Today I? purchased the recertify for life for my CPT. To my knowledge this does not recertify your CPT for life. You must take a course you never have before, pay the course fee and the renewal fee is waived. I? cried histerical on the phone. I? could not afford to make such a payment and to learn that they will not refund me broke me down to tears. I? begged the agent to talk to someone, explain my circumstances. I? dont know what I? am going to do. I? would have loved to pay the $99 renewal fee instead. I? would prefer a refund. I? am not interested in other courses. I? am only interest in CNC and CPT. Im just exhausted at how these companies will just keep your money. The agent was kind and helpful but limited in what she could do for me. Im no quitter but it made me want to quit PT. I? just wanted my order cancelled and a refund. Please be careful and read everything thoroughly. The title Recertify for Life is very misleading.

Oh no! We're so sorry to hear about the confusion on that product. The recertify for life fee is going to cover those recertification fees as long as you are renewing certificates but we will let our team know your feedback about the naming of the product. In the meantime, we will request that a member of our management team contact you to receive your feedback!

In August 2021, I completed the NASM CPT exam. In October 2021, I was in a nearly fatal car accident that left me partially disabled. Despite this, I still wanted to pursue fitness and fulfill my CEU requirements to keep my certification. Granted my recovery took about a year a physical therapy, so I didnt get started until 2022. I took a few of the cheap courses to get a few credits and then I signed up for the senior fitness specialist certification that shouldve fulfilled the rest of my CEU requirements. I paid for that course and took the exam and passed it, but when I went to enter it into the system to get credit for it, it wasnt on the list; the website said the if course that you took was not listed that you have to call and pay a fee to have it be added to the list and receive credit. I assumed when I purchased the course that cost me over $500 that I would be receiving credit for that course in regard to my CPT cert. at the time, it seemed like a scam and a scam I did not want to be a part of, so I decided personal training was not for me. Fast forward to today I signed up for the group fitness instructor course certification. I figured it was its own thing and they couldnt scam me out of my credits if I just finished it. I finished the course yesterday, but couldnt find the exam anywhere so I called them on the phone today. They notified me that the course I had purchased and spent my time on was no longer accredited by their organization. so my options were to get a refund or to upgrade to the new course. I asked about the refund and she immediately hung up on me so I called back and they told me that the refund had already been processed so signing up for the course for free was not an option for me anymore, I do not understand why NASM so often feels the need to be so greedy and to keep taking and taking and taking me and giving me nothing in return.

I would not recommend NASM to anyone. Overall I am extremely disappointed with NASM. It has been unbelievably hard to take an exam and I have attempted to twice and both times there were issues. This will be the third time I'm attempting to take their exam and I've had to call and go back and forth with NASM and PSI about ten plus times. I would not recommend NASM to anyone because it has caused me so much unnecessary stress. For my last exam attempt, I studied hours for and woke up at 5:30 am just for the exam not to work and for PSI to tell me there was nothing they could do about it. I just called PSI back and they said "My device wasn't compatible" when my first exam attempt it was working on this same device but the ******* shut down my exam about 5 seconds after telling me to take off my headphones that I was unaware weren't allowed. I followed the ********* instructions and took them off but the whole exam was shut down anyway. For the amount I paid for this course, it should not be this difficult to take an exam. NASM customer service is not easy to reach and I've been on the phone holding for 30 minutes before. They are just looking for money.

That sounds like an unbelievably frustrating experience. We work with our partners to make the experience as seamless as possible but we fell short. While PSI does have certain rules we understand that it may not be as clear at first how to take a proctored exam if you haven't done one before. We will be having one of our managers contact you to make sure your next experience taking the exam is flawless.

Don't think you will get any help like it says in their advertising. The only people you can get ahold of is more people wanting your money. This is big corporate at its finest. They aim to take your money, pass on the little guy, and leave you hanging out to dry. Do not fall for this scam

I signed up for this course and started promptly. In the first month of studying life started going sideways for me and I decided to try to get a refund and go back to this course sometime later when it felt right. They have a 28 day window from inception to ask for a refund. I tried calling customer service days in advance of the expiration time from my office while at work and could NOT get someone on the phone. It took days to get an answered call. I mean after holding on the call for up to an hour while working- one will give up and hang up the call. I tried numerous times and when I finally got someone on the phone, on the weekend- they wanted me to prove that I called them. To send a print out of proof that I actually called their number. I couldnt access that information bc I was calling during working hours from the office line and just keeping the call on speakerphone. When I finally got them it was the 29th day. They denied me my refund- hard. I was so upset. They made me feel like I was lying about actually trying to call them. Being that my $$ was being charged by them- bc they wouldnt refund me- I went on the try to juggle life and study- finally got to the exam and failed by 2 points. 2!!! How on earth and then to booth now had to pay an additional $200 to retake the exam. Which I am still yet to take. This just feels so wrong. Like youre set up to fail. The content doesnt even make you feel like youre studying to be a personal trainer. More like some medical field. I have to access many other platforms to do research and watch videos, podcasts etc on their material to understand whats being thought. Im really turned off from this and struggling to get to the exam again. I really wish NASM was more concerned about peoples lives than just business and money. I love people and thats why I wanted to get into training also. But with NASMs ethics- I dont feel fulfilled. *************************.

