      Ordered a people lookup for $3.95. 3 days later received a $29.95 subscription charge from my ****** account. They have a hidden $29.95 monthly subscription service in their terms and conditions. No mention of this prior or during the original $3.95 purchase. SCAM!!!

      At the time of purchase you chose to receive a discounted price for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Monthly Membership. You had the option to cancel this membership trial at any time on the website, via email, or with a representative over the phone. We have received your cancellation after the 3 day trial has ended. We have removed the auto-renewal for this membership and you will not be billed going forward. The membership fee is non-refundable. Your membership will expire automatically and you may utilize the service until then by logging into your account.

      I am rejecting this response because:  There was no option during checkout or any communication that this was a 3 day trial.  I also canceled the subscription myself once I received the $29.95 fee on the 3rd day.  To repeat, there was no mention of any subscription during checkout, on the website, or in any email communication after the purchase.  I want a full refund of the $29.95.

      I am rejecting this response because:  The Company hid the subscription in their terms and conditions and mislead us to believe we were only purchasing a $3.95 service.  This is a SCAM and is FRAUD.  You can't hide garbage like this in your terms and conditions.  Obviously, this FRAUD is how the company makes their money.  SCAM SCAM SCAM.

      This company has added an automatic subscription to their service on my ****** account that they will not allow me to cancel through an means. The amount is ***** each month, which I would never ever do. When I login, I proceed with the instructions and once I select a required "reason" for cancelling a screen appears with additional information about that reason with no way to move past that screen, no matter what reason I select. I also selected "other", typed a response, and it sent me to customer care, where no one picks up the phone and the recording explains that the office hours are from 8 am to 8 pm Eastern Standard time. I have called at all times of the day during those hours and this is the recording. The cancellation makes a loop and never allows me to finally cancel the account. This is a scam and now I can't stop the billing through the business's process as I don't want a continued bill that hasn't been paid. I have contacted my credit card company and reported the fraud and I have worked with ****** to stop the automatic payment. This is fraud and should be stopped. I noticed that this "business" has several locations in the the BBB website. The one that appears on my *************** Screen is **************************************************** and the customer care number where no one ever picks up during their "business hours" is ************. The times listed on the site are not the ones in the recording when the number is called. The Transaction number on my ****** Receipt is 3X9249604B466515S. ****** cancelled the automatic subscription but I don't want an issue with credit since the company won't let me cancel and I never signed up. Please help. There is no way to upload screen shots of every screen that is a dead end or I would so that it could be viewed. This is a scam. Thank you!

      On 2/7/2025, I signed up for what I thought was a Free 3 day Trial with PeopleFinders. (Many companies offer a free trial with an auto-renewal, you just have to remember to cancel before the end of the trial to avoid being charged.) I put in my payment information and immediately cancelled the trial after the phone number search I was trying to perform was unsuccessful. I noticed the next day that my credit card was charged 95 cents. Even though it's a small amount of money, I knew I was under the impression the trial was free and that I had cancelled in plenty of time before the trial end date. I sent in my complaint via the "contact us" button on the PeopleFinders website and did not hear anything for three days despite the message saying I would receive a ***ly in less than one business day. So after not receiving a ***ly, on 2/11, I called their customer service phone line and was told by the *** that there are no free trials and that the 95 cent charge was legitimate and would not be refunded to me. He did confirm that I had successfully cancelled my trial and would not be charged in the future. I assured him that the website language must've been deceiving as I would never have signed up (for any **** of money,) had the trial not been free. I went on the website to understand how I had been misled, and I found the exact wording that says "Special Offer with FREE PeopleFinders Trial Membership." I then contacted PeopleFinders customer service again via email to show them the error/ misleading wording on their website. I acknowledged that it seemed like a typo (where the words "with" and "FREE" were accidentally inverted,) but I asked them to own up to their error and refund my 95 cents. I went back and forth with the customer service *** via email 5 times where he kept insisting that I was in the wrong and was misreading things. He would not acknowledge any fault or even an error in wording on their part. Very troubling! Proof of the website wording attached.

      I am rejecting this response because: Their response is untrue and contradictory to what they have previously been claiming. Attached is a response I received from them on 2/13/2025 claiming that the charge was for a trial period- not an individual phone report. Their response via BBB also  does not address the main issue in my original complaint which is the misleading verbiage on their website

      I purchased a report for $3.95, in website said you had to cancel or they will charge a monthly charge for $29 something. I went into the account and cancelled subscription. And the since i cancelled i kept looking on the website. They didnt notify me of anything. Next day i checked my email and i saw that this website (Peoplefinders) had fraudulently changed me for a whole year subscription for the amount of $69.95! I called them immediately and they refused to refund, they stated i had searched for a couple of people already, and i had just clicked on people where under the person i was searching but i was not aware they had subscribed me into another plan with out my consent.

