In order to improve the security of Survey Junkie and its members, we are introducing a new process of verification which is Photo ID verification, which will be a one time verification tool for our panelists. As a quality and verification measurement tool -this might be required at any point of the membership, in order to additionally:
a) verify the account ( regardless of previous verification statuses)
b) to exclude the chance of the account being compromised
c) monitor the quality of provided information (honest and accurate information about themselves and all survey questions to the best of their ability)
This method is used extensively in the market research industry for security and quality purposes. Again, we would like to emphasize that this is a one time verification check that members will not have to repeat over the lifetime of their account. That being said, the member has since verified their account and they have been able to continue taking surveys and should now be able to to redeem their points.Initial Complaint

I have been doing surveys with survey junkie for a short amount of time now. I have encountered a very negative experience. I have complained to them regarding some of their survey providers and nothing was done. Some of their survey providers are very discriminatory and Is political driven. I have completed a number of surveys and have gotten all the way to the finish line to turn around and be rejected. What is the purpose of taking the qualification test if they're just going to reject you? Some of their survey providers are qualifying people to participate in the surveys however they are not honoring their agreement To give the points once the surveys are completed. They are getting away with this By flagging you as a way to get out of having to give the points. Some of these surveys are 20 plus minutes long And I have been ripped off for several of them promising a 100 plus points to complete them and once they're completed either the screen is freezing up or something is happening to where I'm Not showing up in the records in the activity section. Some of my data has been shared and I have received a lot of spam emails as a result to participating in some of the surveys. Ever since I announced my political position with one of the survey providers they continue to s**** me out of complete surveys. I complained to them and was told they got a response back stating the survey provider did not like my answers. Yet the same survey providers approved me to take it through the qualification test and then turn around and reject after I completed the entire survey. Yesterday I completed a handful of surveys and was rejected after I reached to a 100 and told me I did not qualify. Not one survey was approved yesterday Except for the morning question. You're taking a big risk completing surveys to not be paid Or them and to be lied on or an excuse of you not giving meaningful answers. A lot of their surveys I noticed lately are baiting and switching.Business Response

Survey Junkie is a safe and secure website, trusted by millions of members who take surveys and redeem on a daily basis. That being said, Survey Junkie does not condone or tolerate discrimination or harassment on our platform in any form. The pop-up messages members may receive are general notices for ineligible participants and are not intended to cause any negativity. Please note that third-party survey providers place surveys on our platform for specific research purposes. These providers seek to hear from a "target audience" that often consists of individuals with specific demographics, such as age, gender, marital status, education, interests, and/or general location. These demographics help survey providers meet their pre-designated research needs. Sometimes, participants will fit the demographics of a certain study, and sometimes they will not. This stems from the research requirements of each survey provider. Survey providers place pre-qualification questions at the beginning of some surveys to determine whether participants match their target audience. Participants who do not match the requested demographics are not eligible to participate in those surveys. We do our best to match each participant with surveys that align with their demographics so that they can share their valuable opinions and insights. However, we do not have control over the target audiences for the specific researchers and companies who host surveys on our platform. It is possible that during the survey, as the survey providers were gathering information, they determined the member was not the kind of participant they were looking for, so they terminated the survey. This can happen at any point in a survey, regardless of how much is completed. Please note that Survey Junkie has no say in members getting disqualified or terminated from a survey and it is up to the sole discretion of the survey providers. However, to reward members for their time and effort we award 2 or 3 points for every disqualification. That being said, third party survey providers do not receive the information a member provides on a survey, if the survey is terminated, meaning a members answers are only saved if they successfully complete the whole survey and receive full points.Initial Complaint

We have looked into the survey the member is referring to and we can confirm that the third-party survey provider did not accept the answers they provided. We recommend that the member takes their time reading survey questions and answering questions consistently and thoroughly to ensure that, moving forward, their surveys are accepted by the survey provider. Nevertheless, as our valued customer, we've given their account an extra 50 bonus points as a courtesy.

