I had a live in who had this system that is now no longer with me (they had to be escorted via police), so now their system was left behind. I do not want it, my landlord does not want it, I am not paying for it, and I want them to come and take it. I have tried to talking to the company directly in which they said that they cannot help me, they are simply the security company.
The person who owned it in my home is:
Nicole Govan

Bottom line: Vivint is charging me for service that I did not use.
1. I canceled my Vivant service is June 2023.
2. Due to military deployment, I moved from the residence in Jan 2024.
3. I sold the property in March 2024
4. While deployed, Vivant began charging me for a service at s house I no longer owned. I don’t even live in SC any longer.
5. In addition, they told me they wouldn’t cancel my service unless I paid the amount they say I owe. They are telling me I will continue to be charged the monthly service.
At this point, I’m trying to deal with getting my life back on track from deployment. I don’t know what to do. I told them I never agreed to put my account on pause! Why would I do that if I was selling the house, deploying, and moving to another state? I also told them I could provide my orders showing I was deployed and docs showing when I sold the house. Please PLEASE assist. I’ve never heard of a company doing this.Business Response

RE: Consumer Complaint Case #: 22270197
Complainant: Sheberria Harms
Vivint Account #: *******
Date of Agreement: April 8, 2022
To Whom It May Concern:
I have reviewed the information provided
by Ms. Harms and
appreciate the opportunity to respond.
In her complaint, Ms. Harms states that she cancelled the account
in June 2023. Ms. Harms states that due to military deployment she moved in January
2024 and sold the property in March 2024. Ms. Harms states that she continues
to be charged and has been told she cannot cancel until she pays the
outstanding balance. Ms. Harms desires the monitoring service agreement to be
cancelled.
Vivint’s records indicate that Ms. Harms signed a Purchase and
Services Agreement (“Agreement”) on April 8, 2022. On June 9, 2023, Ms. Harms
called Vivint inquiring about cancellation as she could no longer afford the
service. Vivint’s representative was able to assist by offering and applying a twelve-month
deferment approved by Ms. Harms. On September 5, 2024, Ms. Harms called about
her account. On September 9, 2024, Vivint reviewed the call of June 9, 2024,
which confirmed that Ms. Harms agreed to having the deferment applied. On
September 10, 2024, Ms. Harms was offered a payment settlement in order to
assist with the cancellation of her Agreement, which she declined. On September
11, 2024, Ms. Harms called about her account. Vivint’s representative explained
that the call was reviewed and what was determined in the call. Ms. Harms mentioned
that she sold the home due to being deployed at the time the deferment was
offered.
A Vivint representative has attempted to reach Ms. Harms to assist
with this matter via email. After reviewing the account, Vivint agrees to
cancel with forgiveness the remainder of the Agreement effective September 17,
2024. Ms. Harms has no further obligation to Vivint.
To resolve this matter, Vivint agrees to the resolution as stated
above. Ms. Harms may contact Vivint’s representative with any questions or
concerns she may have.

I have several complaints starting with the sales person who arrived at my home on 8/20/24 around 7pm est. After denying his offer several times he insisted that I will not be locked into a contract as I was very specific about that and the salesperson also stated that I can give it a try and cancel anytime during the first week (7 days) with a full refund. My husband still insisted that he didn’t want the service but the salesperson kept pushing on how our home would win him a trip to Mexico ( practically begging and bribery at this point). After hours went by I asked if we could do the install at a later date as it was getting late and he insisted the install must take place the same day. My installation did not get completed until 11:57pm on 8/20 while the salesperson was sitting in my home the entire time until the installer showed up at almost midnight (very uncomfortable and unprofessional) I decided to call on 8/21 to get a breakdown of pricing because my sales person gave me documentation with different pricing than the installation person. I later called again on the 8/23 to cancel but the automated system stated that it was after hours so I sent an email the following day on 8/24 (the 4th day) requesting to cancel. Here we are 3 weeks later and I’ve spoken to several different reps who’s telling me I can’t cancel because my cancellation is outside of policy. First off, my services were not installed until practically midnight which I have proof of and secondly my rep told me I had a week. I’ve reached out to my salesperson about his dishonesty when Vivint tried to contact him to confirm the cancellation agreement he proposed to me. I am beyond furious with the hassle and the dishonesty. I sat for several hours with this salesperson all for a 11pm installation just to get portrayed by him and ran in circles by customer service reps. I just have 2 sensors, doorbell & panel. I just want my refund, cancellation of credit and equipment picked up asap.Business Response

On July 23rd.2024 I paid a salesman 2.437.98 up front to have the security system installed. I was told by the sales rep if I paid up front my monthly payment would be 27.00 a month. I was also told that I would have a free technician to fix my system as long as I stayed with Vivint, I have saved all the messages where I talked to the salesmen acknowledging the above. The salesman kept saying the main office would email me confirming the 27.00 a month and free tech support as long as I stayed with Vivint, Come to find out I have only 120 days tech support and my bill would go up 10.00 per month in 3 months.. The sales rep was Ray Zhang, When I signed up for the system it said I had 2 months top change my mind, I have been trying to cancel Vivint system and get my money back for six weeks. I have until Sept. 21 to change my mine. No one will listen to me and cancel system and refund my money. Thanks Susan CampbellBusiness Response

We had Vivint come out and reinstalled our existing equipment as we had moved. After the reinstall we were charged for new equipment that was never installed. I have wasted well over 12 hours of my time and my wife has spent at least 3 hours on hold with this despicable company. We are still waiting on our remaining credits ($107 of the $250 they stole - yes stole because we received nothing new from Vivint) for the new equipment which was charged against our account but we never had installed nor do we want anything further from Vivint other than our money back; and in a perfect world, to hand back all our equipment and wipe our hands of Vivint.
I’d be more than happy to have Vivint come out and count the door/window sensors in our home. The equipment I’m attaching is the same equipment as we had in our old house prior to have service transferred which is $150 for uninstall and then $150 again for reinstall. I really hope I don’t have to take this to small claims court. It would look silly for Vivint. Vivint has offer to comp one of the install fees which is fine but is a vast cry from the $750 of my time they wasted trying to make it “right”. They have yet to refund my wife’s checking account for the sensors they incorrectly charged us for. Going on 2 weeks post “resolution”Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:it does not address how we were unable to pay a couple of our bills timely due to their inability to invoice correctly. Further my time goes for over $58.90/hr at work (I place higher value on my personal/family time) and it shouldn’t take being on hold for a minimum of 12 hours to obtain a refund that was their error. To clarify, I accept in part the $150 refund for the remaining sensors we were incorrectly charged for that Vivint made in their initial offer which shall preclude any credits for their botching our transfer of service, the interest on the money which was taken from my family’s checking account which is now taken over a month later to resolve, in addition to monthly credits equal to 1/4 of my time spent on the phone with Vivint that robbed me of time with my family ($58.90 x 3 hours) $179.40.
This would make things right.

My panel is not working, and this is a brand new unit. As a result, I have to leave my home unsecured, which is a significant concern. I've experienced ongoing issues with my Vivint equipment over the past three years, despite being a loyal customer.
I need a technician to address this problem as soon as possible. I have video evidence of the issue if needed.

Salesman came to my door offer security systems “VIVINT”. Told me I could try the product for 7 days to which I could cancel. He had me sign forms on his tablet. Product was installed August 17, I called August 22nd to cancel, spoke to someone in “loyalty department” he explained I had to call the sales person. I told them to document I called to cancel. Apparently that documentation doesn’t exist. I sent an email per VIVINT policy August 23rd. They emailed me in September saying unsuccessful. Called to find out why, they said I only had 3 business days to cancel. Spent hours trying to cancel they told me the sales person never said that, and the contract they had me sign only says 3 days. Now I’m in a 60 month contract when all I wanted was to try the equipment. My wife and I rather have something else.Business Response

Why choose a BBB Accredited Business?BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.
BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
