This year I canceled my credit card that my annual subscription to beach body was charged on. I signed into my beach body account for the first time in months to double check and make sure my card was declined. That's when I first realized that they charged me before my card was canceled and I had been automatically upgraded without my consent from a 99$ a year subscription to a 179$ a year subscription. I texted customer service to ask for a refund and they said I was out side the refund period (mind you by about a week!) and they had sent emails and that was my consent. I searched my spam emails and found 2, one that reminded me of the recharge in October (the recharge is in December) and one that said the price would go up to 119$. I found nothing else from beachbody. They tried to get me to file a written complaint but in order to submit the complaint you have to check a box that says beach body followed policy and that you could not escalate the complaint further!! Wow, great business ethics! I called customer service and they said they had sent the emails and there was nothing they could do. If they did send the emails it was under a different name and went straight to spam. The customer service process basically says there's nothing they can do to make it right because they have enough lawyers to out smart and scam their customers. This is not right. I feel like I was scammed. I logged into my account and it said "be nice to others and be nice to yourself". After scamming me out of $179, they try and make you feel bad! Narcissism at a corporate level! I'd like a refund and not to my canceled card! Times are too tough to donate $179 to a business without my true and ethically given consent!Sending an email is not ethical consent especially when you almost double the price!Business Response

Hello ******, ?
Upon reviewing your account, we have confirmed that on June 17,2018, you enrolled into an annual Beachbody On Demand membership. When you enrolled into Beachbody on Demand, you checked the box to accept the Terms and Conditions. We communicated via email 35-days prior to your renewal that Beachbody On Demand was being discontinued and replaced with our brand-new product called BODi. Per the email notification, our new platform BODi maintains the terms & conditions that you opted into at purchase. Our system shows that we sent you an email about the BODi upgrade on November 2, 2023. Within the BODi upgrade email it mentions the new pricing and date of the next scheduled renewal.
Your annual BODi membership renewed on December 7, 2023. Your membership for BODi has been cancelled as of January 13, ****. As a result, you will no longer receive any additional charges. You will continue to have access until December 7, ****.
Note: Your payment method being cancelled, or expiring does not constitute as a request to cancel your membership. Many banks participate in a credit card verification program where they provide companies that you subscribe to with updated account information to ensure there is no disruption to your membership.
We are unable to approve your request for a refund outside of our 30-day money back guarantee period due to the following policy:
For digital memberships, the 30-day money back guarantee only applies to the initial order date. Membership renewals are not eligible for a money-back guarantee. I believe BeachBody or Bodi to be a deceitful company. I originally was approached online by a coach to join her workout community online. She signed me up as a coach instead of a customer - this is not what I agreed to. She told me I would save money signing up as a coach. In March 2023 she posted a transphobic message online. I spoke to her privately and asked her to remove the post. She was offended by my request and then removed and blocked me from our ******** accountability group. I messaged and spoke to Beachbody customer service twice regarding my coach going against company policy by showing prejudice. They told me that they would look into it and I never heard from them again. I lost my coach and accountability group and was never given a new coach. I stopped using the workouts at that time. On January 3, **** I noticed a charge for $193.77 from Beachbody on my credit card. I had no idea there was an auto renewal on my account. I immediately reached out to customer service to cancel my membership and request a refund and was told Digital memberships are automatically refunded within 3-5 business days if canceled within 30-days of purchase. I waited until January 8th and reached out again regarding my refund and was told I'm sorry to inform you that as per the Money Back Guarantee policy for Digital membership, our system will allow us to process a refund only for initial purchases. We do not provide refunds for digital membership renewals. I asked for an exception and was denied. I was told that they sent me an email on 12/1/23 about my auto renewal. I looked and cannot find this email. I have not used any Beachbody products or services for months. I do not want anything to do with a company that scams and manipulates people. I only want my $193.77 back. This company is stealing my money when I am not using their services. They did nothing to solve my issue or complaint back in March 2023 and now once again I am dealing with emotional distress.Business Response

F the last two years I have gotten charged by BeachBody for $189.74. I Canceled my membership in 2020 and am still this year **** getting charged. I canceled online and took a screen shot. The phone number they provide directs you to a webside and the website has a chatbot that doesn't answer questions. This is fraud and this company needs to be stopped.Business Response

I originally got the free trial for Beach Body in 2022, and despite canceling it and never using it, they ended up charging me not only that year, but the following year, and then again this year. All 3 times I've had to file a complaint with the company and request a refund that takes 5 days. Now, they've changed their name to **** and the support staff are incredibly rude and do not answer any questions regarding concerns about future charges, considering this is an ongoing saga of 3 years now. I'm not sure if this company is a scam or what the deal is, but someone needs to look into them, and if you are considering getting a subscription, don't! It's not worth it, and the hassle you will have to go through is beyond frustrating.Business Response

I just looked at my bank account this morning and had a charge of $196.43 for Bodi. I did not authorize this payment and I had no idea that this charge was even going to be coming out. I cancelled Beach key last year. There was no prior warning of this charge.Business Response

I purchased a 12 month beach body on demand membership on 10/26/2022 and charged ******. I was not notified via email about an automatic membership renewal or price increase. In 10/26/2023, my credit card was charged ****** without my knowledge. I called and customer service was no help at all. I attempted to fight it through my credit card company and **** provided them with evidence of my device utilizing their streaming services on 12/13/2023, which I absolutely did not. The print is so small that I cannot read the device Id to prove otherwise. I would like a full refund since I was not notified, nor have i used or plan to use any of their streaming services.Business Response

Hello,I signed up for a promotional membership with Bodi by beachbody that included a free gift of equipment. I selected that option and proceeded to checkout. There I filled out the fields and paid what they were asking. When I got my confirmation email, there was no mention of the equipment so I contacted customer service to confirm it was being shipped to me. They told me I had to place a separate order for that and pay *****. I told them it was included in the membership as a FREE gift but they would not assist me further. I am looking to receive the equipment that was included in my order for free. I have a video of the membership selection and checkout process if needed.Business Response

I signed up for OpenFit for a free trial over a year ago and hardly ever used it. I forgot all about it and all of a sudden had a pending charge of $191.53 on my credit card. I had received an email about OpenFit becoming BeachBody and now apparently BODi. However, I did not get any email stating that this membership charge was coming and I did not authorize it. I tried their ************ to explain all this and hopefully get a refund. This did not go well, whoever I was chatting with pretty much told me that emails had gone out to hundreds of thousands of people and there was nothing I could do unless I could prove there was an error on their part. Most businesses try to make things right for consumers but this one is not helpful or sympathetic at all! I just want a refund issued back to my card. Times are hard right now, treat people the way you want to be treated.Business Response

On 8/31/23, Beachbody tried to auto renew my yearly membership. I did not want to renew as I didn't use the service anymore. *********** declined the payment. I thought that was it. Then Beachbody tried to run the transaction again and charged me $202.20 on 9/5/23. I did not realize this. On 11/29/23 once I saw that my credit card had been charged, I canceled right away via Beachbody website. There were 2 options when canceling - 1) cancel the auto renew & keep the service until that time or 2) cancel immediately. There was NO mention that if you cancel immediately, there is no refund if after 30 days. You lose the service after canceling immediately. So in essence you are giving them over $200 for absolutely nothing. I got the run around from Beachbody saying no refunds after 30 days. I fought it with my credit card company and Beachbody responded that they don't owe me a refund. I have NO service and NO refund. Beachbody is not delivering on what they are keeping my money for. I do not want service reinstated. At this point all I want is my money back.Business Response
