This company came to our door and we retained their services for pest control. We were told we could cancel at any time. I called them in October to cancel our service and was stuck in their que for 45 minutes. It had the option to get a return phone call. They never called so I called the local number back and was told it was in the system to be cancelled. I called again on November 8 and was on hold 35 minutes and was told that there would be a cancellation fee. We were told there was no cancellation fee and could cancel at any time when we signed up.Business Response

On or about November 3, 2023 I contacted "PY Hawx Services Houston" with a complaint regarding my service and to advise that I would be moving from my current residence and therefore chose to cancel the service.
During that conversation, the representative indicated that I would need to provide proof that I moved. When I provided the zip code I was told that I could not cancel unless I paid a $199 cancelation fee. I told the representative that I had a text message from the representative I spoke with when I signed up for the services and that the text message indicated that I could transfer or cancel the service if I moved without any issues or fee. "whatever I would like to do".
I still have the text message and charging the $199 cancellation fee is usurious and against the terms of the contract to provide services. I did not ask them to reimburse the payment changed at the end of October.
During the conversation I was told that a technician was scheduled to come out on 11/9/23; however, I was not contacted about the proposed visit. I also explained that it was difficult in the past to schedule follow up visits for persistent issues that were not resolved since their services were obtained.
I contacted the company in response to an email advising that my credit card would be charged, but to day no one has responded to my request or complaint. I would like to know why their employee obtained my approval for the services based on the assurance that their was no cancellation fee. Upon receipt of new driver's license a copy will be provided to prove relocation.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because the business is refusing to acknowledge the change to the service based on my reliance on the written communication provided by the business' representative. No subsequent contract was created after the initial change.I will provide the new address; however the argument that the service address is within the service area is invalid since the initial contract was signed based on an agreement that the contract could be moved or canceled based on my request.
The account was closed because the agent rudely closed it because I would not acquiesce to payment of a fee that I did not agree to.
It is terrible that such depths are undertake to squeeze people out of $199. More effort to provide good service is preferable.

Back on 7/27/23 a Hawx Pest Specialist knocked on my door soliciting pest control service which I initially refused because I don’t like killing bugs. He however connived me into a one time treatment that I thought was being added to the soil surrounding my house which I finally accepted. So I filled out my personal information on his tablet and signed believing the service was just for this one time only. Turns out they sprayed the area instead and I signed a 12 month contract without my knowledge. They refuse to cancel my service without charging me 198.00 for breaking a contract that I didn’t even realize I was signing up for. Very deceitful practice for a business. Please do whatever you can to break this ridiculous contract without them charging me this fee. I also found out that I still owe them 49.00 for the 7/27/23 initial visit which I intend to pay but do not want them back at my home ever again. I am rejecting this response because:
I was tricked into signing a contract by a solicitor coming to my home and assuring me this was a one time pest control service. I in good faith filled out the information on his tablet believing it was just this one time only when I was actually signing a year contract. How many times do I have to explain this to this company. The contract should not be binding when someone fraudulently connived me into a contract. I am seeking a lawyer as I’d rather pay them 199.00 instead of this scammer company!!!

They are billing me for a service that was never received.
The last service they provided was paid for. they have sent me an invoice without performing the service. I told them I would pay if they came and performed the service. they said they would not come if I didn't pay. so I told them they were fired. they continually keep sending the invoice, and are now calling and saying they will send to collections. On 17 Jun 2023 a door to door salesmen for Hawx pest control miss represented a one time service but in fact signed me a service contract that I did not agree too. The signed document Hawx provided was not what was shown to me the day of the interaction. Several attempts were made to terminate the service after the first monthly automatic with a draw from my account with my consent. I contacted my financial institution on 1 August 2023 and requested a stop of auto charges and contacted Hawx customer service on the same day requesting to terminate the service that I didn’t not agree to. The company didn’t not provide another service other the. The initial contact date and are now requesting payment for a service I did not agree to nor did I want.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: If you look at the “agreement” you will see that it is in fact not signed in each block there Is only a signature at the bottom of the page. The representative did NOT explain it was a service contract but made it out to be a one time service. If I would have been advised it was annual contract I would have been give the opportunity to sign each block but I was not. In fact I wasn’t even given the opportunity to review the entire document. It was a high pressure shady sales tactic. On top of that NO follow on service was ever provided. Your comply was paid for the one service that was conducted and I don’t fell a should pay for a service that was never accomplished. There are numerous case and reports of fraud filled against this company and I refuse to be bullied into paying for something that was a scam and a fraud from the beginning

