      I thought I was signing up for .99$ but instead charged for .99$ and 24.99$. It is a total scam, they deceived me and charged me additional 24.99$ and I get a standard response that its their terms and conditions. I am surprised how they are able to still dupe people openly and without any fear. As soon as I saw the charge I immediately cancelled and contacted them but they are not refunding my money. Looks like Im not the only one who got scammed. I would have never given them my details if I knew they would charge me 24.99$ without my consent.

      8/10/24 was the date of the lookup on PeopleFinders.com. I looked up someone that was coming to my house to buy a sofa from us and her ******** account looked sketchy. The look up gave us no information but I was fine paying the 95 cents that I agreed to. Then I look on my ****** a few days later and see a charge of 95 cents, which is fine, and then a separate charge of $24.95. I never agreed to a charge of $24.95. When I emailed about the extra charge, PeopleFinders replied that I agreed to recurring membership fees, which I did NOT. Membership fee for what? I was using it one time to look up one person's name. I didn't agree nor want a membership

      At the time of purchase you chose to receive a discounted price for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Monthly Membership. You had the option to cancel this membership trial at any time on the website, via email, or with a representative over the phone. We have received your cancellation after the 3 day trial has ended. We have removed the auto-renewal for this membership and you will not be billed going forward. The membership fee is non-refundable. Your membership will expire automatically and you may utilize the service until then by logging into your account.

      I am rejecting this response because:  Not acceptable.  Fraudulent practices since this was unclear to me.   I did not see nor asked for a membership.  I was using the one time lookup with fee of 95 cents.     Asking for reimbursement of fee that was not explained clearly.

      I purchased a 3 day trial of peoplefinders on 8/4/24 and cancelled the subscription on 8/6/24 and was charged on 8/10/24 for the subscription. I proceeded to cancel the subscription a second time on 8/10/24 and called and emailed customer service to let them know I had cancelled the subscription and should not have been charged. At that time they didn't issue a refund. I want a refund. I cancelled autopay via ****** with them but this didn't prevent them from charging my card.

      Online trial for $.95 cents. As per online cancel procedure. I Canceled immediately and was notified by email confirming cancellation. Now charged credit card $24.95. Nothing was ever mentioned about canceling a second option. Complete deception. I now canceled second option and received confirmation. Again complete deception by this company. See all reviews.

      Peoplefinders dot com has fraudulently been charging my debit card ***** dollars a month for 11 months. They refused to refund when confronted on phone. I asked for a manager and they dumped me to voicemail. I demand a refund in full.

      I am rejecting this response because: company accepts fraud status yet has refused to refund fraudulently withdrawn funds from my debit card (debit card has since been deactivated and replaced due to this)    See original complaint for exact monetary damages expected to be refunded to me without delay.   The amount was $29.95 for 11 months.

      Signed up for 3-day Trial on July 2, 2024 but was billed on July 3. Not 3 day trial as advertised. Tried over and over to contact them only to be told "we are experiencing higher than usual call volume" and no one ever answers, just repeats same over and over. Now discovered I am not alone in issues with peoplefinders, MANY complaints here and online review sites.They make it impossible to contact them and hope you will just give up.NOT an HONEST company!

      I am rejecting this response because:

      I had quit Peoplefinders.com because prior use was determined to produce worthless reports. As I searched recently for an address on ******* Peoplefinders.com Free 3-day trial popped up. Peoplefinders already had my information because not able to delete account. I started 3 day "free" trial on July 2, found information is search useless and went to cancel on day 3 only to find they had charged my card on day 2. Contacted them and received long conditions as to why no refund, none of which applied to fact that they offered 3 day trial, but charged after 2 days before I could stop. Note all the MANY other BBB complaints about Peoplefinders.com and why lawyers from major firms, who volunteer time for pro **** suits when many people are taken advantage of for small amounts not worth cost of individual legal action, but as a class action will likely take action.  MANY attempts to get Peoplefinders.com to refund my $29.95 that effectively stole thru fraudulent offer IGNORED by ***************************** who claims to be **************** and by *******************, their Founder and Chairman.

      Product/Service at Issue: I am filing a complaint against PeopleFinders.com concerning an unauthorized recurring subscription charge. The issue revolves around a lack of clear and conspicuous disclosure of subscription terms and an unauthorized charge of $29.95 to my PayPal account.Date(s) of Transaction/Issue: The initial transaction occurred on 07/03/2024, with the subsequent unauthorized charge occurring on 07/06/2024.Company Representatives Involved: I interacted with a customer service representative named ***** from PeopleFinders support via email.Advertisement Claims vs. ******************** was initially advertised as a one-time purchase for a background check report at $3.95. This advertisement did not clearly convey the subscription nature of the product or the recurring charge of $29.95. I accessed this service and its advertisements directly on their website at www.peoplefinders.com.Contractual Agreement: There was no physical signing of a contract, but the service implied acceptance of terms through the online purchase process. However, these terms were not made clear and conspicuous at the point of sale as required by law.This complaint concerns the automatic renewal policy practiced by PeopleFinders.com, which I believe is not in compliance with California's Business and Professions Code *****. The terms of the automatic renewal were not clearly disclosed in a conspicuous manner prior to the completion of the purchasing agreement, leading to an unexpected charge which I did not consciously authorize.
