We were approached by a man representing himself as an employee of Interlay Paving and Masonry to lay an asphalt coating over our existing driveway. The work was completed quickly and came with a 5 year warranty. Immediately there were spots that were crumbling and we asked for them to come back to fix them. Our numbers were immediately blocked. I sent a message on their website that I expect a response or I would report them immediately for fraud. Their website is now inactive. We are assuming it was not a legitimate company and I’m not even sure if his workers were being paid.

This comapny/ a young gentleman and his father came to my brother's house and said it looked like he needed some work on his roof. Well they started the job and did a very poor job, then "found" other things to work on, but they never came back to finish the job. They came back and ask him to take out a loan and they would do more work and came back a second time saying they came for money. My brother told them, he would not take out a loan and that he has this contract and they didn't finish. They soon left when he said he was going to get a lawyer. They also left trash behind and a rope up on his roof. Told him they would send a woman out to clean the house for him when finished, that didn't happen. and We don't' believe they had permits.

I was approached by a man offering to pave my driveway with asphalt millings for 10k. I had never heard of recycled asphalt. I was given a business card with a website. The website had reviews, pictures and detailed information about the product and the work offered. The gentleman gave me a local address where he had just completed a job so I could see his work. It looked good. I asked many questions and the answers were satisfactory (longevity, maintenance, durability with northern Ontario’s winter weather). I was hesitant but I figured with the 5 year warranty he offered indicating that all work was fully guaranteed, I could take the risk. Also, he indicated on my written contract that he would be back in 6 weeks to seal my driveway for 400$. About 3 weeks after his crew came to lay the asphalt millings and compact, it became clear that I was misinformed. There were dips where water pooled and multiple spots where there were no fine particles but solely loose gravel so there would never be binding in those areas. I attempted reaching out to him to request that those areas be repaired (calls and text) but never got a response. Evidently, my warranty will never be honoured and he was a no-show for sealing day, as per my contract. The website now showed a different logo and phone number. He did not answer those calls either. I reached out to OPP in response to articles about paving scams but since the product and initial service were given, I am encouraged to go another route to resolve the matter of not honouring the warranty or the follow-up job.

We hired Icon construction to pave our driveway. We met him, gave him a deposit 9200 he disappeared never showed up never returned calls. Website is down and off of thumbtack where we found him. Name Keith Ackerson

This business was in my neighborhood in late August, 2025. The person I dealt with was named John, whose little boy showed up at my house on 8/24/25 asking if I needed work done on my driveway. When John showed up at my house a couple hours later, we discussed replacing the back steps by my garage. Only a verbal exchange was given about the work. I did not sign any proposal, estimate, or give him any money. In fact, he told me to not worry about a downpayment, and we'd "deal with the money later". He said the cost for the job would be $2,300, but that it was a "special deal, so don't tell anyone I'm giving you this price". John's son had given me a business card with the company name, website, email address, and phone number (317-429-6716) on it, but the card did not have John's nor any other person's name on it. John gave me no last name. I received a piece of paper in my door the next day (8/25/25) with the company's website and email address, and John's phone number (651-703-8044), but which looked like it was someone else's work proposal. There were multiple boxes checked that had nothing to do with the work we'd discussed. I called John right away to let him know we had not talked about any work to be done on the boxes checked on the sheet and he told me not to worry about it, he was only doing the steps. On September 1, I came home to find that my back steps AND the whole back sidewalk was torn out. I called John to ask why the sidewalk had been torn out, and he said "my guys did that", and not to worry, he'd "take care of it and talk to me tomorrow". When John came to my house the next day, Sept. 2, 2025, he tried to justify why he had demolished the back sidewalk, citing issues with the back steps by the house that had nothing to do with the sidewalk. I told him I had not asked for the sidewalk to be removed, and that I needed him to replace it. He told me he would, but that the cost would be $25,000 for the sidewalk and steps, which he told me was a "special low price, so don't tell anyone I'm giving you this price". I told him that I did not have that kind of money and, again, I had not asked for the sidewalk to be removed. He kept trying to give me all sorts of reasons to justify its removal and, at the end of this whole incident, he left with his crew, who I spoke to in their truck, who told me that John had told them to remove the sidewalk. I texted John that afternoon and told him no further work was to be done on my property or he would face legal action. He has not contacted me since. I did not, at any point in time, give him any money, or sign any kind of proposal, estimate, or contract. The two pieces of paper he gave me for his contact information were two different proposals only signed by him, and looked like copies of other people's work proposals. When I talked to my next door neighbors to warn them about this, my neighbor showed me the EXACT SAME paper I had been given. After some research, I discovered that the 317 number belongs to a private resident in Indiana, per White Pages search, and when it's called, an operator voice answers and says "the person you are calling is not accepting calls at this time" and then hangs up. The address on the website, when searched with Google Earth, shows an empty lot. The buildings around it do not have any indicators that this business exists. The website and email addresses on the business card and paper proposals look like they match each other but, on closer inspection, there are many typos so do not exactly match each other. Again, I did not pay any money to John nor his 'business', nor did I sign any proposal, estimate, nor contract, but I could have been out $25K, and I want others to be aware of this guy and his shady 'business' and practices.

