On Monday May 15th, I discovered a random unauthorized transaction earlier that same day from a source called "chatgpt" on my cashapp card. The company withdrew four seperate transactions with the amount of $20 for each. The first transaction was made at 4:06am, the second one at 4:08am, a third one also at 4:08am, and the fourth one at 4:09am. In total, $80 was taken from this company. The multiple transactions was random because I have never heard of the company before, and I was not awake during the times the transactions were processed. I even checked that my card was in my wallet, and it was. After immediately researching the company upon the discovery, I found out that chatgpt is a service powered by "OpenAI" and tried to find a customer service number for help. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one. I am seeking a refund from these purchases because I did not buy anything from them and charging the same amount four times in a row does not make any sense. Usually, online purchases will send email confirmations, so I checked my email to see if they sent one. There was no email found from this company at all. Eighty dollars is a lot to lose, so I would like for the funds to be returned to my account.Initial Complaint

On May 14, 2023 I signed up for a free 7-day trial subscription. After 7 days they will bill the debit card unless the subscription is canceled.They do not inform that only a mobile phone number may be used.If a landline number is provided, there is no way to communicate with the company to resolve a billing problem.Once a subscriber's credentials are provided, the mobile [required] phone number is used for login verification. Otherwise, if the phone number is not a mobile phone a subscriber may not login.To cancel a trial subscription a subscriber must login. But, if the registered landline phone number is rejected, there is no way to login or to get technical or billing support.If a subscriber wishes to cancel while the phone number is rejected, he is led into an endless loop of help menus.Meanwhile, the 7-day trial times out, and there is no way to stop the subscription charges unless the subscriber rejects the charge by complaining to the bank..The company does not provide any way to otherwise resolve special problems: no phone, email, or mail address.Initial Complaint

Hello, so I have a question (complaint). But to get there, I'll introduce you to the story. On 2nd of May, 2023 I paid the ChatGPT PLUS subscription. I thought that the new GPT-4 that comes with the subscription, unlike GPT-3, is familliar to stories after September, 2021. But after I talked with the product itself, it said that it does not have the knowledge after September 2021. So the product did not meet my criteria so I had to ask for a refund. On OpenAI's policies, it's written that if you are an European user (I am, indeed, from Europe), you have up to 14 days to ask for a refund. So I stopped my subscription and got to OpenAI's site where I can ask for a refund. I've send my message with all the information about why I am dissatisfied with the product. The system said that I'll get a response within a few days (it was written in the chat window, where I contacted their support). So a few days later, ***** answered me, so I wrote them again. This time, the chat window said that they usually respond within a week. After a few more days, again - no response at all, so I wrote them an email. So now, 10 days later, I still haven't recieved an email or any contact from them OR my money back. So here comes my question: When they respond me, and the 14-day period has passed (even though I wrote them a few minutes after my purchase), can they tell me that I can't get my refund because of that? I've talked with the ************************* and they told me that they cannot do anything about my problem, since the company itself is not located in Europe, and either I'll have to talk with BBB (that's what I'm doing now) or I'll have to talk with my bank to return my money. To Open AI LLC,I have received communication from ********* at OpenAI Support regarding my inability to successfully complete payment using my bank card. Despite having attempted all recommended options as suggested by *********, the issue persists. My efforts have also included reaching out to my bank, **** in the **************, who have explicitly confirmed that no restrictions have been placed on my payment. To the esteemed OpenAI LLC,I am writing to formally report an issue encountered with regard to my subscription to the ChatGPT Plus monthly service. I have received 7 charges on my account in a matter of 24 hours from OpenAI for $20. Going to their website they claim a bug caused this issue and to submit a ticket that will not get resolved until the next day. No person to talk to, no way to complain, and certainly no direction on disputing with a bank. They should have identified and notified the affected users. At no point is it acceptable to charge even a regular member multiple time for the same subscription. I am paying for the ChatGPT Plus subscription and am not receiving service or responses from OpenAI the company that owns ChatGPT. I have tried to reach out via email, chatbot, and discord. Dear BBB,I am writing to report a serious issue with OpenAI, a company that provides access to GPT-4, a language processing AI software. On April 2nd, 2023, I was charged four times for a subscription to access GPT-4, all on the same day. However, when I tried to access the service, I received a message saying that the service is paused and unavailable. The total amount charged was $85.12, which is significantly more than the normal monthly charge of $21.28.As a paid member, I should have access to the service, but the website is saying that the service is paused and unavailable. I have tried to contact OpenAI multiple times, but my emails have gone unanswered, and I have received no communication from the company. This situation has caused a significant financial burden on my business, as the unauthorized charges have tied up my funds, and the company has been unresponsive to my attempts to resolve the issue.I am seeking remediation for the damages caused by the unauthorized charges, as well as the inability to access the service after being charged four times. I have had to spend countless hours trying to resolve the issue with OpenAI, which has taken valuable time away from running my business. This company charged my husbands card in March and now April for a subscription we did not sign up for. They charged it $20 twice. We have never heard of this company. We never subscribed to their product. They wont answer the phone or respond to emails. This is fraud. They have no other way to contact them. Theres no way to get our money back. Beware.
