I need to do a single search on a phone number. I agreed to pay $0.95 for the service. And was told that I had a few days to cancel the membership and if I didn't that I would be charged a monthly fee So I canceled in this time frame that was given to me. I was sent a confirmation email saying that I cancel my membership. Yeah, for some reason. I still was charged for services that I didn't use. I use it one time like I said the 95 cent Membership so when I see that money was taken out of my account by them. I Called and talk to you a representative who told me that I only canceled one of my memberships and I said that's impossible. I only had one they said no. I had 2 that I only had canceled one I said. How is that possible when I always pay? Ninety five cents four one phone number look up And when I canceled the one membership that I had. Why was I never told that? I had another one that I had to cancel. They said everything was good that I only had to cancel the one because that's all. I had was one but yet when I call them. They told me. I had to and that I only had canceled one of my memberships which I finally asked. How is that possible? Because I would have had to pay twice. What is that? 2 hours he said that I only cancel one and now when I canceled. What's the one that was for a 7 day trial which that's not what I agreed to I only agreed to a 3 day trial which was 95 cents so they took my money. They are telling me that I didn't cancel them in the right amount of time which is not true because I did. I have a confirmation letter that they sent me saying that I canceled my membership and that it would still be good to the 14th of August. I did the membership August 7 I had until August 9th to cancel it which I did. So I don't understand why they are telling me that I didn't cancel the right one or I didn't cancel both of them because I wasn't aware of both of them. One is what I got So when I called to ask them and tell them I would like my money back.Business Response

I signed up for the trial this website offered march of 2023 I noticed it was a three day trial so I canceled the subscription before they charged me. I noticed a little while later they charged me so I sent a email requesting a cancellation and refund. They apparently did neither. I figured it wasnt worth fighting over the one charge so I moved on. Fast forward a year later they have been charging me every month for not just that one subscription but another as well totaling $465. I called to dispute this with them and they said all they can do is refund the last month. That leaves $425 of unauthorized charges. I called my CC and unfortunately they can only go back about 3 months. That leaves $345 in unauthorized charges. I called peoplefinders back to speak to a supervisor and the *** told me it was useless as Ill get the same answer then transferred me to a dead line. I called back a third time and spoke to a different *** and explained everything and told them I will be leaving negative reviews about all of this aswell as contacting the BBB and FTC and reporting the fraud. They said they would give my info to the supervisor when they finish their meeting. 3 hours later and no phone call so I call and explain everything again and get sent to a line where the supervisor picks up and I explain the issue to him (*******) and he says now they can refund 3 months of charges. That is still leaving $345 in unauthorized charges. So I have left my reviews explaining my experience and in doing so I found that there are multiple people leaving the same review explaining how they are still getting charged even after canceling. These are unauthorized charges and its stealing. Not to mention the other reviews on how people cant even access there accounts or log in to use the service they payed for. This company should not be allowed to access people payment info and continue to charge after multiple requests to cancel. I will include screen shots of others reviews.Business Response

I needed a single search name for a phone number and not multiple numbers or for future searches, so elected the fee of .95 cents and my card was charged appropriately.This morning People Finders charged my card $24.99 monthly which I did not agree to. On August 12th 2024. I purchased a one-time service to get information on an unknown number that was harassing me. The business provided no information on the number. Since then, ****************** has been trying to charge me for a membership that I did not sign up for. I thought it was handled the first time when my credit card company and I went through the steps to make sure no membership was established with the company. Today (8/29/2024), ****************** once again tried to push through a charge for the same membership I never signed up for! On top of that they have an audio bot posing as their customer service and there is no way to contact an actual representative. This business is a scam through and through, falsely advertising a service and then trying to charge for a hidden membership that I never signed up for!!! Peoplefinders.com tricked my 13-year-old son into subscribing to a monthly subscription when he only wanted to buy a single record. He thought he was paying $0.95 for a record. Days later he found a charge for $24.95 for a monthly subscription he did not realize he signed up for. The process by which he signed up for was likely misleading, and he did neither intend to nor realize that he was subscribing. The practice may be unlawful under Section 5 of the ************************ act. Moreover, as a minor, he lacks the legal capacity to enter into this contract under applicable law. I called customer service and requested a cancellation, to which they agreed, and a refund, which day refused. I want a full refund.Business Response

On or about July 7, 2024, I wanted to send my daughter a Birthday Card with a present. I had misplaced her address, so logged on to People Finders. The amount I was quoted was $1.00. I obtained her address and mailed the gift. Surprised that on July 23, 2024, my debit card was charged $29.95. I wanted to call People Finders but a serious health issue prevented me from doing it. Then, on August 23, 2024, another charge for $29.95. This is getting serious. I never signed a contract that I was aware of and would like a refund of the amount you have charged me, which is $59.90. Using debit cards is getting to be a hazardous risk and due to several issues, I am seriously concerning closing my account. Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against PeopleFinders concerning unauthorized charges made to my credit card.On June 24, 2024, I made a one-time purchase from PeopleFinders for the amount of $3.95, with an additional $0.50 for having the report emailed to me. I only required one report and did not wish to subscribe to any service.However, upon reviewing my recent credit card statement, I noticed that I have been charged a monthly subscription fee of $29.95 by PeopleFinders. I did not consent to or authorize this subscription and was shocked to see these charges.I immediately contacted PeopleFinders customer service to address this issue. Unfortunately, I was offered only a $9.00 prorated refund, which I find completely inadequate and unfair. The representative suggested that I should have called sooner, but I had only just received my credit card statement and noticed the charge.The entire situation feels deceptive, as I did not intend to subscribe to any ongoing service and only sought a single report. The minimal refund offered does not reflect the full amount I was wrongly charged, and I believe this practice is a scam.I request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this matter and assist me in obtaining a full refund of the unauthorized charges.