The individual stated he had a business and asked to fix my driveway.

A man came to my door wanting to repair my driveway. He gave me a quote which we thought was reasonable. So we agreed to have it done. His crew of 5 or so men came; I believe they were Mexican. They immediately started to break up the existing driveway. They had pick axes etc. The next day they showed up with professional equipment: a dump truck, and asphalt roller. They asked to use our leaf bags. They finished the driveway but had piles of asphalt on both sides of the driveway. They asked for cash which I wasn’t prepared for. I said I wouldn’t pay until they cleared up all the debris. They started giving me attitude and asked “don’t you trust us?” There is still a lot of debris in leaf bags and bins. Which is too heavy for us or the garbage people to remove. They also dumped dirt, asphalt and sod into my gardens. They did come back for the asphalt which was all over my property. I called the company many times but Tom, the owner, said he was working in Cambridge and would come by when in the area. But then he said we don’t pick up dirt. I sent him an email and the email came back the next day undeliverable. I looked on the website and the website is bogus. The email and address are fake, pictures are not theirs and you are unable to leave a review. There are pictures on their website are of another companies equipment. My driveway was completed but how well it was done I won’t know for a while. My neighbour at 651 Headley Drive called the company shown in their website photos, Eagle Paving, and he said you’ve been had by the Irish Bandits.” They are a father son team, Tom senior and son Tom, and are well known in Ontario for scamming people. Mario of Eagle Paving said to my neighbour that we had paid way too much for the work. They also broke my eves trough. The job was done September 8, 9th but I am still unable to park my car on it.

The person, Tom and his father Tom senior came to my home to offer to do my driveway. I accepted the offer. I was later told it was to be paid in cash which made me a little suspicious. I believe they did a good job, however, when I started getting really suspicious is when I had to contact them to remove yard waste they had left on my property. That is when I discovered the email address didn't work, the address is a mall in Sudbury and the the website doesn't allow reviews. They also had photos of another companies paving equipment in their photos. I contacted Eagle Paving in Mississauga and spoke with Mario at this number 905-616-1319 and he said we had been had by the Irish Bandits. I told him they were using a photo on their website of his equipment with his name companies name on it. He was very upset. He said he has been trying to catch them for years. They have done a lot of damage in the Ontario area.

New Top Asphalt visited my residence in June 2024 and insisted my spouse of having my driveway paved with 10years warranty . We decided to pave our driveway based on the online review ratings about this business, not knowing that we shouldn't trust online reviews. Therefore, the driveway was finally paved on June 14, 2024 for $5500. It was only one month after paving my driveway and I noticed few cracks on newly paved driveway. I then tried to contact the person who visited my house, by phone multiple times. Fortunately, I could get hold of him only once. He promised me that he will come back to repave the whole driveway, but I didn't realize that it was a false promise as the scammers make. I tried contacting him via phone calls, texts and emails but, all was just waste of my time. It's been only a year and there are cracks all over my driveway, vegetation growth through asphalt and sunken asphalt at the wheel path. I even noticed indentations of garbage bins (blue, black and green bins) on the surface where I store them. I learnt the lesson, but I suggest you to stay away from these fraudsters, knocking on your door.

This business is running a bait and switch scheme. A 19 year old came in to my salon and said he had some leftover asphalt and asked if I wanted him to fix my parking lot. I said sure, how much… he said $7 per square foot and that he did not have much asphalt. I told him to cover the dip in my lot and to let me know a cost. He never came back in and shared a cost. A bunch of Hispanic workers were in the parking lot for an hour sitting, I went outside and asked what they would be repairing and the worker pointed to the pot hole. I went back in the salon to finishing working and I looked up and noticed trucks pouring a lot of asphalt and they nearly poured 75% of my parking lot. The young boy appeared and said that the cost was $14,000.00. I never got an estimate, invoice or contract to sign. I said that was insane and I just wanted to pothole fixed. He said he didn’t know how much asphalt he had and they just poured what they had. I said, I never agreed to that. The boy went on to argue with me and then took the price from 14k, to 10k then to 7k cash. Then I knew something was not right. He then panicked and said he’d lose his job and the company doesn’t care about him. I then called the company and the owner turned out to be the boys brother. This company is scamming people and getting away with it. Then the owner texted me the attached. He basically said he would pull up all the asphalt that they laid without my permission, melt it down and use on another job. I am a hardworking small business. It’s sad that companies like this prey on people like us. I’ve since read their reviews and this is not the first time that they’ve done a bait and switch scam.

They paved our driveway and gave us a 7 year warranty and it was supposed to be 3 in thick and it is 1/2 an inch if lucky. Called several times and promised to come back and never have and now they will not take our calls

I call them to give me a estimate. Came by for the estimate the following day, liked what would have been done and signed. He told it could be done the next week. He show up the next day without telling me. Number one, he said he would cut up the concrete in front of the garage and would remove it. Second, They started cutting the concrete until the code enforcer drove by and stopped. Ask them what they were doing and their reply was the were Cutting in a drain tile. They did not finish and asphalted over it. Third, They DID NOT get a permit which I am now in some legal trouble. , He refuses to help.

