    I use McAfee VirusScan Plus as offered via my **** subscription. I have had issues with the program for the last few months, trackers and temporary files are no longer removed. I downloaded the program again and there was no improvement. I called customer service on Jan 3, they downloaded again. Then they gave up, gave me a service number, and total me that "this is a ongoing issue that has no current resolution". I complained on FB and later today received a call from a person identifying themselves as part of the McAfee social media team. He wanted my service number and , then, to take over my computer. When I refused to allow him access, he wanted me to download a program (not a McAfee program)....I told him that I need to verify his identity before he could go any further. McAfee customer service now told me my ********************** subscription expired in 2022. She was unable to identify any info from the social media team. There were no replies on FB. Pretty sure I was just scammed by McAfee imposters. Nice situation when you are dealing with a SECURITY company!!

    SCAM! Not sure how they are a common company to hear about. Read the reviews below. My story is the same. Started a trail, wanted to cancel before being charged. Tried talking to customer service, very rude and incompetent/scamy lady who gave a huge run around only to be charged a week after for $96. Filed a dispute with my credit card company giving "confirmation" numbers from my call only to have the dispute reversed and have to pay the $96. DO NOT do anything with this horrible company!

    I subscribed to McAfee 3 years ago and received an 'auto-renewal' charge for $156.00 which I didnt recognize so I flagged with with my bank, they cancelled my card and sent me a new one. The first day I got my card back, the McAfee charge popped up again, afraid my new car was going to get cancelled again, I called McAfee and attempted to ensure my account was cancelled and no more charges would come through as I do not need their service anymore. They responded that in order to cancel my services, there would be a 1 time 'closing fee' of $180.00 and I would have to get the antvirus software installed in my phone. I explained I no longer wanted this service and I didnt want the software installed on my phone and was essentially bullied into paying the $180.00 or else they would not stop trying to charge me. I felt this was unethical practice and feel very poorly about this experience.

    11/23/2023 I was talking to a lady yesterday from McAfee - *******? and then transferred to another lady. She in turn sent me to someone else who looked at my computer.They had my name, email address and told me to hold while they connected me to someone else. A **** at a different number but he told me that this was a McAfee number and showed me that I had no drivers they all had stopped. Then he told me he didn't see a firewall and that was necessary. He said they ran in the price of $800 or more. But when I told him I could not afford it he told me for $100.00 he could do it. I am so shocked that this happened, it took me hours to figure this stuff out.He told me he was from McAfee and what was I to believe. I have been overwhelmed with work I have had to do to hopefully get my computer where it should be. In fact, I think the real McAfee should look at my computer and make sure it is up and **************** after all of this happening. I even asked the man to verify once more if he was from McAfee and he said yes.You can't imagine what this has done to me. I am completely taken back.He even had the service number xxxxxxxxxxx. Perhaps you have someone in your company working with this man. I was put on hold while the imposter came in. I tried to open the McAfee Consumer Support,if would not allow me to do so.Every time I try to leave a message it apparently doesn't go through. Saying case closed.How do you look out for your customers if you close the case. I'm uncertain about my computer because while the person (human) was telling me what was wrong, someone was behind him addition additional ways to get into my business. I discovered several things and took them out. And now you are saying case closed - Then I want my money refunded - (YOU KNOW) and I will have to call a local repairman to check out the computer. I still can't believe you changed me ? and I didn't even approve it. Guess it was ****. ***************************

    It seems that the customer was taken advantage of by some unknown 3rd party. The customer's description of what happened after her legitimate purchase was not McAfee. I provided a refund for her actual legitimate McAfee order and gave her a free year of service as a good will gesture.

    I ask your customer service representative to cancel my subscription with Mcafee and refund the balance on my account and I was told that she couldn't do it. I asked to speak to a supervision. then she told me the supervision wasn't available, and they would call me back. I haven't heard from yet. I'm not sure if the was a Mcafee employee or not. This company is a rip off.

    I received an auto renewal and I do not even have McAfee and have never signed up with them. I own a Mac and would never have a McAfee product on my system. They sent a renewal that they were deducted from an account which I never gave info for. I had to call them three times and still do not know if they are canceling. They hung up multiple times. This is a serious scam and do not understand why they are not in trouble for this practice.

    They are holding my computer hostage!There is a pop up that covers everything and says buy or else, using different words.It locks up my computer so I can't use what I paid for.The software was preloaded and I paid for the updates up until now. They are demanding I pay or remove the software that I already paid for up to now.

    I subscribed to McAfee and everyday I received pop **** I contacted them about removal of the pop *** but was told to clear my cookies and reboot. That fixed nothing so I uninstalled the software and requested a refund. Then came their concerted effort at attrition. "Please hold for a second or a minute or..." Three hours and five employees later, I did not have a refund. When I logged into my bank account to provide debit card info for the refund, the "manager" said I was taking to long and terminated the call. So, big waste of time and money and no refund from what was once a great company.

    Autorenew with 30 day advance billing it thievery. Enough of companies taking advantage of consumers. When will this end!!!!Charge me 3 times what I paid last year, bill me 30 days in advance, online prices 70% less. And would have paid an extra month since they billed in advance if I hadn't fought for what is right. When is the BBB going to stop these practices?? Consumers are getting taken advantage of every where we turn.
