I engaged Hawx beginning of June for general pest control and outdoor services. I was under the impression I paid monthly and received services monthly. Today I was informed the general pest control service would be received quarterly and the outdoor service only 7 times per year. Accordingly I called to cancel (spending 45 min on hold) and was told I would have to pay a $199 cancellation fee on each service. Given the misleading sales tactics used here I respectfully requested these fees to be waived; they refused. I am therefore filing this complaint to get this matter resolved with the fees being waived.Business Response

I have signed up with Hawx pest control sometime last year in which the sales person told me that it would be a $40 monthly service where they will treat around my house and my yard with ants. What he failed to tell me was that they only come out quarterly while still billing me on a monthly basis. After the first couple of services, I am still having pest issues around the house with no signs of treating my lawn and when trying to cancel my service, I can never get ahold of anyone. I am still being charged a monthly fee with no service being done. I am requesting that they refund my past billing and end my service immediately.Business Response

A man name Tyler came out to our community and was asking people if they would like to try them with their pest control services . He also told us theee was no type of contact at all I told him I would give him a try. However he had me believing that this was a 1 time payment for the services that I was going to get that week and had me sign a consent paper for them to do the job at the house . I have notice when my account was messed up that this company has taken 63$ out my ac for the last 3 months. Without my consent. I called and told the people what went in and what was said they told me different I ask for a manager the representative was rude n click me off and put me on hold for another 1 nobody responded to what was going on I never heard anything from this company but they keep going in my account . They need to refund my money and stop knocking. A salesperson came to our home and sold us a twelve-month contract for pest control. Stated that they would come out once a month to do the pest control which included the yard, house Mosquitoes, Fleas, Spiders, ants etc. They come out the first time and then the next month they took my money, but I had to call and tell them they did not come out. They stated that they don't come out every month. I asked for the contract to be stopped as the salesperson stated that we would have to pay ****** to stop the contract. They told me it would be over ******* to stop the contract and this is not what they stated. So, we kept the service, but I stopped the auto payment. They told me that first phone call that they could come out every month approximately the same day without a call. They never did, I had to call them every time. The conversation changed every call, first it was every month, and they would come back between visits if needed and I would just have to call them for the extra visits, then it was they do not come out every month. They never came out without me calling. Most times I had to call the company at least 4 to 5 times a month as they would not answer the phones, such long wait time I had to go back to work, or the computer told me they would contact me back which mostly they never did. When calling for appts a lot of time they would state they were short staffed and they could not come out for a few weeks, sometimes yelling and screaming at them worked and they would come out earlier. My dogs got flea infested, I called them, and they stated that the flea bundle was not in my contract, and they would do it once and I would need to pay for it. They did it and next time I called they stated that the flea treatment was always in my package. To eliminate the fleas, I had to pay for chemicals and do the lawn every two weeks for 6 weeks and the same with the dog treatments. It cost me over ****** to do this when they should have been doing it all along. On This went on for the whole year. I told them that I did not sign the contract and showed proof, but they never talked to /me about it. I sent in cancelation for this service around 03/27/2023 and received an email from them - Since then anyone I talked to I clarified that they received it and they all stated they have it on file that my contract would end on 06/16/2023. I called them in May to pay and after numerous phone calls I finally got in touch with someone late **** I told them I was calling to pay to set up the final service. The person stated that my service was already cancelled, and they would not be coming out. That was it for me and I informed them I was not paying for no service and for a manager to call me. No one called me. In ****, they charged me again. I tried to call and called about 17 times. I left a message for them to call, mostly I did not get a call back and eventually I talked to someone. He stated that I never cancelled in March and so they will charge me on a month-to-month basis. I asked for him to get his supervisor to call me and he stated that it would take 24 to 72 hours for the call. I am still waiting for that call. I also stated that I did not sign the contract and that I sent my signature to them. He stated that the signatures were similar. That was a lie, it was not my signature. I want my last visit and I will pay for **** I will not pay for **** as they had my cancelation in March.Business Response