Hired to paint roof. Did not complete work. Roof half painted. Left with our money and unable to contact. Promised to reattend we’re not fulfilled.

Man in a white truck drove into my dad's paved yard on July 22nd in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario, and told him he would give him a good deal to seal his already paved driveway. He then proceeded to take out a hose from his truck (without my dad's consent) and started spraying right in the middle of the driveway. He had already started spraying so my dad let him do more. Once he was halfway done, he told my dad he needed to pay him $12K to finish the job. My dad ended up paying him $11K cash because that's all the money he had on him. The job was terrible quality and 5 times the price of what an average coating would normally cost. He was pushy, and even had his friends in 2 other trucks meet him at the end of the driveway. So my dad felt threatened which is why he ended up paying. Horrible way for someone to take a 75 year old man's money for a crappy job. He told him there as a 3 year warranty. My dad asked for it at the end, and the guy gave him an invoice (NOT a warranty paper at all). I looked up their website, and the address is fake - there is no Triple A Paving at that address. The phone number is inactive. So this is not a legitimate business. They used to be under the name On Top Paving and Triple T Paving (I believe, from my research). The invoice provided to my dad had the email address [email protected] and number 437-849-4026 and the name on the bottom is Xiaotian Gao. GST/HST # *********

? Business Name: Pave Pro Paving (claims to be from Inwood, WV) Date of Service: April 2025 & August 2025 Complaint Type: Poor Quality of Service / Possible Scam ? In April 2025, Pave Pro Paving stopped by my mother’s home in south central PA unannounced, claiming they had “leftover millings from a job down the road.” They offered to grade and roll millings, then spray tar. My mother agreed. The work was poorly done — they left a mess of grass and gravel, and by August, vegetation was already growing through the middle of the driveway. In August 2025, the company showed up again, stating they were “in the area checking back in” and once again claimed to have leftover material. They offered to expand the driveway, which my mother agreed to. Afterward, they sprayed tar and left quickly. When I confronted them about the poor quality of the work (uneven lines, shifting edges, and a driveway that looked like loose gravel instead of rolled millings), they dismissed my concerns. One worker told me, “You can’t stop grass from growing through pavement, even asphalt,” and sarcastically offered to spray my driveway with weed killer. The contract provided is highly suspicious: • No company address, phone number, email, or website listed • No pricing details or record of payment • No client signature approving the work • They claimed there was a 2-year warranty, but nothing in writing supports this • The original promised contract (by email) was never received Additionally, the check was cashed before the work was performed. This company appears to be operating in a predatory manner: showing up uninvited, pressuring homeowners with claims of “extra millings,” performing substandard work, and leaving no valid documentation or way to contact them. I am submitting this complaint to warn others and request that the BBB investigate Pave Pro Paving for possible scam activity.

On 9/21/24 Micheal knocked on our door. (Paraphrasing all their quotes) “We are in the neighborhood doing work for (neighbors’s name and name) and we want to make you an offer to fix your driveway”. I said great as we wanted the cracks sealed and then the whole re-sealed with tar as is appropriate. I was upsold HARD and told that they would give me such a deal on resurfacing the whole thing. I was pressured into accepting which I am ashamed of. They didn’t remove the old black top but made a big deal about putting down 2 inches of new on top of the old. “It’s less expensive for you and will make it stronger”. I now know that the old should have been removed or at minimum dressed for reception of the new. I asked for additional drain at the top of our drive to direct road drainage into the ditch as the heavy rain comes down our drive and into our garage. Initially they sold me on an installed grated drain and delivered a “better deal” of a berm to deflect water with no reduction of cost. I had to keep a constant eye on them as they would not have contoured the drainage into the down hill drain beside the house effectively. They also, to make matters worse, left an 1.5 inch lip above my garage floor. Remember the additional 2 inches of blacktop over the top of my existing? That would have caused winter rains and snow melt to flood my garage. After they were ‘done’ I was to ‘sign off on the work’, I expressed severe doubts about the quality of the black top and that I knew that the general practice was to dress the old blacktop to receive the new. And ONLY if it was so badly damaged that resurfacing was warranted. Our drive only had cracks and was weathered. The new blacktop was very course and water was draining through it. I was concerned that water would freeze between layers and lift the new from the old as there had been no prep work. I was poo-pooed and made to feel like an idiot. I had to INSIST on a solution to the garage door edge. I spoke with the brother of Micheal (can’t remember his name but he’s a ‘fast talker’) who made a big show about how it was “poor shoddy work” and “all Micheal’s fault” and that “it would come out of his paycheck”. They reluctantly offered to come and install a drain “all very much at our own expense” to tie into the drainage at the bottom of the drive, which has, a year later, cracked and needs repair. All while throwing around dollar numbers and telling me what a great thing they were doing for me because (without admitting it) they KNEW that the drive SHOULD have been prepared before over paving. And finally… there is a cast iron access port to the city’s water works which is within the end of our drive. They left it sunken down that 2 inches which collects water. (I had them at least seal it with tar to prevent it chipping up with water freezing in the depression. I tried to make it ‘good’) The street has this summer been repaved and I have been informed that because the port has been altered, essentially by us, that the city can’t lift it to be level with the deck and that we must pay to have it done. Any damage to the port would be our responsibility. I attempted to contact LWM and P and the number doesn’t ring through. I thought that they had blocked me as they had promised to come and seal the drive after the curing time and I’m sure they were expecting me to call back. Yes, I did have to hound them to get ANY sort of cooperation. However, when I tried another phone the number still drops. I now need to find a reputable company to repair the city’s water works port before it is damaged or breaks someone’s ankle. I advise that anyone, if pressured into making instant decisions, to take that as a clue to step back and take the time to research the company in question for clarity. These guys use well practiced psychological tricks! They worked nearly every driveway in our dead end neighborhood and made so much money via their fast talk. And finally, they didn’t treat their workers very well at all and I had to supply they all with ice water as often as I could as they worked in the summer heat. The workers were constantly told to “HURRY, HURRY, HURRY!” in Spanish. Apologies, my photos of evidence are apparently too large to upload.

