I canceled my account February ******* and I was charged up u til June with no record of my cancelation being sent to me. I called to cancel 4 times, each time being told it was being taken care of, only to get no confirmation and more charges. I was told i was being refunded the money they charged me and I never was. They didn't even have record of my payoff of my loan for equipment even thought they said it was done on a recorded line in a 3 way call with the loan company. I was "escalated" to a supervisor a couple times with no results. I feel like they are fraudulently trying to charge me and keep my account open to keep collecting money hoping I don't check in. They say everything is logged, but then they have no record of certain actions and nothing is being done. Im sure I'm not the only one this has happened to. It seems they give a run around on cancelation so they can keep charging you and collecting. I just got off the phone with them saying it was resolved and again they sent no confirmation and I'm still out the money they have charged me monthly. It's unprofessional and they continue to call from their office trying to get me to buy products and services. They also said they monitored our alarm system when for months our system was down and no one reached out to us. It feels like a scam.Business Response

Vivint had a tech install current security equipment that is already on a plan to a new house and sold my wife a new plan instead of transferring the plan to a new address. I have not been receiving service for a year, it has been at her house instead. They also told me that I cannot cancel because the equipment wasn't paid off. She should have never been sold a new plan when she already had one existing.Business Response

Called on Dec 13th 2023 to cancel services, after having the subscription for almost 5 years. Upon calling and speaking with some representatives overseas I was obligated to pay for the equipment and some fee for breaking contract which was mentioned that was until March of 2024. First I would like to know where in the contract states that the policy is renewed yearly ? Also, I would like to have my money refunded, the monthly since December 2023 until now June 2024 that I am still being charged. Dec 13 I was charged $78.21, Dec 14th $78.89,Jan 16th $33.79,Feb 15 $56,March 15 $56 and April $56. Account number ********Business Response

In December 2023, I submitted a formal written request to terminate services with Vivint. I paid my account in full along with paying for the equipment. On May 28, 2024 I learned that my account was not closed and that I was still being billed with impact to my credit for unpaid services. I was told on May 28, 2024 that my account was being escalated for cancellation and that the cancellation would be completed within 2-3 business days. On June 5, 2024, I learned that my account was not closed and was again informed that because of the balance it was impacting my credit score. I was told told on June 5, 2024 that it would take until June 14th to close my account. To which I responded that was simply unacceptable as it has been 6 months since I terminated my account. It is an unfair and deceptive trade practice to continue to bill a customer when it is formally requested to terminate service and service and equipment are paid in full. I was sold some security equipment by Vivint . Was not explained that a credit account would be opened through a third party to finance the equipment , was only told that I was paying monthly for the service. No I have a large credit account opened in my name without my knowledge. I was only told a soft credit check would be ran for preapproval. I was also told that there was a 3 day trial period and am now being given the run around to cancel the equipment .Business Response

a salesmancome to our door on 5/16. He attempted to sell us cameras, door locks, etc for $3500 + the cost of ******************** fees. We said we dont need/want that &would never pay that for cameras. We were happy with our cameras that we had & were paying $5 a month for ring! He then crossed out ALL of those charges on his sales worksheet, saying he can take care of ALL those charges & all we pay is a monthly monitoring of $116/month. since all the equipment would be supposedly free, we agreed to that. He then asked for info for a credit check &I asked why and he said citizens bank fronts the equipment so its just to make sure I have good credit in case I decide to leave the premises and take the cameras with us. he also told us we can cancel it anytime , which we tried to do five days later when I discovered I have a $4368 bill under my Citizens account. When I called the company to cancel, a rep explained the charges of the equipment and the insulation fee and the monthly service plan. We never even heard the word plan come out of the salesmans mouth. He never explained we would be paying for equipment and I never would have said OK to $4300 worth of anything when I was happy with my ring cameras. I tried to cancel it and they wont let me stating that I am past the three day cancellation time. However, he didnt even finish the install until five days after the 16th. (Which is the same day I called to cancel my services). The (sales rep) who said he would be able to help us with anything has since stopped replying. We just want to cancel the service and get all of this equipment out of our house. He also opened a credit line of $6000 under my name and I NEVER okd that. I have tried calling the company at least 5 times, talking to supervisors who AGREE that his way of selling the product was NOT the right ******** is not how they want their company represented, but still will not let me out of the contract!!! Please help me I cannot afford this.Business Response

On May 15th, *** from Vivint came and up sold us a security system. He stated that Vivint is so confident that you will love their services that they guarantee it for 30 days. They would much rather you return it than have you be unhappy and write a negative review. So today, June 4th we contacted Vivint and they said sorry you have three days and it is past that time. After reading other complaints about the same thing I am confident they are using deceptive sales tactics.Business Response

We do not have any documentation. We did not think to record the salesman in our home but its sad that is what they would expect. there are so many BBB complaints, ******* Reddit complaints stating the same thing as we. Obviously deceptive sales practices are standard. Very disappointed in lack of Vivints ethics in making sure the people that they hire are not so shady and deceptive. Vivint was recommended to me in 2019 when I started my short-term rental business. Things seemed to go okay until August of 2020 when I had to remove my system from the property I was leasing, as they installed a new system of their own called Dwelo. I made Vivint aware of this as soon as it happened, and of course, started the process to cancel. Things didn't go as expected as I was given a unique "buyout" option where I just had to pay the equipment off. Interesting thing, when I first signed up with Vivint, I was part of a group where we all were part of the Loyalty Program, and so I had a discount on the sign-up fee and equipment. Rep 1, said my equipment was paid. Rep 2, said I had about $300 left. Rep ************ still being charged a monitoring fee for 5 months and NOTHING being monitored, said my account would be canceled and the amount I was paying on monitoring would take care of the equipment. At this point, it is February of 2022. By November 2022, I get a call from a debt collector stating I have a debt with Vivint. Of course, I called Vivint to clarify, and they confirmed no you are good your accounts are closed. Fast forward to yesterday June 3, 2024, when I got a call from a debt collector ***************************** that said I have a balance of over $1000. Here is the catch to an address I never owned, and not my account number. The interesting thing is that although Vivint failed to handle this particular account correctly, I still had 2 other accounts that were successfully closed with them. I would advise you to look at other carriers for your security service. In addition, you can't make any major changes unless you are at the panel and the Admin. Same property, Vivint also damaged my wall by drilling holes when they weren't supposed to because the panel was adhesive. I discovered this when I was forced to remove the system. Every time I ask Vivint to resolve something, they make promises they can't keep.Business Response

BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation.
