The BBB has received numerous complaints from consumers that allege paying a large fee to this firm for EIN numbers and the company claiming to be with the IRS. Online searches for this company website show that the website is based in Iceland and not in the United States. BBB strongly encourages consumers to visit the irs.gov website directly for any assistance in obtaining a EIN number. Consumers report their bank accounts being charged hundreds of dollars repeatedly for fees and providing SSN, passport information and other forms of ID that have then been compromised. To date, we have not received any responses to the complaints on file.

I wanted to get an EIN number and clicked on this link that I thought was the **** I put in my personal information including my home address and social security number. I was charged $329.00 which I paid by credit card. I received a follow up email saying that they couldn't issue me an EIN number because I had already been issued one by the ****which is not true. They said they would void the transaction but it could take 4-6 days to see the refund on my credit card. When I looked at my credit card I saw that the charge to this company was pending-it has been three days as I made this purchase on May 23 and today is May 26. They also sent me an application that had my ss# on it. With a phone number to call if I have questions. I don't want to call and get further into trouble with this fraudulent company. I am extremely concerned about my ss# and personal info being in the hands of this scam. I am not sure what actions I should take. PLEASE ADVISE. I went to IRS-EIN-Tax-ID-Number.com to get an EIN for my new business. I submitted all of my personal information (including SS). Once I submitted, it then asked for $250 from me. Went online to order a Federal Tax ID from the government for a new business on 5/12/23. The page that I clicked into (first page that was listed) is deceptively similar to the *** page for creating an FEIN number. I believed this to be the *** website and that they were now charging to create my ID number. A few hours later, it dawned on me that there shouldn't be a charge to register your business with the government. I relooked at how to create a Tax ID number and it was only at that time, that I realized I had not been dealing with the *** site, but another company that poses a similar website and charges for something that is free. I was charged $277.00 for something that I shouldn't have been charge for at all. I have contacted my bank to dispute the charge and by the time I realized what happened, the IRS-EIN-Tax-ID-Number.com customer support had closed for the day.I feel taken advantage of for a deceptive website and should have known better. This website impersonated the *** website to charge me $329 for filing identifying information for a EIN. I am now worried about my identifiable information, particularly social security number and credit card number being used for identity theft and credit card theft. ON 4/23/23 I paid $250.00 to this company, believing them to be the *** and believing that this was the payment for an EIN number. I received a "confirmation" that my payment was received and the website reported that an email would be sent confirming my EIN number after processing. When I had still not receiving an email as of today, I searched the BBB website and realized that this was a scam. I called my bank to report and request a dispute on the charge. This website is posing as a governmental website. They advertise Apply for Federal Tax ID / EIN. Simple & Secure IRS Application. Takes Just Minutes. They show up first in a ****** search for ein application. However this is not a government website nor a secure IRS application. I realized too late that this is a fraudulent site not run by the **** They now have my SSN and $329. Do not give them your personal information.