Bill Harrison came to our neighborhood and stated that he had 4-5 extra loads of asphalt from doing paving for a state contract. He offered it to us to pave roads at $5 per linear foot, 8’ wide. One neighbor agreed to have their driveway paved and the neighbors agreed to have him pave our shared roads. Bill presented the neighbor with a contract at $5 per square foot while he paved their driveway.

Ben Collins pulled into our driveway saying he had leftover hot asphalt and would give us a deal to re-do our driveway. We were not interested but my wife looked him up from what little business information was on his business card and found the BBB Scam listed. He drove a GMC large pick-up truck with flashing lights along the truck cab roof. He is a white male, about 6 feet tall, heavyset. As I am writing this, another white pickup pulled in the driveway to give us a better deal. I told him to leave or I'd call the police.

Business claimed to be doing driveway sealcoating in the area and offered a discount. They were in a red truck with a tank of sealcoating liquid and their business decal that displayed their name, phone number and the BBB logo among other things. They verbally promised a 4 year warranty on the work. After they finished doing the work, we noticed that the results were poor, including sealcoat splashes all over our siding and bare spots. They promised they would come back and touch it up later, after the first coat had cured. They never did and have been dodging calls, making false promises for months. They also gave information to others saying they were Massachusetts Professional Sealcoating, and were located at 571 Main Street Waltham, MA. The business card I was given also gave another phone number of 401-919-4774, saying Pro Sealcoating & Paving with the name Cameron on it.

A man came to the door, said he would blacktop our drive with however much he had left on the truck after he finished another job. He talked to my husband who has dementia, and had no idea how much it would cost. The man didn't give any estimate,or any paperwork. He told me husband he would sell it to him for $40 a yard, verbally. I was not home at the time. When I returned home they had already started working on it. A new full truck showed up and they put down the stuff. They made the driveway wider and took it all the way to the road. Now when it rains the water runs down the drive and into our car port. This winter it will freeze. Anyway, after they were done, he told us how much he wanted and we did not have that much. So he brought it down. I wrote a ck to him and that took almost all of our money. I just don't want this to happen to anyone else. He goes door to door telling the same story to them.

Contracted verbally to do asphalt work on my driveway, but refused to finish the job. Agreed to refund $300 but did not take accountability and will not respond either by text or phone calls after several attempts. Horrible job, just horrible.

8/9/25: Driveway sealed by Johnny Wells of Superior asphalt. Says he laid the asphalt for our driveway 3 years ago, although I later discovered that the company name was Williams Paving then. Would not give me an estimate, but after doing it, he wanted over $5000. I refused to pay it. We finally compromised on $3500, but I think I was had. He said the sealant (GSB-88) is good for 15 years and he said he would give me a written warranty, but he left without giving me one. I could not find an estimated price online for GSB-88, but the product was estimated to last about 5 years. Could not find the company or his name listed. There was an entry on BBB for a Johnny Wells Paving that said he is not approved by BBB in the Tyler area. I tried to call him at the number he left to notify him that I was stopping payment on the check, but the number was not in service. I stopped payment on the check on the same day because he was evasive about the cost and had declined to give me and estimate, didn't give the guarantee he promised, falsely presented himself as someone with whom I had a prior business relationship, and may have misrepresented his name and company to gain my trust. For all I know, he may have just spray painted my driveway black. I worry what will happen to my yard the next time it rains. There were three men in the large (one ton?) red pickup with diesel engine, crew cab and dually rear wheels. There was a spray tank and hose in the bed, and he used the hose to spray the driveway. The process took about 20 minutes total. He said we could use the driveway in an hour, but after 3 hours, it was sticky and marked our shoes.

The company knocked on our door. They were in the neighbourhood doing work. Would we be interested in getting our driveway re-paved? They did the job, but there was negative interaction with our neighbour. Our neighbour asked the workers if he should move the cars. He asked them twice, but they did not say it was necessary. A careless worker threw down a sledgehammer, and it bounced up and hit the neighbour's car. There was no damage, but the neighbour decided to move their vehicle, and the workers were rude; they almost got into a fight. The business has no address on its card or website. I was routed directly to the guys we spoke with when I called the number. They have no record of doing business with us and provided me with a fake address. They did the work they said they would do, but we have no recourse if we have any problems in the future.