My husband was outside and a man walked up to him asking him if he wanted pest control service . So he sent him to talk to me (his wife). So i took the service and i signed on his phone and gave him my back card no. They took the money out of my account not my husbands for a year. Did not care for the service still had bugs. When the year ended i tried to call what a joke they never answer tried chat that' a joke to. So i emailed them and they responded saying that i could not cancel because the contract is not in my name at this address. My husband never signed a thing or gave them any info. on paying for anything. So now they took another 91.00 out of my account . This is past my year contract i signed with them. I think this place is a scam . I called and filed a complaint with my back to get my 91.00 back and to stop them from taking more money out of my account.Business Response

My name is ****** **********, I am having issues with the Hawx Pest Control company. My account number with them is ******.
About two months ago a door-to-door salesman with Hawx, Joseph C********* came to my door selling pest control services. He was very polite and respectful. The problem that I am having is that he said since I was a Veteran there was a free treatment and cancellation if I did not want to continue with the services.
I have a very busy and random schedule and still have not been able to get my first treatment scheduled. On July 1st, I sent him a message saying that it was not working out and that I was ok not receiving the initial service, I just want to cancel.
I was charged for the month of July, which was agreed upon, however due to the veteran deal he said it would be refunded.
Today, AUG 3, I received another invoice for $65. I again reached out to Joseph, he told me this was confusing because he cancelled the account, and that he would follow up with his branch manager.
As I have waited for a response from him, which I still have not received I tried chatting with their online agent who told me they do not have the authority to cancel an account and gave me a phone number to call.
I called two separate phone numbers and was on hold for several hours with no answer. I have also sent out an email to two separate company email accounts. At this point, I feel stuck with this service and they are not providing a reasonable way to cancel.
I would like my refund and to not be charged any longer.Business Response

This company lies over the phone , they tell you one thing in which you think youre agreeing to then they have u sign and its something different from what you were told, they then charge your card every month but do not even provide a service !!!! Complete frauds and liars. To start, the door-to-door rep was aggressive and did not tell me about the monthly charge, only saying that there was the one time charge every three months, which is when they would visit. When I was charged the next month, I tried contacting multiple times but received no response or available agent for WEEKS. After finally receiving a callback, I was told that they couldn't help and had to be transferred to another department, and I was sent back to square one to the beginning of an hours-long queue. I sent an email demanding the money back and my account canceled. A full week later I received an email back with no apology and asking if I'd like my account canceled, but said I'd be charged for early termination of contract. This is unacceptable, completely and utterly. I let them know they will NOT be getting another dime out of me, and have received no response again, thus far. ZERO stars if I could, and wondering about legal action.After leaving a review on here they responded, but gave information I could not use to contact them. We do apologize for the confusion. Upon signing the agreement we had given a discount for the initial service. We charge a monthly charge instead of one large quarterly sum. If we charged quarterly the service charge would be $177. We are asking you to pay the remaining $59. to cover the cost of the one service that was provided for the total cost of $167.99. And we have waived the early termination fee of $199.

I am rejecting this response because:While I thank you for closing the account and waiving the fee, I was still not told by the salesperson how this worked and would never have accepted the service if I knew it was more than the ***** he had initially said it cost. He had not alluded that there was more to that payment, or that there was anything beyond the ***** for the quarterly service, at all. I will not be paying the amount, and would still like the other payment of ***** back that was automatically deducted from my account last month. Thank you.

I have had Hawx since last year, after the yearly contract was up I have requested to cancel multiple times. I was on hold for over two hours last time, left my call back number and never got a call back. I received my last service and have paid it, I was put on hold to connect with an account specialist and have now been on hold AGAIN for over an hour thirty minutes. The excuse is they are always busy. It is unacceptable that they will not service their customers in a timely fashion nor will they return calls. I have expressed multiple times, documented that I do NOT want their services but they will not follow through with my requests. I am just put on a merry go round of on hold calls and transfered around.Business Response