      *** or Madam,Following my unsuccessful search for my high school classmate at the Los Angeles County Recorder on 09/26/2024, I paid Peoplefinders, LLC $.95 for a three day use of its search engine. I conducted a number of searches that same day and nothing else. The only thing I received from the merchant was an email welcoming me without any additional notices about an auto renewal, price or how to cancel. This violates California law. On 12/30/2024, my credit union blocked my **** account, and the next day I discovered the four unauthorized charges and asked the merchant to refund all payments. The merchant has only refunded one payment of $24.95. I ask that you assist me in recovering the remaining three payments, please.Thank you.

      Peoplefinders, LLC did not comply with Sections ***** and ***** of the Business and Professions Code at the time of contracting:

      "Existing law also requires the business to provide an acknowledgment that includes the automatic renewal offer terms or continuous service offer terms, cancellation policy, and information regarding how to cancel in a specified manner."

      Since there is no acknowledgement containing this information, the merchant's offer is void, and I am entitled to the unauthorized charges amounting to $75, please.

      The acknowledgement of recurring subscription happens at checkout and purchase cannot be made unless this box is checked. Our cancellation is clearly laid out in the linked Terms and Use as part of that acknowledgement. You called us on 12/31 and requested cancellation by phone and at that point the membership was cancelled. There were no previous attempts to cancel online or by phone. Please see the attached screenshots of our website that you were provided with upon using our services.  Terms of ********************************* Fees. If you sign up for our monthly membership or other subscription term you select ********************** PeopleFinders bills you for your online account using the billing information you provide (your "Billing Account") for use of the ****************** which enables you to conduct searches during your term of membership you select. A one month term is agreed by you to be a 30-day period. You agree to pay PeopleFinders all charges at the prices then in effect for your use of the ****************** using your Billing Account, and any applicable taxes, and you authorize PeopleFinders to charge your chosen payment provider (your "Payment Method") for the ******************. You agree to make payment using that selected Payment Method. The terms of your payment will be based on your Payment Method and may be determined by agreements between you and the financial institution, credit card issuer or other provider of your chosen Payment Method (the "Payment Method Provider"). If PeopleFinders does not receive payment from your Payment Method Provider, you agree to pay all amounts due on your Billing Account upon demand. In the event we are advised of insufficient funds in your account or credit to cover your payment by credit card, we may re-present such uncleared or rejected payment to your Payment Method Provider. PeopleFinders reserves the right to correct any errors or mistakes that it makes even if it has already requested or received payment and to update your information from available third party sources.       I signed up for the trial version of this platform for which they charge $1.00. After thatand still with the trial periodI cancelled the membership and received a confirmation of the cancellation by email. I then noticed that there was another membership listed, and I immediately cancelled that one as well (and received a cancellation notice). Please note that I did NOT sign up for the other membership nor any further memberships!As I was going through my accounts today, I saw that this company has been charging my ****** account $24.95 monthly since August. I immediately wrote them attaching the cancellation emails and called them to get a full refund of $125.75. I was told that the most that they are allowed to refund is three months and that if I had problems signing up with their website, I should have notified them. Apparentlyand this is reflected in the many complaints written herethey have a THIRD membership which I didn't cancel. Really??!! And it was the Basic Membership. Really??!!This is truly a BAIT AND SWITCH company, and they need to have their licenses revoked. It is not okay that a company does not clearly communicate their membership and pricing levels. It is not okay that a company secretly signs you up for additional memberships that you did not agree to. It is not okay that a company refuses to return all of the money they stole from you, and It is not okay that you have no access to any invoices or other documentation from the companyeither via email (which would have alerted me to their charges) or through their ********** their ******************* they only list 2 membership levels but write that ******** has the right to create its own memberships. On the ******** website, they list 3 options, but none of these match what they have charged me. And yet somehow I signed up for three different memberships?I can apparently only upload one piece of documentary evidence. I've uploaded the options from their website.

      I paid money for a report, and afterwards attempted to cancel the automated subscription that comes with all reports. I did so, and upon doing this I was signed up for a lifetime membership and charged $70 to my ****** account. I did not consent to this transaction, and am demanding a refund.

      I paid a 1.00 for one look up on their site! They charged me 6.99 and ***** for a membership I didnt authorize! I called them multiple times and they said they didnt do it!***** *****

      I paid $.95 for a service from peoplefinders; the company told me that if I upgraded my service adding $24.95 it would yield better results and service. I complied totaling my charges to $25.90 and the results were not helpful nor correct. I immediately requested a full refund based on results of the service. Peoplefinders placed a hold on the charge, so my bank cannot do anything about it. I reached out to my bank who instructed me to call peoplefinders; peoplefinders says since I did not take action soon enough there's nothing they can do. They are according to *************** blocking the bank from taking action against them.

      I created an account months ago in September, had fun with it for a bit and then cancelled my subscription and deleted my account because I was done. The last monthly charge (about *****) should have been in October. It's November, and I have another charge. I know I deleted my account with them. In fact I went on to their website a few minutes ago to see if I could create a new account using my old email address that I created the first one with, and it went through! So I know I cancelled my subscription! This is disorganized and honestly scummy. I did everything right, followed their instructions to cancel my subscription and deleted my first account entirely. So why am I being treated like this?
