We engaged Rockland Paving and Masonry after they made an unsolicited offer while working in our neighborhood. At the time, we were actively seeking a contractor to complete repairs required by our insurance company, and their offer to paint our home and repair the roof of our four-season porch seemed timely. On October 1, 2025, Rockland Paving and Masonry replaced the rubber roof on our porch. The agreed-upon price was $10,000 if paid in cash, or $11,400 otherwise. After completing the initial installation, we paid $5,000 in cash toward the project. When they returned the next day, October 2, 2025, my husband immediately pointed out that the roof was defective—there were visible rolls, ripples, wrinkles throughout, and unsealed seams. Rockland Paving and Masonry acknowledged the issues and assured us they could fix them, but said they needed to return with a different crew and additional tools. Before leaving, they requested an additional $4,000 of the remaining balance, which we paid in good faith based on their verbal assurances. That was the last time we saw or heard from Rockland Paving and Masonry. They stopped showing up, ignored our phone calls and emails, and a formal demand letter sent to the address listed on their business card was returned as undeliverable. We are senior citizens, and this experience has severely impacted us by depleting our retirement savings. We need to pursue any and all options available to recover the money Rockland Paving and Masonry scammed from us. The funds paid to them are now needed to hire a qualified, ethical professional to replace the defective and now leaking roof Rockland Paving and Masonry installed. We are pursuing every avenue available to recover the money lost to Rockland Paving and Masonry’s deceptive and unethical practices, and we respectfully request the Better Business Bureau’s assistance in holding this company accountable.