Smooth talking male banging on house door saying they were in the area dong roads had just a little bit of rock left would do the driveway for $280. Male saying i was not married and was lieing about talking to my husband, very very unpleasant individual

Asphalt scam. This owner of the company called me claiming to have a great offer if I let him do my driveway. I said I was only accepting offers to consider but planning to do it next spring. He said he had a job cancel on him and would lose the asphalt allocated to him and if I was to save him he would give me a good deal. He ended up quoting $22,700. I didn't have a chance to research the company, fast talking sales person, said he owned the company and to trust him blah blah. I agreed and they came to do the job around 1pm. When I saw the first half of the job it was horrible, they laid asphalt on top of my concrete patio instead of a clean edge (pictures available). When I called him, he said "oh sorry, I didn't tell the men there was a patio here, that is my fault. We will fix it". All he did was roll over it to flatten the edge on top of the concrete. Still looking horrible. Then around the patio door, the laid asphalt so thick, water runs into the house instead of away from it (pictures available). The asphalt was cold and not well pressed, its all in clumps and only 3 days after the job was done, the asphalt can be kicked loose by just walking on it. They did not level the driveway and several areas collect water. They moved items onto the grass and when done, they left everything in a pile of mess (pictures). They left clumps of asphalt on the grass, borders extremely irregular, Variable thickness of asphalt along the way (pictures). The entrance of the driveway from the asphalt road, they laid my asphalt over the asphalt road about half to one inch thick and just left it. I told him the snow plough will rip that edge up on the first snow fall. Everything I point out he argued was nothing wrong with it, that's the way it should be!! Then he argued that I was not letting him finish the job, that he was still there and when he's done it will be perfect. But it was obvious he just wanted to rush through and there was no repairing the asphalt after it got cold. But he insisted it can all be fixed, just let him finish. Then he rushed half the crew and equipment off the job and said he was just keeping 4 guys and they would take care of things. They worked slower and it got to 9pm. What he had told me would be a 2 day job, he was rushing to finish in one day (less than 7hours) and with half the crew. The result is a huge mess that has completely devalued a million dollar home. All pictures show the disaster that I was left with. He then came to me demanding full payment for $22,700 even though he agreed that a lot needed to be fixed. He yelled and intimidated me with another guy he brought with him during the day but never introduced him, and the group of Mexican workers he had. (I am a single woman living alone). I told him at some point I will not be bullied and there is so much wrong with this job but everything I brought up, he acted like I was nagging him and as if I was nitpicking, even though the pictures clearly show what a horrible job this is. At one point, I posted a few pictures of the project on next door neighbor asking strangers opinions, tens of responses came stating it was a horrible job, not one response was in favor. I showed him the responses, he still argued and said they were not professionals and he demanded payment and got really aggressive. He asked to send him personally payment, I said where is the company account, he said I am the owner it is all the same. He demanded the money be transferred to his personal account not the company account. Payment was made with the agreement that they would return in a couple of days to fix all the identified problems. He refused to return and keeps coming up with lame excuses. Not only was the job horrible but he rushed the men out of here where they did not clean up after themselves. Left Tshirts and water bottles thrown all over my yard. They did not return anything they moved back to where it was. Pictures available to show the mess.

I was approached at my home by an individual offering driveway services.. He stated that they were working in the area and could provide professional driveway installation while we were completing other property upgrades. The contractor who introduced himself as "Ed" who claimed to be the owner of the company, represented that: A laser would be used to properly grade and pitch the property for correct water drainage. 6.5 inches gravel/ item 4 would be installed and fully compacted. three inches of asphalt would be installed and properly compacted. Belgium blocks would be carefully removed and reinstalled with a cement footer for stability and level finish, including aliment with neighbor's driveway. The completed driveway would have a perfect pitch, proper aesthetics, and meet professional standards. Once the work began, none of these promises were fulfilled: No laser or proper grading equipment was used. Driveway was not pitched correctly; asphalt was laid up to the garage door, creating drainage concerns. The gravel base was not installed with thicknesses as stated. Belgium blocks were installed without a footer, misaligned, uneven, and inconsistent in height and appearance. Workers used my materials(wood, sand, cones. Workers entered my garage without permission. As a result a classic 1993 Mercedes belonging to my son was scratched during the work. After pointing out these deficiencies, the contractor stated that he "did his best" and still demanded full payment. When I refused, citing the defective and incomplete work, I was intimidated and threatened that he would "come and tear up the driveway" I just wanted what was contracted and I had no objection to them removing their work, but instead, the harassment continued. Additionally, there was confusion over who actually owned the company. First, one individual claimed to be the owner, then another arrived claiming ownership. This "good guy/bad guy" tactic appeared to be an attempt to pressure and confuse me into paying for substandard work. Turned out to be brothers. I believe this operation is deceptive in nature, possibly fraudulent designed to pressure homeowners into on-the-spot contracts and payments for work that is neither properly performed nor professionally warranted.

