Transaction was 1/31/2024 Paid ***** for year-long subscription in 2023. It renewed in 2024. Did not realize still had the subscription. Have not used it for a number of months and will not use it for the remainder of the subscription. They do not offer refunds after 30 days except for in specific countries that must have laws requiring them to give pro-rated refunds, and apparently the US is not on that list. These countries clearly think this is a manipulative or unfair practice and Microsoft agrees to play by those rules in those countries. If they will not be providing me useful services moving forward I should get a pro-rated refund for the rest of my subscription.I called Microsoft and they said they cannot do this on their end, which is clearly just a sales/delay tactic since they do it for numerous other countries. If they cared about customer experience and fairness then they would pro-rate a refund like a fair business would since the product will not be used. Hello, I have contacted Microsoft multiple times to unlock my account and have been greeted with the same automated message every time. I purchased an Xbox X for my husband 11/11/23 from Best Buy. It is within manufacture warranty. The device stopped updating a few weeks ago and we were able to complete a service ticket through Microsofts website to send the device to the company 4/20/24. Microsoft received the product 4/24/24 and they repaired it, sending it back to us 5/3/24. However, the device is now malfunctioning again (started today, 5/13/24). The machine will not update and we have followed all the troubleshooting steps provided in Microsofts website to no avail. We have tried to submit another service ticket, but the website no longer allows us to select the broken device. We have also requested a phone call, but they will not call us to rectify the situation.

I accepted the companys resolution as they assigned a case number to a member of senior management. However, the phone number provided doesnt allow me to talk to anyone and just hangs up. Please can I reopen this request? Microsoft is not following through with what they said they would do and I just want my money back at this point.

I am rejecting this response because: I have not received an email regarding the ticket number provided. I have tried to call the company to no avail. This Xbox has already been registered by my husband, as it was a gift to him. I cannot do anything with the Xbox now, as it is still stuck in an update loop. Additionally, this Xbox has already been serviced by Microsoft and is currently having the same exact issue (after one week), plus it now struggles to connect to a controller so it is worse than it was the first time Microsoft fixed it. I would like Microsoft to accept the device back and return my money OR replace it with a new device.

      Complaint: 21706864

I am rejecting this response because: while Microsoft had a senior member of customer relations reach out, and I have provided additional information to this person via email, I was told I would be contacted this past Friday, 6/14, with the results of their investigation and the next steps leading toward resolution. I am still waiting for the results of the investigation, which I am sure will result the same as I have described because I have been honest in explaining my experience, and I am still awaiting Microsofts idea on resolution. Microsoft has not offered to give me my money back for the defective device or replace the defective device. Given my experience with the company this far, I am not willing to accept another service for it. Because I fear of going around in this circle again, and again, and again.  The device has been out of commission for over a month at this point with no resolution from Microsoft. Its clear customer service is not important to this company, only profits.

Once more- this device was purchased NOVEMBER 2023 as a Christmas gift! And quite honestly it blows my mind that a company as big as Microsoft (or any company!) is allowed to sell products without any sort of liability on faulty products.

      Sincerely,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Yesterday, I finally was able to send the Xbox to Microsoft to be fixed again. The manager Microsoft placed our case with finally sent the shipping label two days ago.

I am still very discouraged with the way that Microsoft handled their defective product. The case manager has not offered any sort of assurances that the company will honor the service of this device if it fails again after being fixed. It has now been out of commission for more that two months, 1/6 or the manufacturer warranty year.

      Sincerely,

      *************************

      Customer Answer

I am writing about the complaint in the subject line. The device was mailed to ********************** 6/27/24 and they have had it since. I have not received a return timeline from the company. Additionally, I am not getting responses to my emails asking for an update on the device.

I have asked how long it typically takes to fix the under 600$ Xbox, no reply. I asked what kind of assurances will be made to ensure the device will work once received (as we have now lost 1/4 or our warranty year (4/24/24 - today) due to it being broken/not in our possession) - also no reply. I have asked pointedly how long it should take to finish up - the manager said he would check with the repair team and get back to me - he never got back to me. *** sent a number of emails between 6/27 and today and none of them have been answered. The communication is almost nonexistent.

It feels as though the company has stolen the device.

Can you let me know if the claim can be re-opened? Or do you have any suggestions on how I should move forward?

      Thank you,
      Brittany

      Customer Answer

My experience working with Microsoft on resolution of their faulty device has been extremely frustrating and enduring. I never would have expected this type of customer service from such a large company and a small purchase (considering other products sold by this manufacturer). For a company as large as Microsoft, Im surprised there isnt an overseeing body ensuring support of consumer purchases. Its a large electronic manufacturing company without being forced to back their products and it just seems there should be more to protect the consumer from this type of situation. I think its ridiculous to mandate the consumer purchase a warranty when purchasing a Microsoft product, but this experience has made me feel its necessary to avoid working with the manufacturer directly (which is a must).

Especially considering how easy other companys make servicing products, such as Apple - I can make an appointment to work with a certified technician directly and in person. Microsoft customer support is insanely lacking. I cant even schedule an appointment to talk with a technician over the phone as they have an automated system that judges whether YOU need help or not. The system kept telling me that Microsoft couldnt help us, although within warranty and clearly a faulty product.

Thank you again for your help through this process. I look forward to next week and hopefully putting this experience in the past. I will inform you once the replacement is received.

      Brittany

On April 3rd I inquired a number of $15 fraudulent charges through my online microsoft 365/office account totally $135. I had spoken w/ a representative 1 week ago and was told that the charges had not hit our account yet (although they had come out of our bank account) and that they would refund into our account within 2 days. I am contacting them again today and am now being sent to the xbox department telling me that the charges came through there, which I do not believe they did. I have been through this before w/ companies were I am promised refunds and it doesn't happen. We have already cancelled our debit card and would like $135 credit for the fraudulent charges we didn't make.

On Wed 5/8, I tried logging into my Microsoft 365 account from the web and it required me to get the Microsoft Authenticator app. I didn't want it but I had no choice. Then it required a PIN. I never had one, never set one, never required one for sign in. I couldn't get into my account.Thurs 5/9 I called Microsoft "Support". I was on the phone 2 hours with them. 1.5 of those hours I spent on hold or being transferred around, only, ultimately to be given a "repair ticket" and be told someone would get back to me "within 24 business hours". Really? For something I would think should be an easy fix for them? Fri 5/10 5:48 p.m. I got a call from Microsoft about my Office acct. The first brilliant solution was to have my virtual assistant who is another global administrator delete multi-factor authentication. I told them we tried that and it didn't work. Then they asked if I had her credentials and could I try logging in as her. I did and it sent a text to her phone and she wasn't there to provide the code. Microsoft then said it would send me a verification email. I never got it. So after one hour I still wasn't in my account. Sat May 11 10:30 p.m, got a call and was told I need to upload a DNS TXT onto my website to prove I own my website or they couldn't help me. I asked how I do that ( I'm not a techie/IT person). They told me look it up on ****** or contact the service provider for my website and that they couldn't help me until I do that and they hung up on me because I had the nerve to be angry at Microsoft. This is now 3 hours and 45 minutes on the phone with them and no solution - -and I never wanted the Authenticator App and I never used a PIN. I emailed CEO *************************, and *******************************, separately, both of whom I know opened my email, and, not surprisingly, neither of them have even acknowledged it. This has become laughable. It's not "support".

      Complaint: 21703221

I am rejecting this response because: After a cumulative total of 5 hours of phone calls (most of which consisted of either waiting on hold or being transferred around or being told over again to try the same "solutions" only for them not to work, finally I was connected with someone from Commercial Escalations who did get me back into my account (requiring my remote virtual assistant to be on the call as well). They got me back into my account, however I was given a link to disable Multi-Factor Authentication to avoid this problem going forward. Today I clicked that link, and got the same message about needing to get the Microsoft Authenticator App. So I'm back in the same loop. I have attached the screenshot for that message.

Based on the foregoing, I am constrained to reject the response.

      Sincerely,

On May 5th an unauthorized change was made to my account and I cant undo it.My password or PIN was deleted and in order to create a new PIN I must access my outlook account that I forgot the password to and when I try to recover the account Im asked to supply the initial email associated with it to get a code. I get the code and put it in and instead of getting access to my account I get a form to fill out and filling it out too many times blocks me from trying again and repeats. Microsoft is misleading its customers by misrepresenting this so called security code that should get you back to your account but instead leads you to a questionnaire. Im losing money and customers and I have valuable information that I cant access because Microsoft hacked my account. As proofs I submit recent screen shots regarding this account and previous screenshots from 2021 showing what should be happening that is not happening showing this is not the first time I forgot my password and the proper use of security code to reset my password.

What is the point of the security code if it does not allow me to access my account? Please fix this error. The point of security code is so that I can recover my password that Microsoft did not have authorization from me to change.