I joined Survey Junkie on a lark in Oct 2023, accrued **** points - ie $14.56 - got bored and decided to cash out. At first, SJ required "only" my bank account number to do so, then it suddenly required a valid ID, front and back, plus a photo of my face, then it required a phone number, to call me and "verify" all my data again. Survey Junkie has demanded all my personal data, valid ID, a picture of my face, and a perhaps a voice recording of me vocally repeating my data to them, all to redeem $14.56? Thats not what they advertise.Business Response

Have been a client for several years and go through the same issue at the end of every single year. *** requires W9 when someone earns $600 or more. Survey Junkie has repeatedly blocked the transfer of earned money, requesting a W9 form when I have not earned $600. They claim the *** requires this form at the threshhold (to use their word). This is untrue. I have so far earned $538 and the amount I am trying to transfer is less than $20. They have no right to personal, sensitive information before I earn $600. I will be happy to send them a W9 if it met the *** requirements. $538 does not, and Im not sure, without contacting a lawyer, if they even have the right to withhold my money at some arbitrary amount that they have set up. Each year their threshhold amount changes. I realize that this issue will not be resolved in time for me to get what is legally mine transferred before the end of the year, but I keep hoping that they will stop this practice of trying to have access to personal, sensitive information in the name of the ***, when it is clearly only in the name of Survey Junkie. I have sent notices to their customer service department with quotes from web sites stating the W9 is not necessary below $600, but they go ignored.Business Response

We require a W9 form from our members when they approach $600 in a calendar year. We are required by the *** to report members that reach this amount of earning on our site, it is not an arbitrary rule determined by us. That being said, however, since the member has still not reached $600, they have since been able to redeem their points without submitting the W9 form.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: I have rejected this in form only. True, after filing this complain the customer service team wisely manually released my money. My objection is the reference this respondent has made to the fact that the W9 form is required when approaching a threshold. This is a lie. The *** requires the form when the person has REACHED $600. I have very carefully each year monitored my earnings and I have NEVER reached $600. It IS Survey Junkies arbitrary rule of the approachment that I object to. ** has absolutely no need for the very personal information of my social security number and address when I have not reached that number. This has been ongoing and they to do this every year I have been a member. I will absolutely fill out the form that is required by the *** should I meet the *** requirement, This request is merely **s attempt at obtaining information of a sensitive nature that they will never need, in my case, with the untrue remark about reaching a threshold for its requirement. BTW, each year the ** threshold has been different. One year it was below $500, this year it was $538. I really dont even know if it is legal to withhold a persons rightfully due money, based on a random rule of **. The customer service team which involved six members of the team (******, ****, ****, ******, ***** and ******, rather than one representative per inquire) were always very nice. Such a shame to waste their time and mine over something like this that ** never seems to have any interest in changing.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because-did receive my money after filing complaint. Does not change the fact that it should not have been held in the first place. Above response admits IRS does not require the form, only SJunkie. I cant think of any legitimate reason you would want my name, address, birth date and SS number when it is not needed by the **** You are trusted, but NO COMPANY IS IMMUNE TO HACKERS. You are asking me to risk that simply because ** decides it wants the info. The IRS is considering changing the amount from $600 to $5000 this year. I certainly hope we are not having this same discussion in December 2024 if SJ doesnt adjust its threshold to meet IRS standards. Dont think, at pennies per survey, anyone will be anywhere near $5000 and SJ will have no ligitmate reason to hold my money.
Sincerely,

Survey junkie isn't paying me for the surveys I've completed. Survey junkie isn't calling me to verify account, I didn't have to do that in the past. It's been days with no call back from them as per what Survey junkie said they would do. So now this is a fraudulent company, ripping American people off for thier time and effort.Business Response

On Friday, 12/15, I tried to redeem $15.20 that I had in my account. I was not able to do so and got a message that you wanted me to confirm my identity (which I've never had to do before) and that someone from customer service would call me by the end of the business day. You did not. I was supposedly "in the queue" so I expected to be called within a couple of hours. No one called. Now the message says you;ll call sometime during business hours Monday through Friday. Thanks for nothing. I needed that money to keep from getting my electricity shut off on Tuesday the 19th. I've been on this platform for over a year and I have never had a problem redeeming my points, now suddenly, I have to prove to you who I am? I am someone that desperately needed every ***** of that on Friday.Customer Answer