They are going door to door asking to pave driveways, telling you that your driveways will be patched and leveled out. My driveway looks like crap and is pealing. It was just done a few days ago. The company is not returning my calls. I can not find a address for them.

The scammers came in a bright red Rod pickup truck which looked nice and new. They pulled up in my driveway as I was walking to my kitchen door. I thought they were just going to tun around because they were going the wrong way? No , they kept coming up the driveway with the driver waving a piece of paper to get my attention. My mistake. When the got out the truck, they started the talking about being here before and about their “old man” having a heart attack and in the hospital. They just kept it up as if my husband used them before. They kept telling me gthat they were going to give me all kinds of discounts. In the meantime I was remembering my son-in-law’s advise about getting my driveway done and making sure they put a sealant down. They insistent on doing while they were there. So I agreed. I only remember the one guy’s name because he is the one who spoke to me first and he introduced himself. His name was Santino Mitchell. They did the sealant and then came to the door to get paid. I needed to know who to make the check out to so I asked for a card. The other guy just handed me a paper with company name, phone number, with a list of some of their jobs with a picture of a container with $49.99. The guy said to make the check out to Santino Mitchell and Santino said, “with two l’s.” I questioned why I should make the check out to Santino and not the company name but he insisted Santino. When I asked how much I almost fell over. He quoted me $6,679! I of said,”What!. Then he said I’ll give you a discounted pay $5900. So I replied how about $5500 to see if he would agree which he did. However he made me promise not to tell any of my neighbors how much I paid. I ma de out the check and they left. Afterwards I really started questioning everything and realized I was scammed. All of the took less than an hour—them taking and pushing and me not thinking, When I settled down, I went online and typed, who is Santino Mitchell. To my surprise it came up with the named pictures of a criminal in Florida! Then I did the telephone number and up came the BBB Notice about the paver scammers in Damascus, MD! My bank was closed at 4 and then I started thinking that my money was gone. To my surprise, the ba no called me the next morning. Santino took my check in to cash it and the manager at the bank questioned it and called. She asked if I wanted it stopped. I said”Yes!” Then I called Montgomery County 311, explained what happened. I was transferred to the police; I told my story again. A police officer was sent to my home. Just before the officer came, Santino came from the bank to see why I stopped the check. I told him it was too much and I would still pay but not that much. He was friendly and smiling until I told him that I called the police. He got excited said, “never mind, you got it for nothing.” He kept walking to his car. No sooner did he leave, when the police officer came up my driver. I told the officer the whole story. I showed him the picture of Santino on my iPad and the notice on BBB. He took pictures of both. I am still having a hard time blaming myself for being soooo stupid paying the scammers but I am glad I stopped them! I felt it’s better I felt ashamed but I did stop others from getting scammed.

Two asphalt “contractor” men showed up at our house on Friday, July 25th, 2025, around 10:20am, honked, and said they had extra asphalt and they could do our driveway (which we said we needed it, because the side of part of it was way sunken down). They said they were finishing up a project in Bergen park, Evergreen, and were trying to recoup the value of the product. So I called my husband and we decided to do it, felt serendipitous, at the time. They said it was 3.75 a sqft, but they could not give us a quote. Seemed okay at the time, and like we were maybe going to get a good deal. They came back with a crew around 12pm and were waiting for more equipment. They started the work around 2:15pm and did the job extremely fast, in 45 minutes, and also paved some of the neighbors driveway (very hastily and he did not approve this), and left a mess on the main road. I have pictures and video of all this. Partway through the job, the leader of the group (who rolled up in a white Escalade), asked a worker to come to the door to ask me for a beer. Things started to seem strange once this happened. I then noticed that they were all in street clothes, there was no company branding on vehicles, and the main leader was smoking a cigarette. At this point, the job was almost complete so there was nothing I could do and they started talking about how good it looked and what we owed. I just listened to our ring doorbell, and they said it was 2,000 sqft, but when he rings the doorbell, he says it’s 2,600. Anyways, I tried to pay and the payment kept coming up as fraud. Then next person I was in contact with, whom I was paying through some sort of credit card app in his phone, says “oh yeah, it always comes up as fraudulent from chase”. Part of it ended up going through, but they wanted the rest in cash so we went to the bank, they followed us there, got them the rest, as we felt extremely pressured to do so. We wanted to withhold the rest of the payment, as they said they were going to come finish up a corner in Monday, but we have two little kids and we felt scared they were criminals and know where we live. I believe their LLC is registered in Spokane, WA. Once we got home, we assessed the work done. The asphalt is supposed to be at least 1.5 inches thick, it was less than an inch in some places, crumbly, and uneven.

They tore up ** ******* driveway and made them pay to repair it

Did not repair and claimed warrenty was expired Waited it out to come and repair even though we contacted within weeks of job. Came by and said he had leftover material and was in the area already. Used pea gravel and nnot enough tar material Has several complaints already on file Not an honest company.

