I purchased a membership with HelloTech. I canceled it almost immediately. HelloTech had misspelled my email address and so the monthly bill and all issues with the account were being sent to the wrong email address. I kept being charged for services that were not being delivered to me.Business Response

I had an appt booked for 6/27/23 at 10am. I received text at 9:34am that my tech is on the way. Tech did not show. I called and had to re-schedule for 5pm. The same tech that was assigned to the morning was assigned to the afternoon job even though I was told he would be blocked. At 5:06pm I received an email stating the tech was on the way but the same tech never showed again and just marked the job as unserviceable. I had to call yet again and had to reschedule again and before the call was complete I was hung up on. I was also offered a 15% credit for my inconvenience for the morning appt but when I received an updated invoice it was a 15% increase!Business Response

I had a technician come to install a tv on Friday evening. He showed up an hour and a half late. He had two TVs to mount per the job request. He managed to hang one in a very sloppy and mismanaged fashion after about two hours. He then came down and managed to put 11 holes in our brand new wall before he was ready to have me help him lift the tv and hoist it on the mount. As he was attempting to put the securing s**** on the tv, the mount ripped out of the wall and the tv mount and tv fell. He did not assess the situation of the wall and did not realize he was only screwed into drywall and had not even hit a stud during the 11 attempts that he drilled into previously. As a result, the tv and mount landed on my foot and took a large chunk out of the top of my foot and managed to do serious drywall damage to my wall. I immediately called hello tech and was referred to their tier 2 damage claim department. Since then Ive had two emails (a sentence or two each) with no direction and no correspondence on how to get my wall back to normal and get this tv situation fixed. I am beyond frustrated that its been four days and not one person has called to explain how they can fix this or what kind of insurance coverage they have to handle this incredibly unfortunate situation. As a result, I have resorted to filling out a BBB complaint in hopes of obtaining their attention to settle this matter once and for all.Business Response

I signed up for this service for a year. I used it 2-3 times. Techs were nice, did the job. After a year, I noticed I was still paying a monthly fee so I went in to cancel. I was told I cant cancel. It auto renews for A YEAR! A month. I could understand, I dont want to be forced into another year of payments by small print. Shady business dealings. I bought a Ring monitor and tried to find someone help me to install it in April 2023, then I found HelloTech in ******* It asked me to signup for a membership to use the service and I did. However, after the job was done and I realized I don't need further services, I want to cancel my subscription. I called HelloTech and was told that they can't cancel it since it is an annual contract. There is no way I would know that for any subscription I have to pay it throughout a year and can't cancel! I can't accept the result, $19.99 a month is quite a lot money for me and I have to pay it until April ****! Please help me to cancel my subscription.Initial Complaint

I was charged on 01/04/23 for a *********** Lock with Nest Connect with Installation - Satin Nickel in the amount of 01/04/23. On January 13th the door lock installer (*****) said the Lock didnt fit my door as there was a gap between the door and the lock. The installer informed me to return the item.I returned the item via *** and per tracking it was received by HelloTechs dock on 01/23/23.I have contacted them several times via online chat to inform them I have still not received a refund for the unusable device. They have told me via written chat that they would escalate and that I would get a refund or that there should be a turnaround time of ***** hrs.They have also been charging me a monthly membership of $4.99, which I didnt sign up for as far as Im aware. Especially since they are completely not providing service or customer care in any sort of way I shouldnt be charged for a service I didnt sign up for and am not receiving.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.The resolution is satisfactory only because I received a full refund for the returned item. However, HelloTechs handling of the matter even after I contacted the BBB was highly unprofessional. They asked me for email proof that HelloTech had received the return. This was the original problem - I had never received an email proof. Prior to contacting the BBB, there are documented chats that I had with HelloTechs chat representatives. I was told repeatedly that the matter would be escalated and that I would be contacted within 48 hrs. I was never contacted. I had to contact *** and get additional documentation that proved that the proof of receipt matched the tracking label originally provided by HelloTech via email. The *** documentation also listed the individual that signed for the package. HelloTech also refunded me the full monthly fees that they were charging me. However, I shouldve never been charged in the first place as I never signed up for monthly service. I certainly wasnt getting any sort of acceptable monthly service. Although this matter is closed, I would not recommend HelloTech to anyone and I dont think HelloTech deserves a high business rating.

I paid this company to have my tv mounted last year and I'm still being charged $19.99/month. I've attempted to cancel my membership multiple times. They refuse to cancel my membership, say that I opted into it, and that I must continue to pay them through December 2023. The terms and conditions were not clear and I see many other people have been targeted by this tactic. This is a scam that trapped me into monthly payments for a service I do not use.Business Response

HelloTech convinced me to buy annual membership for $19.99/month with option to cancel any time no questions asked. After 6 months as I did not benefit from their plan, I called HelloTech **************** to cancel the plan but they refused to do do. Also, as I logged on, there is no evidence of my membership, but they have been deducting $19.99 every month from my credit card.Business Response

My complaint with HelloTech is mostly the same as others who have been scammed by this company. You have to make your appointment on line, pay up front and promise the moon to get you hooked up with their membership plan. Not fully up front about the one year NO CANCEL policy. My service was in February2023. Asked for one on one instruction for a new Windows 11 computer. The young man sent was self conscious, would not look at me and went through motions of "finding" his way....just kept clicking on stuff until he got to wherever he was going. Left in a rush and never left a card, a name - nothing. I reported this on the survey I was requested to fill out. He did not know how to download/upload pictures or edit. It was a total waste of time and money and now they are demanding $19.99 per month for a full year!I tried cancelling to no avail and all they offered was anti virus which I already have and alot of "I'm sorries"....I want the account cancelled now.Business Response

I used HelloTech for a TV install and paid for the service (over $300). Then I started getting a monthly bill of $15! I called them up and tried to understand why I am continuing to be charged, and they said I had an annual membership (for further TV/install service discounts). Unfortunately I couldn't cancel because 'it was more than 30 days' ago. I escalated it to a manager and they said they could cancel my membership but would have to charge me $50 (for the 'discount' I received at sign up!. What a crock. So I ended up having to pay to cancel. I strongly recommend you DON'T do business with this service. Not to mention the service technician was also rude and tried to up-sell me a TV sound bar (from the back of his truck) for twice what it costs online, then he got defensive when I questioned him on it. I'm saying GOODBYE to 'HelloTech' and I strongly encourage others to never say Hello.Business Response
