Received this software for free with a purchase of a laptop. Auto renewed over 1 month before my subscription was finished without notice of auto renewal. Cancelation was not available online, had to call customer service. They tried to offer me 3 steadily decreasing price points for renewal when I clearly stated to cancel and refund. Cancelation was way more difficult than redeeming my 1 year free.Review from Debi Z

Malicious software - self installs then refuses to uninstall then customer service requires remote access. The whole process is malicious! It acts like a virus and will not be surprised it is one.Review from Lawrence D S

I purchased a renewal from an outside vender and tried to install it. It didnt work. It took two days of phone calls and online chats taking hours to fix. During this they told me they were transferring me to their technical staff and it would cost a dollar! They cut me off and transferred me. I was asked for my credit card for 1$. Then these thechnical people told me they did not work for McAfee. I said no and hung up. I later found a 46 dollar charge from this outside company. I reported this to my credit card company who will fix it. This was sleazy. I will never use McAfee again. I tried to reach a McAfee supervisor to explain the problem. They said they would call me back. They never did. The experience was horrible and I could never recommend them to anyoneReview from Ann G

These review sites often default to leaving a "star" which is preventing me from posting a negative number Does anyone from McAfee actually read these? Apparently NO ONE reads posts such as this because they made $426 million in profit last year. They have partnered with ****** among other makers of laptops where it comes built in for a "free trial" BS but the POP *** are AGRESSIVE. If McAfee were a person I would have filed a protection from abuse order against them. ****** and other laptop manufacturers need to get it together and rethink their partnership with this company. Shame on you for ripping of old people. Closing my paypal account too. Charged one of my credit card And then my pay pal. Funny thing is pay Pay pal denied my refund. I called Mcafee And they said i would be refunded. Wasnt even my right email address. After i contacted Mcafee then pay PAL said they would take my Case. They are in cahoots with each other.?. What a rip off company. I am 75 years old And i really need my too mites. Not even worth one star.McAfee, LLC Response

I purchased McAfee Anti Virus on February 3rd of this year. I had a problem with my compute and called McAfee Tech support. When I opened McAfee app it would not let me sign in and showed no anti virus subscription. Spoke with ************************* and explained problem with computer. I gave him access to my computer. He said there were programs slowing down computer and began removing programs. He told me I did not purchase the anti virus but the optimizer which is not true. He told me I was charged twice and he would give a refund but I would have to purchase the anti virus for ******. I was not charged twice. He was just making up stuff which was untrue. When I told him it did not make since and I did not have ****** he became very nasty and tried to strong arm me. He told me if I did not pay he would not be able to help me and I would not get my money back. I called back 3 times after that and the technicians immediately hung up on **** called around April 10th and spoke with Technician ********* and explained situation. I gave him date of subscription and receipt number. He informed me the info in system was incorrect and he updated info. He told me to uninstall the McAfee app and he would send me a link to reinstall the app with the updated info. I did as instructed and when I clicked on link it was Bit Defender a free anti virus from ********* not McAfee. Again I called and spoke with McAfee technician ******. She asked who else had access to my computer. I told her no one except technicians I asked for help. She said my computer was corrupted and hacked and anyone could gain access to my computer. She could contact a technician to assist me for 300 for 2 years and 500 for a 5 year subscription. She was so busy trying to scam me out of money she never did help with reinstalling my updated app. I feel like this company along with the technicians have hijacked my computer which is no longer working ! I would leave 0 stars if I could! McAfee sucks! They charged my account over 15 times! I had to change my bankcards, I called McAfee and they were no help at all. Horrible company! They do not protect anything, in fact THEY are the ones you need protection from!McAfee, LLC Response

I punched a plan for ****** on 2/25/24 and requested a refund on 2/26/24 after determining the plan wasnt right for me. Ive called customer service numerous times for my Service Request that had been opened and closed many times without the money being refunded and finally got a refund on 4/3/24. On 4/4/24 they withdrew the refund for some reason. **************** has been absolutely no help and have basically blown me off. I will no longer do business with Mcafee after this. The refund was within the terms and conditions but they refuse to give me my refund. I recommend using a different company for internet protection.McAfee, LLC Response

I cancelled my subscription years ago. Every year this company tries to sneak in a charge on my credit card and I have to challenge it. I have called them, cajoled them and have had no luck. I am tired of their games.McAfee, LLC Response
