Hello BBB,4-20-23 Stamps.com has un-knowingly to me been charging me $17.99 a month recurring fee for the past 2 months. This is a hidden fee and not disclosed clearly. This is some sort of a scam. I called customer service to ask for a refund for the 2 months I was charged $17.99 (March 2023 and April 2023) but was denied. I never needed nor used their services. Thanks for your time!

I was completely unaware of the fact that I would be billed monthly for the privilege of using their site whether I actually did so or not. I had 2 accounts (jdw78275 and josh78275) which I created because their password reset process is not very usable and was billed $19.99 for each account, for a total of $39.98, even though I never used their services. This fee was explained nowhere in the documentation when I signed up for my accounts. This is a very deceptive practice and I was denied a refund despite explaining this to them. Unfortunately, I have no supporting documentation as the accounts were closed as soon as I learned I had been billed. However, these records are fully in their possession already. I would very much like them to contact me and arrange for these charges to be reversed.

I never intentionally subscribed to stamps.com. I bought postage for a single package sometime last year, and apparently stamps.com signed me up for a monthly subscription - which I have never used. While reviewing my budget this week to make sure I had enough money to pay my taxes, I saw a payment to stamps.com for $22.01 on 4/6. My bank shows "recent charges" for this subcription as $19.81 per month for **** Feb, and March of this year - but I can't see charges earlier than this year, and I suspect I've been charged for longer than that. The slight increase from $19.81 to $22.01 must indicate that they raised rated in addition to sneakily getting me to subscribe for a service I don't use. Normally, I would just cancel this subscription immediately - but stamps.com doesn't make it that easy. You can only call customer service during normal business hours. I can't log in to my account because I forgot my password, and when I click "forgot password" it made me answer security questions just so I could receive an email. After I answered them (there's no alternative if you can't remember the answers), it said a temporary password had been sent to my email account. That email never arrived. I tried four times, checked my spam folder, searched my inbox - no email was sent. Because I didn't receive the email, I can't log into my account and cancel my subscription - and I can't call because they're closed, so I have to remember to try again tomorrow. This is a tactic that companies use to discourage and delay you from your intention to cancel so they can continue to charge you. The fact that I can't cancel this subscription right away is not accidental, it is by design. It can be, and should be, easier to cancel a subscription I never signed up for. Any company that ropes you into a subscription without your full knowledge and then makes it this difficult to cancel is doing shady business. I feel scammed and manipulated as a consumer.

I looked at Stamps.com last year and immediately canceled my account after seeing that I would be charged a fee to use this site. In November 2022 I found out my cancelation was not honored as I had been charged $17.99 a month for 3 months. So, I went into their website and attempted to login. I was unable to use my password this time which I found very strange as I always only use one password for all of my accounts/subscriptions. So I went through the steps and got a temporary password from stamps.com. After logging in using the temp password in Nov, I submitted a cancelation for my "account" once again. Today is April 15th 2023 and not more than 10 minutes ago I looked at my checking account app. and what do I see, another pending charge for now $19.99 from Stamps.com I just searched Stamps.com in my banking app. search bar and I see that I have been being billed continuously from this company since Sept 2022 This is ludicrous. This company must acknowledge when someone cancels a subscription and stop billing immediately! I have never used any service from this website/business. I only ever looked at their website initially to see if they could save me money on shipping costs. Now when I try to log back in to Cancel my account again, I am not able to login. I'm not going through the temporary password process again as I've already submitted cancelation requests twice and neither were honored. I believe I am due full refund in the amount of $145.92 for 7 unauthorized charges in the amount of $17.99 each, plus the current $19.99 charge. Please help me resolve this situation immediately. Thank you

I have been waiting on a refund for my closed account since January 30th, 2023. On April 13th I wrote asking where my refund is, I am told an error was made, a check was never sent and now a refund for my account balance will be applied to my credit card in 4-6 weeks. I advised my card they have is an old card. I was advised to update my card on their website but I am unable to do so and I was told to call. I called today and spoke to Trinity. I gave her my new card number, she said it could not process. She advised me she would ask for a check to me sent to me, the address on file is an old address, when I told her my new address and asked for my company name to be on the address she told me that was a problem. I asked to speak to a supervisor and am still waiting 25 minutes later. Now she has advised the refund will be sent to the old card on file and nothing more can be done. This is a SCAM. Why is Stamps.com making it so difficult to get a refund for my account balance? It is more than clear Stamps.com is not refunding customers for their balances on closed accounts. Why is **** endorsing this company and what is the BBB able to do about this? The company has numerous complaints against it. I would like to know what BBB is doing to hold this company accountable.

Over several months I was charged more than what the service stated. I was charged after the packages were delivered and give zero notification of the change. They also offered a monthly subscription service, which I never saw anything about. Everything about this website is deliberately misleading, if technically legal. They advertise up front that they save you money, but that is a lie. This business is a deliberate bait and switch scam.

When a customer creates a ********************** account they are not aware that they will be charged a monthly fee on top of the postage paid for their services. After reading other people's complaints online I realize I am not the only one. Never was I aware of a monthly service fee which I would never have agreed too. And never did I receive a bill or any emails regarding this monthly charge. I contacted Stamps.com and they did offer 2 months refund. however, this charge occurred for many months without my awareness or usage. I would like to receive a more fair refund for what is frankly a very sneaky business tactic.

I am rejecting this response because I have not received the $100 refund mentioned in the letter.  Although I am extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency by Stamps.com, this $100 refund feels like a fair solution in the interest of putting this behind me.  I think that true transparency is always very clear and in this case it simply isn't.  I know we can all work towards this and I think there is an opportunity for Stamps.com to be much more clear about their monthly charge.  One idea would be to send a monthly invoice that shows the charge is happening, rather than it just occurring without such documentation.  I would love to resolve this and look forward to receiving my refund so we can do so.

    Sincerely,

For several months now I have been getting charges from this company. A dollar here and there and today almost $20. And I didn't understand what it was. I did not make an account with them. Have 0 emails from them. However to try to figure out how and why I am being charged I try to login. To no avail, as I never created a login. I input forgot username and get the one and only email ever from this company with a random generated username. What the heck? I still cannot login. I don't know how many times this company has charged me but I strictly use pirate ship. never stamps Com. I will be contacting my bank tomorrow due to this obsurd almost $20 charge, as well as the others. It adds up.

On April 7th, 2023 I saw a charge of ***** to my account from stamps.com. Turns out, Stamps.com has been charging me $***** monthly since May 2022. Back in May 2022, I created an account on their site to buy some postage. I never agreed to a monthly subscription nor did I ever receive an email indicating that I signed up for this service. I reached out to customer service on April 7th, as soon as I saw the charge and they kept claiming that "On their end" they saw that documentation existed that they sent me an email with this info. They did not. The woman on the phone kept telling me that somehow this information was "stuck in a computer" but they saw it on "their end". This is fraud. I see other similar complaints from other people. Eventually, after insisting on speaking to a manager, the woman agreed to pay me $100, however, I should be owed around $200 for charges dating back about 1 year. I closed my account so that I would not be charged additional "fees," however, Stamps.come owes me more money and I will be going after it. Today, on April 8th, I see a pending charge from Stamps.com to my banking account for $50!!! Needless to say, I will be once again reaching out to these people who clearly are scamming their customers and engaging in sneaky tactics.

BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.

BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
