In May 2023 a Hawx Pest solicitor came to my house to sell me their services.
He showed me a list of what would be included and advised me it would be $79 per service.
They came to service my home, but did not complete spraying the yard for mosquitoes due to the fact it was raining. The tech said someone else would come back. Not only did no one else come back, but we were charged another $79 the following month in June.
I called Hawx to find out why I was charged and it was at this time I found out the cost for service was actually $79 per month for quarterly service.
This is not what was explained at that signing of the contract, which was done completely on his tablet with no paperwork provided, so, I wanted to cancel.
Hawx attempted to transfer my call for cancelation, but no one took my call. This happened twice. So, since they refused to resolve the issue I called my CC company and reported fraud and received a refund.
Now in Nov. '23 I
receive an invoice from Hawx attempting to collect on services never provided. When I called and explained what happened they informed me it would cost $199 to cancel because they could not believe whether I was telling the truth about the salesperson, and they threatened to hurt my credit if I did not pay. I called back to speak to a different account mgr to see if this was an isolated incident or company policy. The 2nd mgr told me he had no way to know if I was telling the truth and required the same $199 cancelation fee, so it seems fraud is the company's practice.
I told the 2nd mgr I read several reviews, after writing my own, and many of them told of the same exact fraudulent sales pitch with no paperwork. They too called and complained like me about the salesperson, so Hawx KNOWS their salespeople are lying, but still allows it and continues to hold the customer accountable for a contract that was created on fraudulent terms.
Legally, the contract should be null an void due to fraud and all charges forgiven.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Hawx pest did not spell my name correctly and my email has my name it. They only corrected it when I called to complain about the attempt to collect fraudulent charges. Hawx can review my phone call and see that their account mgr. had to make the correction. I am also attaching rhe invoice that clearly shows Hawx error in the spelling of my name.
So, therefore, I never received a copy of the contract for review.
At the signing of the contract the salesperson lied to me about the terms and only showed me on his tablet what he wanted me to see.
When I was informed of the terms of the contract when I called to complain about the charges, I immediately informed your staff that is not what I signed up for and wanted to cancel and you know the rest of the story.
So, once again, since Hawx pest salesperson entered this contact on fraudulent terms, the contract is null and void, and has no right to seek any payment nor a cancelation fee. Actually, Hawx should be charged criminally with contract fraud.

Hawx Pest Control came to our door this past summer selling basic pest control service. We told them we already use Mosquito *** and are happy with them. They asked us to give them a try. It would be a one time service and fee and if we liked it we could sign up to continue.So we paid them for that service and signed to approve it. They came out and did the treatment as agreed. We didnt find any difference from what we were already receiving and chose not to hire them to replace ****************Upon reviewing our credit card statement and receiving charge emails from them, we have found they are now charging us approx $75 per month. Since we didnt sign up for this we messaged them to be sure to cancel whatever they are doing and reimburse the amounts they have been charging pasted the initial agreed upon amount.This was declined by them saying we signed a 12 month agreement and would have to pay an additional $200 for it to stop. Apparently when I signed for the one treatment it was a trick and it was actually 12 months.I have since reviewed them and see that they have pulled this on many others.I want these fees stopped immediately.I should not be charged $200 to stop them.Im addition, I should be reimbursed the $75/mo for Sept., Oct., and Nov.Business Response

************* at my told very plainly stat s that this was a mine month trial. There was never mention of a 12 month contract as I would never have agreed to such terms. It was understood that this was a trial that I could choose to continue. Because I didnt my want to continue I did not respond to any further communications as I did not want to sign up. I was acting on the information I was provided.It is in no way acceptable that you would charge me a cancellation fee as this was a deceptive practice (as is confirmed by many others who have filed the exact same complaint against you).

I am rejecting this response because:It is unacceptable in every way to come to someones door - offer a reduced trial fee - trick them into signing that one agreement then later declaring that its actually a 12 month contact then to have the nerve to charge $200 to make it all stop. This has been an Absolutley nightmare. You are all a bait and switch company. It will be notified to our HOA to run if they see a rep from Hawx coming because you will be lying to them.
I am requesting that you immediately remove/reimburse the $200 cancelation fee that just appeared on my credit card.

I am rejecting this response because:I called the same day the 13th to cancel service for th 2nd time the same day the charge was made on my credit card for doing absolutely nothing for the charge. Absolutely unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only reason the service was reinstated in the first place was because they charged me 3 months in a row and did nothing then when I cancelled the service with nobody coming out for 3 Months.
They told me I had to reinstate the service to get them to come back out and do the service which should have been done in the first place.
I am now convinced this is a SCAM to get another charge for doing nothing.
I would never use this service ever again.
I would never recommend this service to anyone. ************* sucks!!!!!