The guys were driving around in our neighborhood and approached me twice, lowering the price each time they talked to be about paving my driveway. Once I agreed to them doing the driveway, their crew descended within minutes. One of the men, came to my door midway through the job was done and demanded that I pay them cash. I told him I would do an e-transfer but he refused, said it had to be cash. I went to the bank and got the cash and inspected the work before I paid them. Already there were cracks along the edges so I had them fix them. They also stole a push broom from my garage. They told me that I had to wait 30 days to get the driveway sealed. I called them about a week after the 30 day mark and the voicemail was not set up at the number. Someone did call me back but said that they were running a bit behind due to the rainy weather. At this point I was suspicious and looked up the address on their website only to find out it was the UPS store nearby and that the company had just started in April 2025 (they did my driveway in May 2025) Since then, the number has been disconnected and the website taken down. My driveway now have many cracks in it already and I recently found out it should have been sealed immediately after it was done. The sealing was part of the contact. I also found out that other neighbors have had even shoddier work done by the same people and never had theirs sealed either. The one guy's name was John (probably in his 40's) and the other James (Looked to be in his 20's or early 30's), both had British accents. They had men who spoke Spanish working for them

A white work truck with a yellow ladder on top with the company name Danny & Sons Asphalt Refurbishing stopped by our home and asked if we wanted any work done to our driveway. We were looking to have the garage floor painted and the driveway sealed. He offered to do both that same day. He said he could give us a deal as he had leftover material from the job he just left. We are still not sure of what he covered the garage floor with. It looked like a powder concreate that he said would harden but it never did. He patched an area in our driveway and said he would be back to sealcoat it. They also left footprints of the powdered concrete material which is now stuck to our driveway. We believe he blocked our number. He wasn't answering so we called from another phone line which he answered and said he would be back in a couple days. That was over a week ago. He told us that the two young men working with him were his sons. Beware...we are out quite a bit chunk of money and we now have to pay to have it all redone.

Had an asphalt driveway replaced 1 1/2 weeks ago by Baufirm Paving, a Kitchener, Ontario business. The company representative, James Welch, came to my door and told me they were finishing another job in my Hamilton neighbourhood. He said they had materials left and made me a great offer. The contract indicates that there is a 7 year warranty on the work. Payment was to be made a soon as the job was done. Oddly, my e-transfer payment had to go to a company called Tamster Global Inc.. The crew did not do the thorough clean up promised. More importantly the driveway has large areas of rough surface. I contacted them about the clean up and the surface issues (I texted a picture). My initial contacts with them resulted in 3 appointments in which they stood me up with no follow up. Now they do not return my texts at all. My phone calls to the company in Kitchener were not returned. I finally made phone contact at the business today and spoke with James. He said they would be back in Hamilton around the end of the month and would look at it then. I don't think that is good enough considering the surface of the driveway. I believe I have been scammed even though the company seems to be legitimate. Yet there is no mention of them on the BBB website. **** ** * ** ****

This companies m.o is driving around and looking for bad driveways and once they find one that needs work they hop out and feed you a line that they have leftover materials from a job they just finished and that they want to use the rest on your driveway at a really discounted price and for added benefit you dont have to pay "right now" however when you ask how much its going to be they wont tell you. At the end they told me the "discounted" price was just shy of $14000. These guys are con artists

Business claimed that they would kill weeds, fill cracks, and apply a coating of asphalt to driveway for $750. They did NOT kill weeds or fill cracks. They sprayed a very thin coating over the weeds, cracks and driveway. Application was extremely thin, it sprayed black onto the landscaping rocks, and did NOT improve the look of the driveway. A phone call to the owner was accepted and he promised to send someone out to remedy the issues in a day or two. NO ONE EVER CAME BACK. The charge was $750. It was paid by check, which was cashed immediately. This business is a scam!

This happened to my parents on June 24, 2025. A road maintenance construction company pulled up to my parents' home. They are both in their mid 80s. They claimed to have been working nearby on a road repair and had leftover asphalt that they could put on their driveway at a really great deal. He quoted a price per foot, but when finished said they owed him per square foot. My parents were confused because they thought they might have to pay $1,500 for a patch job, using whatever was leftover in their truck. They wound up paving their entire driveway (front and back of the house) and gave them a bill for $64,000, to be paid immediately. My parents felt like they had to pay, which went on to three different credit cards. My parents live off of their pensions and can absolutely not afford this. They never would have agreed to a $64,000 new driveway. They were scared. I drove 1.5 hours up to their home immediately and called the credit cards to refuse payment, and called the local police department. And today I found that someone else has reported this company to the BBB, only their complaint was for a Harrison Asphalt Company, using the same 800-208-0554 phone number. The invoice that they left behind had no other physical/e-mail addresses.

