Purchased Vivint security system, and it doesn’t work the way it should cameras and panels are always offline had tried to contact customer service for replacements and they said they don’t give out replacements, I wouldn’t have never spent this much on a security system that is down over half the time worst thing is they don’t notify you that the system is down. This system is horrible, and doesn’t work as promised.

I am rejecting this response because:Vivint’s records show that Mr. **'s internet speeds are inverted, and his system was installed in 2022.
This is correct I have had this system since May of 2022 and it has been constantly down and horrible after the first few months of excitement of having a new system. I even purchased a "Vivint Smart Modem" to have the cameras back up video and to be able to stream the video instead of the "motion activated" that unit has been down several times as well. My issue is if the cameras work for a month or two then crash out again I would be right back in this predicament having the faulty system once more.
A Vivint representative has attempted to reach Mr. ** to assist with this matter via phone and email. I have been a Vivint customer for over 3 years. During this entire period, the alarm system has not functioned properly, rendering it effectively useless. Despite years of troubleshooting, equipment upgrades, and repeated assurances from Vivint, the problems persist, and Vivint is now attempting to hold me financially responsible for over $1,000 in equipment costs—despite the fact that the system has never worked.
Details:
Since the beginning of my contract, the alarm system continuously triggered false alarms, making it impossible to arm the system or rely on it for security.
I repeatedly contacted Vivint, and was eventually told that my issues were due to an outdated control panel.
I finally agreed to pay for a replacement panel and additional equipment (camera and doorbell).
This resulted in over $1,000 in equipment fees, on top of years of monthly monitoring fees for a system that never worked.
Within 4 business days of the new installation, the upgraded system still does not work.
I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with Vivint customer support troubleshooting. Their only proposed solutions were:
That I purchase an additional protection plan, or That I pay out-of-pocket for a technician to return to fix the system they had just installed.
My request to cancel was denied because I supposedly missed the 3-day cancellation window by 1 business day.
This is an unfair business practice, especially since the equipment has never functioned as promised. Vivint is attempting to hold me hostage for equipment and services that have never worked, despite my good faith attempts to resolve issues.
Breach of Contract
Under the Terms of Alarm Monitoring, Installation, & Sale, Vivint is required to provide functional monitoring services and equipment
Vivint has failed to do so, constituting a material breach of contract.
I should not be penalized with cancellation fees or equipment charges when Vivint has not delivered the services I subscribed to.

I was charged for 4 months after I requested my account to be cancelled in May,2025. They told me they can see there is already an active account listed at the residence where the equipment is installed and they are paying the monthly fees but because my account is active, they charge me as well for the services. That I do not have access to. so, they are not only charging me but the current tenant as well as the owner of the property. I feel that this is completely unfair as I do not have any access to any of the services, I am being charged for. They are refusing to cancel my account unless I pay the amount being charged to me and will continue to charge my account until the balance is paid in full and will charge my account up until it is sent to collections.

Vivint Home Security system was installed in my home at **** ******* ****** ************** ** ***** since July 16, 2025. I was sexually assaulted in my bedroom. The embarrassment and humiliation was too much to bear. I request Vivint cancel my account without asking me to pay for equipment that does not work to catch criminals who evaded Vivint's security system and equipment repeatedly. Vivint's agents laughed at me and told me it was all in my head even though I filed police reports. The criminals stole my personal items multiple times and stole my car keys while Vivint did not detect 1 motion in the house.
The criminals moved freely in my home. I request Vivint remove their equipment from my home. I do not need equipment that cannot catch my abusers. The abusers took keys from my underwear.
My Blurams cameras repeatedly caught motion and sounds of my walls being cut and hit with blunt force.
Vivint failed to secure my safety. The criminals were in my home since I got Vivint. The criminals also have Vivint Home Security System. Vivint failed in their contract to secure my safety and have refused to cancel the contract especially after the sexual assault. Vivint's agents brutally mocked me. They jeered me in phone calls and found my abuse comical.
One supervisor offered to help but after I refused to buy more equipment she told me she would not help me.
I request Vivint cancel this contract with no payment as they cannot prevent these criminals harassing, robbing and sexually abusing me.