My background is that I have a BSEE and have patented Medical Devices *********** Patents) along with have my electronic designs on Satellites circling the globe. As per my training background I started training when **************** was in the ************ area for the **** Ms. ******* Contest. Unfortunately I signed up with NASM before reading some of comments on your website. I have taken many tests in my never have taken one like the NASM test that was so subjective and asked questions that were never on the practice tests. I've been in the medical field for 30 years and the questions they ask are beyond the scope of a CPT. Being NCAA approved means nothing to me. They say you can appeal so I asked for a copy of the test with my answers that I can reference them in the appeal and they said they can't give it to me. On their website they claim 79% of people pass the test but 70% of people I've talked to at multiple gyms say they have failed it multiple times and some never passed it. There is a very interesting process after finishing the test where they ask you multiple questions including your age before getting your score. Why? How many over 55's have they certified was a question my attorney brother asked me?

    Hello ******,

We wanted to express our gratitude for sharing your feedback with us, and want to provide the best customer service possible.

To answer your question, You are correct, they are not the same questions, but they are on the same topics and all come directly from our material. The exam is accredited and as such it is written by a team of people including trainers with 10+ years' experience in the field as well as psychometricians whose job it is to write and validate test questions. This team (NASM) uses the textbook (course) material to write the exam questions. They provide the items you see in the study guide as the items they identify as the areas they are testing on. NASM organizes the writing and development of the material and this same team writes the quiz and practice test questions. These will never be the same questions as on the exam, but they will be the same topics.

additionally, there are 20 research questions on the accredited exam that are throughout the test (no special identifiers, same as the other questions) these are not on our material necessarily and they do not count for them or against them.  This is standard for accredited exams you can find this on other accredited exams in other fields of work as well. Other research questions are demonstrating the critical thinking skills based on information learned in our course so they will ask questions that go further than the textbook, but based on the information learned they should be able to answer the question.

Lastly, there are industry questions that are not from our material at all but based on industry common knowledge.  These are typically the ones to stress out the customer the most as they are not found in our material.  Again, this is standard for accredited exams, and the questions do not count for them or against them.  Overall, the exam was built directly from our material by an experienced team, the study guide is directly from this team on areas to prepare for the exam.  The exam questions themselves are tested thousands of times before they are allowed on the exam.

For additional content assistance, we encourage you contact our member services team. Ensuring that all our customers have a positive experience is of utmost importance to us, and we would be happy to assist.

    Thank you,

I originally took the course (CPT) in October of 2016 and had no issues. I was able to get through the course remaining in contact with NASM customer service when needed, and I was able to schedule my final exam after my first attempt. I held the certification until I let it expire in 2021 since I was no longer a personal trainer and did not have time to complete the CEUs on time. I contacted NASM about re-enrollment in January of this year, 2023 and of course was promptly responded to. I updated my address and my phone number, signed up for the course and started studying immediately. It wasnt until I tried contacting someone that my book was delivered to the wrong address, that I realized I was going to have issues. I let it roll off of my back and continued studying, until I missed my final exam window. I reached out to NASM stating I had family issues (mom had cancer) and would have no issue paying to extend my course so I can pass my final exam. No contact, phone call or email back. This is not the same NASM I enrolled in back in 2016. Its a shame, they have my money but I have no certification. I will never recommend NASM ever again- regardless of how great of a reputation they have held in the industry. I want my money back.

They are thieves. If you have a mental illness and disability it isn't sufficient enough to cancel your certification. Even after your psychiatrist express concerns in a form of a letter to the NASM organization. They will absolutely fool you make you pay and of course never take care of there clients.Horrible, unfair and definitely unprofessional.

3 STARS .... The Certificate is well respected, but maintaining the CEUs requires a HEAVY work load every other year. I have been a NASM trainer for 7 years, and I am debating keeping my license strictly do to the demands of CEUs requirements. The requirements are more expensive, more time consuming, and more strenuous than maintaining a medical Nurses license. (My *************** are Oncology and ER Nurses and they do not have to spend half the time or money I have to do just to be a Personal Trainer.) It is absurd. For example- I took a 3+ month course, and an online & in person CPR class .... and it was not enough to qualify to keep my license. I am now doing another course to make up the "0.4" CEUs still needed. I work 5 days a week as a trainer, I run my own fitness company, and I am a Mother and wife. I juggle a lot. So adding 4 months of NASM classes this year has been really strenuous. Just a warning- know what you're getting into. You will be a student, every other year, for as long as you keep the NASM license. Maybe find another path.

Worst educational system Ive ever experienced. Everything I studied land the practice test wasnt even on the exam. It was misleading and questions were set up to intentionally mislead people especially if the person has a form of disability. I reached out to PSI and sent in my disability forms from elementary and college and still didnt accept it. Which made my process much difficult for me. It is discouraging and the people at NASM. Have been rude to me and have given me the run around so many times. So much money and time has been spent on this program. Never did I ever feel I would be redirecting my career due to an exam which is not set up for everyone. It is disappointing! And if youre actually going to teach and help those who are looking to use this career to help others. Then f****** make sure your Q&A from the practice exam is on the actual exam. How is it that I passed my practice exams but didnt pass the actual exam. NASM needs to Structure it in a way that its user friendly to everyone including people with dyslexia! WORTS EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM
