  • Customer Complaint:

    The BBB has received numerous complaints from consumers that allege paying a large fee to this firm for EIN numbers and the company claiming to be with the IRS.  Online searches for this company website show that the website is based in Iceland and not in the United States.  BBB strongly encourages consumers to visit the irs.gov website directly for any assistance in obtaining a EIN number.  Consumers report their bank accounts being charged hundreds of dollars repeatedly for fees and providing SSN, passport information and other forms of ID that have then been compromised.  To date, we have not received any responses to the complaints on file.

    I applied for a Federal EIN on December 20, 2023. I was led to believe I used the official website and was charged $299. I have now come to find out that the website is based in *******, and although I got the **** I should not be charged for this. Additionally, I believe my social security number is now compromised.

    I applied for an LLC via the **** After my LLC was confirmed, I received an email from Tax-EIN-Number.com indicating I needed to pay $199.00 to obtain my EIN from the **** I supplied my credit card number, Social Security Number, and other identifying information, thinking this was legit. Afterwards, I did some research and learned that this is a fraudulent company out of ******* and not affiliated with the **** I have reported this to my credit card company. This company is fake and taking advantage of people, and stealing their information and money!

    This company: "**********************************" is acting like the *** to create an EIN number. There was never an EIN number received after payment of $250.

    Deceptive website. Appears to be a generic USGOv website. Doesn't mention fee until last page. Charges 339 dollars for an EIN. The ** Government doesn't charge a ***** to generate an EIN. This is fraud taking advantage of people unfamiliar with "EINs".

    This site pretends to be an official irs website. It charged $399.00 to to process EIN number request. They now have all my information and that frightens me.This is a free government service but the site popped up first in my ****** search.

    I thought I was going to the *** website to register for an EIN, as it showed up as one of the first links when looking *** EIN. It wasn't until I received email confirmation that I realized this was a separate company and not the ***. They charged $299.00 for what it says is "assistance" with completing an EIN application; however no assistance whatsoever was provided or offered, it was simply a similar application process as the true *** website, which is completely free of charge. As I did not receive assistance, their advertised service, I would like my refund and I would like for their website to make it clear they are not affiliated with the ***. They stated I was not eligible for a refund because the process of the application was completed and the "submit button" was the same as agreeing to their terms of service. They did not make it clear they were not affiliated with the ***, nor did they offer assistance throughout the entire process, which is their advertised service. As such, their deceptive website and services should be modified or removed.Order number: 21659DD8

    Date of transaction: 1/10/24 This website poses as an IRS website and tricks customers into paying $250 for a service that is free on the real IRS website. Absolutely disgusting.

    It is a fraudulent website disguised as an IRS website to get people's private and valuable information as well as charging a $299 fee for a free filing service. I request my information to be deleted.

    On 12/19/23 I attempted to create an EIN number for a new business. Unfortunately, instead of going through the **** which is what I should have done, I found my way to this website. I entered in personal information, including my social security number, and paid $295 for the service. I don't expect the BBB to get this payment refunded and am currently working with my credit company to dispute the charge. However, I am very concerned about this company using my personal information to steal my identity and would like guidance on what I can do moving forward to protect myself. I hope that something can be done to shut down this operation so that others don't fall for this scam in the future.

    I have updates on my BBB complaint. I received a refund from the company. Please see email below. I confirmed the refund was received. I'm glad to have the money back, however I do feel nervous that this company, which seems pretty sketchy, has my social security number.

    A client called my office asking for assistance getting an EIN. I work at a law office, we do this kind of thing. I searched up the *** website, and began questioning the client - with exactly the same information I always do when I am actually on the *** website. The website appears IDENTICAL to the actual site. I noticed the payment section, but I thought that perhaps the *** had changed their policy on business EIN being free. I am mortified that I exposed a client to this website. This site needs to be removed, and the owners of this site need to be held liable for any damages done to its users. I happened to check the policy after, looking to see when it had changed, and realized my horrendous mistake. I immediately contacted my client and he is currently ramping up defenses by locking his credit, alerting the *** and getting with his card company to dispute the charge. I have never been so professionally or personally embarrassed in my life. I did contact their customer service, and they responded that they are processing a refund - who knows if they will.
