      Complaint: 21693404

      Dear Microsoft Corporation,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the response provided by your team regarding the issue I reported. Unfortunately, I must reject your response due to the following reasons:

Firstly, it is disheartening to note that the problem with our listing was resolved only after I reported it to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Prior to this, I had given Microsoft numerous opportunities to address the issue. Despite filing multiple complaints, I was repeatedly informed that no action would be taken because the search algorithm was responsible for the erroneous information.

The issue in question was a simple matter of deleting incorrect information about an unrelated company that was mistakenly included in our listing. I expected a prompt resolution from a company as reputable as Microsoft. It is disappointing to see loyal customers treated in such a manner.

Moreover, in your response, you emphasize that there is a process for handling such complaints. However, this process is evidently flawed. After almost a month, there was no resolution until the BBB was involved. This delay and the initial lack of action are unacceptable.

I truly expected better from Microsoft and its services. It is a sad day when a company of your stature fails to effectively support its customers.

      Sincerely,

      *********************

These are the facts related to this dispute:On March 26, 2024, my computer was updated by Microsoft.I went to my computer the following morning and all my Microsoft applications were missing (Word, Excel, etc.)There was a message from Microsoft indicating that I needed to download a new application.I did try to download the new application because I was in desperate need of a document for work. I used my credit card to download the application.I was never able to launch the application and never opened it on my computer. I tried reaching out to Microsoft and only got recorded messages no live support. As such, I was never able to open the document. The application was never received in a manner that I could use it.I have the entire Microsoft suite of applications through work, but it was not visible after the update from Microsoft.I never used the application. I dont need the application.Im requesting an immediate resolution to this ridiculous matter caused by Microsoft and the fact that they have access to my computer that allows them to make unwanted changes.

To Whom It May ********** are writing to express our dissatisfaction and to file a formal complaint against Microsoft for the poor quality of customer support, which significantly is impacting our small business operations.Date of Initial Contact: Ticket #****************Date opened 5/7/2024, 12:42:49 PM Multiple Calls with Support Representative: Issues occurred over several calls.Nature of the Complaint:1. Inadequate Response Time: After waiting for approximately one and a half days for a callback, the timing of the calls was highly inconvenient (starting at 7 AM without prior agreement on this timing).2. Communication Barriers: The support representative, named Pushup or similar, called from *****, and poor call quality made the communication extremely difficult. There was a notable delay in voice transmission, frequent disconnections, and an echo causing me to hear my own voice, which made the conversation nearly incoherent and impossible.3. Lack of Technical Support for macOS: the representative stated an inability to conduct a remote session after realizing the type of my operating system, which shows a lack of preparation and capability to support diverse client platforms.4. Unfulfilled Promises: The representative promised to call back in 15 minutes to resolve network issues but never called back and until the next day! leaving the issue unresolved.Resolution Sought:Given the serious nature of these issues and their impact on our business, we are seeking:Immediate and direct intervention to resolve the technical issues that we are facing.Compensation for the business time lost due to these unresolved issues.A review and improvement of Microsoft's customer support protocols, especially regarding availability and technical support capabilities for all operating systems. We trust BBB will consider this complaint seriously and help facilitate a fair resolution. Microsoft is selling "backwards compatible" XBox 360 titles. These titles do not function on the new Series X generation of XBox consoles. A request for refund for non-functioning titles has been rejected three times because they artificially limit the number of refund requests annually. Requests to either fix the emulation problems or honor the refund requests, which otherwise meet all requirements for a refund, go either unanswered or answered by a bot with a canned refusal -- attempts to reach a higher level of support have failed.

I requested a Microsoft Teams account for my home computer in October 2023. Microsoft charged a $4 monthly fee. I wanted to cancel this subscription after the first month because I began working outside the home but despite many attempts at phone calls, chats and endless hold times and being stuck in a loop of Microsoft staff, transfers, inabilities to connect or speak to a live human who could assist, my attempts were unsuccessful.Upon a ****** search, I am not alone. Microsoft's intentional actions of all items mentioned above keep many in the same cycle of aggravation and frustration, and I'm sure there are many who just don't try or give up trying to cancel these services.Although $4 monthly is not a lot of money, it is absurd that there is no way to cancel when you are not using them. Shame on this conglomerate corporation!

Microsoft has been the computer programming software for most of the personal computers systems that we have had in my family. It's ubiquitous throughout the technology world there's works and word and word perfect we use for papers and and to communicate since *** IM. I know C plus plus and some html it's just cut and paste now. It's a structural arguments to perform or run tasks in a specific order and then the ability to run many programs and prioritize those.

My complaint is about a defective product. Microsoft Windows has a program called bitlocker that is supposed to protect data on the hard drive. Instead, the program locks you out of your computer if you dont know the bitlocker key.I have a computer only a month old. I did not knowingly activate bitlocker. I know it was though because I made a mistake and put a software program on the computer that was incompatible and lost access to my computer. Now its going to cost a small fortune to send my computer back to ****** to have bitlocker removed. In the earlier versions of windows, I could simply reset my computer when there was a problem. Not anymore. The so-called smart engineers of bitlocker have cost me hours of trying to find the bitlocker key which I did not find. Microsoft is supposed to be better than this.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 05/09/2024

I finally found the bitlocker key and formatted my drive.  Microsoft could have saved me a lot of trouble if they had not put this unwanted software on my computer.  Home users like me do not need help from Microsoft to keep my files safe.

Consider my complaint resolved, though I am very upset with Microsoft.

I purchased a Microsoft brand computer mouse Within one year of todays date from amazon.ca. 17 days Ago, the scroll on the mouse ceased to function effectively. I went immediately online to file a warranty claim for my mouse that no longer function as intended.Microsoft has not made it nearly impossible To file a warranty claim, but they force you to log in to a Microsoft account to file any warranty claim. This is unacceptable and A huge roadblock to filing a claim.Once I was able to file a claim a representative promptly followed up with hours assisting me. After that initial conversation, I was told that the device was defective and needed Warranty replacement.Communication stopped from Microsoft for 14 days. There is no other method to get in touch with Microsoft. It impossible to understand the status of my claim or get in touch with someone to move it forward. Now that two weeks have passed with my inability to function with a broken mouse in my job, I finally received follow up. The warranty replacement has started to be processed, and I kindly requested that the replacement be overnighted due to the gross delay on Microsoft end and resolving this very simple matter and inability to follow up effectively for 14 days (I opened a separate case, and was replied to quicker to the representative, simply closed the case, did not answer my questions, and did not offer any help to give me resolution). Even apologizing or offering an alternative the representative processed the warranty replacement with 7 to 10 day shipping once processed which has yet to happen.I spent hours being sent on wild goose chases by Microsoft employees who have no care to help leaving me in a position where I am held hostage by the mouse I am using and inability to assist and my ability to do work. Not only am I looking for overnight shipping and a prompt replacement of the defective device, but I am looking for compensation for this gross delay inhibiting my work.

However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic.