I recorded Vivint's Executive Representative stating the contact will be terminated without penalties, Vivint's equipment will be removed from my home and I will get a refund. The Rep indirectly suggested I leave my home. This lady could Not survive 1/4 of my abuse but had the audacity to try and be rude to me.This lady needs to leave training with certifications in communication and anger management. I put my house for sale March 2025. I called Vivint to come and remove cameras. They said I needed to transfer service to where I was moving. Told them it was apartment and could not place cameras. I was told it would be $750 to cancel. I received a call in August from a collection person stating I owe $1k, now I got a call today telling me I need $1500. Vivint told them they canceled me when I clearly canceled due to selling the house. They are refusing to.send the copy of contract. Its a scam. I pay Fortiva 67.00 per month for cameras I am stuck with.

In June 2022 Vivint Smart Home (security system) was installed at my residence. At the time of installation we were told the system would function even with our pets moving about the house - this was not the case. We told the installer we did not want the system as it was not going to work for us as we would not be able to arm the system. The installer said the system could remain as part of our solar agreement and there would be no charge for the systems since the two were connected. In June 2025, VIVINT started billing us nearly $49, however, since VIVINT had been sending invoices for $0.00 I paid no attention to the email. In July 2025, VIVINT started calling and when I talked with them I was very clear we did not want the service because it DOES NOT work for us. I went through a whole process of cancellation and then 40 plus minutes in I am informed I would need to pay the initial $49 in order to cancel, even though the installer had been told 3 years prior and I was stating it again. VIVINT has continued to call every single day about the invoice, for I service I do not use, and they have locked the app. I do not want the service and I want nothing to do with a security system that DOESN'T do what we were told it would. We have even purchased a different system that we currently pay for. I want the account cancelled along with the alleged balance due.

In the complaint, Ms. ******** has requested Cancellation, credit of past due and No further contact by Vivint due to stating in June 2022, she had a Vivint Smart Home system installed but immediately informed the installer it wouldn’t work due to pet movement triggering the system. The installer assured her it would be free as part of her solar agreement. Despite this, Vivint began billing her in 2025, and after attempting to cancel, she was told she must pay $49 to do so. She has since been harassed with daily calls, the app has been locked, and she wants the account and balance canceled for a service she never used and was misled about.
Vivint’s records show that Ms. ******** is enrolled in a Freedom Account, which provided complimentary monitoring services for a period of 36 months. This term concluded on June 21, 2025.
Ms. ********’s first documented request to cancel her account was received on July 18, 2025.
Vivint has not received Ms. ********'s Official Notice of Cancellation.
There are no records of Ms. ******** contacting Vivint regarding issues with her motion sensor. However, it is possible that the sensor may require adjustment to accommodate pet movement.
Please note: Access to the Vivint app has been temporarily restricted due to a past due balance on the account.
A Vivint representative has attempted to reach Ms. ******** to assist with this matter via phone and email. After reviewing the account, Vivint is pleased to present the following options for Ms. ********'s consideration:
Option 1:

I called Vivint to cancel my service since I had sold my home. They told me initially that I would have to pay a cancellation fee but when I asked where is that in my contract suddenly they said I did not have to pay a cancellation fee and I just needed to send an email and it would take a month. I called a month later because they were still debiting payments from my account. I was told I called a day too early and to call again and they would make a note and no more payments should be debited and I would receive a refund. Well 3months later they are still debiting my account. The representative I spoke with last said he would cancel and asked why I said I moved and now I am frustrated because it is so difficult to cancel.

I was approached by a Vivint door to door salesman. He sold me on the fact they would install my equipment for free in exchange for advertising their services to others in our neighborhood. Then it turned into free equipment and installation but a monthly maintenance fee of $100 monthly. Part of the fee was billed through them the other is through a 5 year line of credit through another company. I didn’t know their standard monthly rate was $40 until I looked at reviews. At least once a month the doorbell camera they installed just stops working and I have to wait days for a technician to come out, which is only after talking to an agent via chat for over an hour who continuously tries to upsell other products even though the ones already provided don’t work. Because of the 5 year line of credit I am now stuck with this without the ability to cancel unless I pay $5800. I take the blame for letting this company scam me and overcharge me for a non functional product with the worst customer service experience imaginable. I just want to end my relationship with them which they won’t allow me to do without extorting me.

Been with Vivint for over 6 years and it’s been rocky, but my wife and I still give them grace. For the past month we have not been able to use our equipment because something is wrong with security system. We’ve called countless times, we’ve begged to have someone come out. Someone finally came out and did absolutely nothing, nothing but log into his iPad and ask questions and said someone would contact me. This is ridiculous and for us as consumers l, disrespectful at the minimum. Someone paying every month to get the service and can’t use. I need help with someone who legitimately can do something to help us with the service we are paying for.
