due is not owed to Caine & Weiner. Our records further indicate that validation was sent to the consumer as well. The account shows that it has been paid as a settlement. The Progressive policy was cancelled in February of 2019. Creditor records indicate coverage was provided for a 2013 Volkswagon Passat on a policy ending in **** and that the last payment made in November 2018 was insufficient to cover the remaining premium balance due at the time of cancellation. The account is currently coded as 'Settled' in our database. The credit bureau should reflect a status of settled. The consumer stated in her complaint that she was recently a victim of identity theft. This is not a recent debt. I had an old outstanding collection, that I made payment on around Jan 18th 2023. I was advised at the time I would receive an email advising payment had been made. I was advised I would receive confirmation the collection activities had been resolved and this would be reported to the credit bureau's. I was also advised I would recent confirmation the debt has been resolved in writing via Snail Mail. There is nowhere on the Caine and ****** site where I can confirm they have processed the payment and have yet to receive any confirmation or correspondence from this company. The only thing I have is a file number: 06306B. In the mean time this matter is affecting my FICO on all 3 reporting services.Business Response

After struggling to get a car loan after my already paid off car was totaled last year. After being denied over and over, i ended up with an interest rate of 21%. I thought this was due to having no credit history (because I do not like to spend money I don't have, so never had a credit card, paid off my first car in whole, etc.). However, after trying to apply for a credit card to improve my credit score after all the issues I had getting a car and the resulting ridiculously high interest rate I'm stuck with. The letter rejecting my request for the credit card claimed a reason was derogatory public record or collection item. Which I know is inaccurate because I have never not paid my bills or anything like that. I've never had any debt collectors or whatever contact me, or received anything in the mail about owing money to anyone for anything. I got my credit report and I have no idea what this adverse account is from. It says Caine & Weiner ********. It says date opened 10/31/2020, that it's an open account, it says loan type: *************************** that the balance & the amount that's past due is $346, the date updated is 12/24/2022, the pay status says collection, remarks says placed for collection, and it says original creditor is Progressive. None of that has any meaning or relation to me. I don't have any accounts or whatever with progressive. I don't know that any of my cars have ever been insured by progressive, unless my mom insured one of my cars using progressive when I was younger. This has nothing to do with me.Business Response

I contacted this collector in order to settle me debt in full. The creditor agreed to note my account for a courtesy delete and once paid in full, the collection would be removed from my credit report completely within 30 days. My account has been paid in full but instead of removing the account as agreed, the balance was updated to paid with a $0 balance, but has yet to be removed from my credit reporting accounts as agreed.Business Response

Caine and Weiner are violating my privacy rights by taking some other company opinions that ********************* companies gave my personal information that affect my credit. ********************* companies blame me for $163.64 that I dont owe them anything. After I canceled my insurance policy as soon as I lost my car. I have reached out to Caine & WEINER. They have failed to provide proof of validation regarding a debt that does not belong to me. They have furnished this alleged debt on my consumer report and have failed to validate the alleged claim pursuant to Sec. 809(b)of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and according you are required by federal law to verify, through the physical verification of the original signed consumer contract, any and all accounts that you post on a credit report. I demand this item be removed from my credit report immediately. Caine & WEINER you are furnishing inaccurate and incorrect information to the consumer reporting agencies. The reporting of such inaccurate information has caused severe damage to my character, my reputation, my general mode of living and my ability to obtain credit for personal and house purposes. You and your inaccurate reporting have damaged my daily lives . Code ******* - Responsibilities of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies Duty of furnishers of information to provide accurate information 1) Prohibition Reporting information with actual knowledge of errors A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. Duty of a moral or legal obligation; a responsibility Accurate: correct in all details; exact. Prohibition: a law or regulation forbidding to not frame or report before let the customer know. ******************** and ****** have said they sent mail that I wasnt respond to them. I did not receive any mail from them until they reported to My credit report and I called them to figure out what situations that they did not give me any proof that I owe them. Caine and ****** keep telling me to me to pay them by borrowing money from my family member. I explained them that I dont have any money to pay them that I am living by Food stamp (snap) benefits for almost a year due to my Disability that I got accident from Semi truck crashed last year. I dont have any cash income except snap benefits from my county, Caine and wiener did not care about my disability or health condition I tried to explained them. Caine and ****** keep calling my phone and advised me to borrow money from my family or whatever I did they only wanted their money.