I had spoken with T.C.B. Paving Company in September 2023 about sealing my driveway. They had just finished sealing my neighbor's driveway, and came to my door asking to seal my driveway. The person I spoke with, gave me an estimate of $800. At that time, I told him that it was to late in the year, and I would contact him spring 2024. I had some health issue and it wasn't until this year, 2025, that I contacted T. C. B. about sealing my driveway. A different person came to my door, then the one that I had spoken with in 2023. I had called T. C. B. two days prior to them doing the job, and the person I spoke with August C. ******** *** was "gun-ho" to seal my drive way and said he would be out at 1:00 PM on June 4th. He showed up approx. 6:00 pm and I mentioned that it was a little late, but he indicated he would do as much as he could. (By the way, he had his 3 year old son with him.) He started the work, and since it was getting dark, said he would be back early the next morning, on his way to a very important job in Laurel, MD, and could he have his payment at that time, since he would be showing up very early they next day. He asked for a check of $900, ($100 more then the estimated quote, in 2023.) Since he did not show up the next morning, I stopped payment on the check, that cost me $30.00, but it had already been cashed. It was not until 6 days later that he showed up, again late in the day, and with out notice and while I was out, and no caution signs had been put at the end of the driveway, and not knowing, I drove onto the drive way, getting blacktop sealer over my car. The quality of work was done poorly, there are spots on the driveway without any sealer, plus he did not prep the driveway, there is blacktop sealer all over my plants, it is just a poor job. Everyone is asking, who did you driveway. I child could have done a better job. This guy, should not be calling himself a business person, plus I feel I have been taken advantage by this con-artist.

A company by the name All Pro Paving and Sealing offered to fix my gravel driveway with their asphalt milling. The cost was $10000.00 cash. They would apply a sealer for $2500.00 check. After rains and driving on it, it looks terrible. It's worse than gravel driveway. It tracks a mess in my home and vehicles. The work was done on 1/28/2025. The contact lied when my wife called him and now won't answer or return calls.

Whitlow Paving out of West Virginia contracted to pave a parking lot. He took the $7000 deposit and never completed the lot. Only one third was paved way below industry standard, and in a very unprofessional service and product. The paving is uneven, thicker in some places without proper water runoff. He left the job with Asphalt all over, construction debris and did not come back to complete the contract. .

People have come to our house, angry, wanting their money back. Paving jobs not complete. Asphalt quoted for cash jobs. Reclaimed product used, not actual asphalt. Owner claims they will come back to repair and complete but never do. Angry customers are coming to my house!!!!! A young man pulled into our driveway, in a large, red pickup truck with no plates on the front of the truck. He talked with my husband about filling holes and cracks in the driveway and sealcoating. He said he worked the southern Wisconsin area and northern IL area, for this company he said was based in St. Louis, MO. called C.O.R.E. Asphalt & Sealcoating LLC. They do both residential and commercial. [email protected] 573-822-9990. Listed his cell # as 675-1184, but no area code given. The quote would have been $1600.00, but he said he could do it today for $900.00.

This morning (May 22, 2025), a dark gray, newer diesel pickup truck pulled into my driveway in Salem, Oregon. Two young men (possibly twins) got out of the vehicle and approached my front door. They claimed to work for “Summit Asphalt Company” and said they had leftover asphalt from a previous job. They offered to repave my driveway, estimating it to be 15,000 square feet, and quoted a price of $6,500. Their pitch was unsolicited, and the manner felt rushed and suspicious. They didn’t provide any business identification, written estimate, or license information. I declined the offer and they eventually left. I’m concerned this may be part of a known paving scam and wanted to report it to protect others in the area.

The company went door to door offering asphalt services in and around Bolton Caledon area. They asked for cash for a quick job and provided a contract however since the said job it was poorly done, potholes left, mess and discoloration. They do not answer the phone or repond to emails. They promised a warranty st the 12 month mark and 24 month however it is unlikely they will come back.

A man approached my husband and talked him into a asphalt driveway. My husband agreed. He has Alzheimer's. I came home and the driveway was already dug up. Told him my husband was sick and couldn't okay this. Then he told me the driveway would be 4.85 or square yard . Something I don't understand. I have had a brain injury and two months ago I had major surgery and radiation for cancer in my neck. I am totally at fault I okayed it. Thinking it was going to be 5-10 thousand dollars. He was finish and gave me a bill for 50,000. I told him I don't even have that much money. And I called my son. He came over with the police. They told me nothing I could do because I okayed it. My son talked him down to 35,000. And I paid it with all my savings. I'm worried about paying my bills now. And I'm all alone in this.

It was a driveway paving scam. They came to my house and offered to "use up" the rest of their leftover crushed blacktop for a reasonable price. $9500.00 for a rolled gravel driveway. I paid them because I was afraid to not pay but it is a scam. They rushed my decision and my payment. I stopped payment on the check.

Paving Scam - Paving crew in brand new vehicles using name United Road Construction. Tag on vehicles is URC USDOT 2611562. These people are very deceptive and will say they are a road crew complete with red lights and yellow safety vests. They say that they can't work that day and have extra or leftover asphalt and will offer you a deal. Except it is not a deal. It starts small, then the price goes up. The work is terrible quality but they are counting on you not to know its bad. They are in a big hurry to take your money and leave.

They paved the driveway with asphalt but didnt do a good job, promising to come back and reseal it as well as a 5 year fully guaranteed warranty. None of the forms of communication they provided work.

John the owner said if I wasn’t satisfied, I don’t pay until I’m satisfied. Which before the work was done he came to collect the money. Which he wanted it in cash. I called him over a handful of times the first two times he answered and then he stopped answering and then my husband called and didn’t answer for him . My husband did leave a message but no return phone call. I got my driveway paved which is grainy like the asphalt was not padded down good enough . My rain spout was damaged also in this process.