I am rejecting this response because: That is not a true statement. The welcome letter was not completely gone over. Only a portion was reviewed. I would have never agreed to such a thing or authorized an auto payment which was also submitted without my knowledge. Your company is attempting to extort money from me for services that was not provided on top of already making an unauthorized auto withdrawal that I did not approve. Be satisfied with the money you already charged me for services that were not provided and stop harassing me for a payment. I will be contacting the BBB directly to resolve this issue.

I had a years contract starting June 6 2023. I did receive my first service that same day.However I had no quarterly service. By October I was to have a full service again. They texted me that they would come, waited for them, but about 5 pm I again received text informing me that they had serviced my home. I was home all day so I know they have not been here. Called the next day and I was told that it was done. Since I persisted they wanted to reschedule and at this time I wanted nothing to do with this company.I paid initial fee of $149.00 on June 6. Since then they withdrew $75.00 monthly from July through October for a total of $449.00. I feel they are equally obligated to serve as a I am obligated to pay for their service.Business Response

I had a one year agreement with Hawx. My contract was fulfilled in May 2023. I had complained about services throughout my contract as I was dissatisfied with the company after switching to them. In June 2023, I had my fill with the company when the serviceman told me that I had to pay extra for treatment for spiders outside the home. I had been super busy with work, was in the midst of divorce and my best friend had just passed away, so it was July before I called to cancel. In July 2023, I called and canceled my services - when I contacted them, there was no balance due and they stated that on the call. The next day or maybe even later that day (I don’t recall exactly) I was charged another monthly fee. I didn’t think much of it until I started getting harassed for not paying. When I initially was contacted, I explained the issue and was treated rudely by the representative which immediately made me more contentious as this company has been a pain in the butt since I started services. I asked her to waive that fee and stated I wouldn’t pay it but she would not. Would not let me speak to a supervisor. Was contacted other times - called incessantly and finally I blocked the number. Now I’m getting letters. I am not paying this bill as it was charged after I canceled. They will not work with me at all.Business Response

this company is such a f****** scam. They come to your house with door to door sales, promising they will do maintenance in btwn the scheduled times and saying you can call for service in between the quartely sessions.. At the first visit they go above and beyond but I called a month later to say I had ants crawling up the side of my home to have someone come assess it & the various numbers they have are all routed to the same sales department that lies & says let me connect you to that department & then it routes you back to the generic message that says they are experiencing high call volumes no matter what day or time you call. After 3 weeks for trying this every day, I sent an email to cancel & then got my bank involved to report the fraudlent service. I got one months of my money back because they never answered the *********** they are sending me fees monthly. How do is get them to stop fake billing me??Business Response

I signed up for their quarterly pest control services in May after a door to door sales rep offered services. He definitely mentioned the one year agreement but I don't remember if he clearly explained the $199 cancellation charge. The company provided service in May but did not provide their second quarterly service nor did they contact me to schedule service through the end of August.
The contract it states that the cancellation fee applies if the customer cancels the contract unless Hawx violates the terms of the contract which is what they did by not providing their second quarterly service.
I first called in September and they agreed to give me a month credit and schedule service the next week. That service appointment was cancelled last minute and they couldn't offer another appointment for over two weeks.
I then spent over an hour on the phone explaining my case yet they would not waive the cancellation fee despite being in the wrong or even allow me to talk to a manager or supervisor even though on this site there are cases where the cancellation fee was refunded or waived.
I filled a dispute through my credit card which they have fought and charged me an additional $25 charge back fee.Business Response