I am rejecting this response because:Hawk Pest Control came out on Friday The 10th. Did the exterior but not the interior. I was trying to cordinate with them a time to come back out which would have been the following week which was past November 13th.
Then I get charged again for doing nothing.
Then I call to get a refund for the new charge. Then they don't want to do a refund for work they never performed on the new charge.

On 08/06/2023, I received an email notification from Hawx Pest Control about a price increase to my account. I contacted them on 08/11/2023 requesting to cancel my account due to the price increase notification and was told that I could not cancel because my account was already auto charged for the month of August. I was told my account is automatically billed on the 10th of every month. I was told in order to cancel my account, I would have to pay the charge first before I can cancel that account. This made no sense to me to make a payment for services that I will not be getting just to get the account closed.
I went back and reviewed my contract and it stated that upon being notified, I can send cancellation request within 15 days of I myself being notified of any price increase. I mailed a letter and received cancellation confirmation email on 08/16/2023 that I will no longer be receiving service from them. I thought nothing of it at the time after that until I kept getting emails informing payment due with additional fees being added on. I contacted company on 11/03/2023 to get this account resolved and closed out with no luck as I was still being told that payment is required with no service. The person I spoke to even told me that the best they can do for me is give me a reduce price of $86 and some change in order to close the account. I could not even afford to pay for the reduce amount offered and told them I would have to call back at another time to figure out how to get this resolved. A week later (11/08/2023), I noticed that now I’m being charged late fees for an account I had requested to be closed 3 months ago.
I tried to end this cordially with option if I ever needed to go back once my situation got better, but now I am seeing this company is not doing anything to really help. Any assistance that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.Business Response

I signed up for Hawx Pest control, I was told they would spray my front yard, back yard and take care of any problems I have with pests. The first month they showed up they did a great job. The second time they showed up a team member did not go into the back yard; I had a bee's nest i ask them to remove and they didn't. When i called back to the business they left me on hold for at least an hour, once I finally was able to talk to someone, they said they would resend a team member out again to re-do the job. When the new team member came out, he also did not go into the back yard and did a horrible job with spraying the property, after that time i called to speak to someone to cancel and they are refusing to cancel their servicers. they are doing horrible quality work and never pick up the phone and when they do i am on the phone at least a hour just to be able to speak to someone. all i want is their services to be cancelled and a refund from the last 3 months. thank you for your timeBusiness Response

For my first 2 appointments with this company nobody ever showed up. Both time I had to spend 20+ minutes calling to reschedule, and then schedule another day at home since I needed to be here for the service.
The 2nd time I just tried canceling because I couldn't keep doing this. When I tried cancelling for their lack of service, instead of refunding me the $165 I already paid for this appointment, they wanted to charge an additional $199 to cancel. So I had them come do one final service so I could at least get that service that I paid for completed.
I debated giving them one more chance, but after about a week I decided it's best to still cancel. By this point I had a $55 balance in my account. Again, instead of refunding this $55, they charged me $199 to cancel. I still went ahead with it because I wanted to be done with this company. They fail to provide service because they have you locked in with a contract and know there's nothing you can do about it. They also have no right to retain a balance that I had in the account.
In total I paid $529 for 2 pest services. It was a horrible experience.Business Response

I purchased a service agreement with Hawx in June of this year. They did the initial service in June and a warranty service in July. Since then I have not received any service, however they kept taking my payments. Per the contract I should have my house serviced quarterly, my next service should have been September. Per the contract if Hawx fails to provide service I can terminate without paying a fee. I requested termination with the company. The lady I spoke with would not terminate the contract unless I paid the fee. She also refused my request to speak with her manager.Business Response

I was not told the spray was harmful to toads. I live on a farm and liked to have toads as they eat bugs. Then when they told me that I said I wanted to cancel their services. They provided me with 1 treatment for bees only. I paid the $50. Then they took $50 more out of my credit card with no service. Now I paid them $199 to get out of their contract. This company has scammed many from reviews. Knocking on does with no soliciting signs. Pressured to sign up for pest control with all types of guarantees. Service never was provided. Company pulled $65.00 from account monthly. Card was removed from the account to stop fees. Representative showed up to for to collect payment. False advertisement, not providing a service at all, now charging a $200 cancellation fee for services promised but never given. Originally hired this company for pest control. I agreed with he pest control sales rep that I did not want reoccurring services and I only wanted them to provide the service for 3 months. On the second month they sent me a bill claiming they had completed the service again however, I have cameras at my house and no one actually came. I then called the sales rep and told him to cancel the services. Fast forward over a year later, and I see that they just charged me over $900 to my account. The statement shows that they continued to bill my account after I had told their sales rep to cancel. Then they charged be $400 in cancelation charges on top of everything else almost 6 months after I had originally told them to cancel. Since your services were cancelled before the agreement was completed you were charged for the early termination fee for both service's.
