I paid $.95 for a service from peoplefinders; the company told me that if I upgraded my service adding $24.95 it would yield better results and service. I complied totaling my charges to $25.90 and the results were not helpful nor correct. I immediately requested a full refund based on results of the service. Peoplefinders placed a hold on the charge, so my bank cannot do anything about it. I reached out to my bank who instructed me to call peoplefinders; peoplefinders says since I did not take action soon enough there's nothing they can do. They are according to *************** blocking the bank from taking action against them.Business Response

I signed up for a membership with the understanding that I could cancel within 3 days for a full refund. I canceled the next day. Then I was billed monthly, two times. When I called they said this was because I had initially signed up for not one but two memberships. I was unaware of this. When I asked for a refund, they said they could give a partial refund for the second month and nothing for the first month. I signed up for the 5 day trial back in August. Canceled my membership 2 days later and have the confirmation of cancelation email received August 26th. However, I was charged $24.95 on August 29th. Canceled again and was still charged on September 29th, October 29th and again just now on November 28th. I contacted my bank and they informed me they were unable to block future transactions due to the fact that these are NOT automated transactions but MANUAL transactions. I called customer service and they even confirmed that they showed I canceled in August as well as in September but still could not answer as to why if I had 2 memberships then 2 cancelation procedures would not constitute a cancelation on both memberships. I asked to speak to a supervisor but was then disconnected. Have made several attempts to call back and even when I do get answered, I am then promptly hung up on. I am simply seeking now just to be assured that ALL my accounts are closed and my card will not be charged again and still cannot even accomplish that! This company is a ****, they know what they are doing and they do it well! They know you are unknowingly signing up for 2 accounts which will result in charges for the much higher amount and they know by processing MANUAL transactions as opposed to automated transactions then there is no way your bank can block future transactions therefore the only way you can be assured you won't be charged in the future is to get a new card completely! I know it's all fine print but there is a big difference between simple legal stipulations and taking advantage of knowing people will not understand dual accounts and then changing the manner in how they charge you! That is complete and deliberate manipulation and that is why this business is a complete scam!Business Response

They advertised a trial offer of $1.00 to find someone. I looked up the one person and they charged my account for that 1.00. Not a problem there. No verbiage at the time stating it was a "trial". But then they came back and charged me for a membership at $29.95. I have since had to go in and cancel a membership I didn't agree to which appears to be buried in their site information when you agree to do a search for $1.00. Clearly a bait and switch approach. The purpose of the search was to located any information found on an owner of a business, to check their reputability before doing any business with them. The information was vague at best and while worth a $1.00 charge, certainly not worth $29.95. I will also be contacting my bank to advise them that this is a fraudulent charge. Certainly not disputing the $1.00 charge, however $29.95 for one search is a crime. Interesting to note: as of today I see they've changed their pricing completely. A screen shot of their page states .95 cents for a free trial, and $24.95 to continue to a membership. But below that it states $3.95 for premium and $29.95 for membership. Documents can be provided to verify what was taken from my bank as well as screenshots of their actual website. I created an account months ago in September, had fun with it for a bit and then cancelled my subscription and deleted my account because I was done. The last monthly charge (about *****) should have been in October. It's November, and I have another charge. I know I deleted my account with them. In fact I went on to their website a few minutes ago to see if I could create a new account using my old email address that I created the first one with, and it went through! So I know I cancelled my subscription! This is disorganized and honestly scummy. I did everything right, followed their instructions to cancel my subscription and deleted my first account entirely. I have had an issue with this website since June of 2024. I bought one report for a one month trial for $.95. I received one report in June, for $.95. I immediately cancelled my membership renewal after receiving one report. 5 days later, it renewed and charged me $24.95. I disputed. Because it was something I did, I was told to contact the company. They instructed me to cancel my membership. I did. Same process in July. July it auto-renewed. I called the company. Logged a complaint. They said they would not refund my money but gave me directions again to cancel. I followed the directions and cancelled the subscription a second time. They have been charging me $24.95 ea month since for an additional $149.70 The cancellation process doesnt work. I think this is intentional. As of today, I have continued to be charged every month! I want a refund. I want to no longer be in partnership with this company. They are thieves and unscrupulous. I am sending a photo of the two months I disputed the charges to have my cc tell me to contact the company. I did. Both times. And now a third.Business Response

I used their service for one (1) search and paid for it. They used my personal information to sign me up WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR APPROVAL for a monthly membership. It took two months before I noticed I was being billed on my bank statement. These people are crooks. I neither desired nor approved of this membership. They did it - not me. I purchased 1 $10 background report on 11/6. When you're charged, the message says something to the effect of "you'll be charged $10 monthly." I ended up getting charged twice for the 1 background report I requested. Not sure why. I then logged in to try and cancel but there is no ability to do so. I called 11/8 and the automated system gave instructions to cancel which I followed. However, the instructions weren't correct. I also used their ************* email to request the cancellation and have not heard back yet.
