Sunpower filed for bankruptcy now a company named Sun strong owns it. I called on February 14th to figure out how to update my checking account in that conversation the rep advised I haven’t received payment so I was confused because I contacted them the months ago to register on the new site twice she said it might been a system error and said launching servicing sent something to report to my credit and Sunpower never reported to my credit in that we were disconnected and Feb 17th was an holiday. Called today spoke to another rep at Sun strong. She said the issue was I have my bank account information in there twice so that probably messed up the system and that’s why it wasn’t taking payments out of my bank account. Then said i have late fees so I said so your system had an issue and didn’t take the payments out my account and I had no clue so it’s my fault and I had the account since 2021 with no issues nor lapse. I look Sunday & 11,000 was put on my credit and said it was late when it was due to a system error. I advised I had no problem paying what’s owed but the lates and account needs to be removed off my credit as it’s a system error and it solar has never showed on any of our credit she said it’s because it’s showing late no payment. I said but u advised it was a system error so I wasn’t late my bank account was linked in the account so I shouldn’t be faulted for that. I asked for a supervisor and she said she doesn’t have one. I need to be contacted by someone to resolve this issue. I want these lates removed and account removed off my credit. And we can figure out a payment option & the late fees removed. because an system error isn’t my fault. I didn’t have any of these issues until the original company filed bankrupt.Business Response

Regions is a bank that took over the loan for my solar panels. It was supposed to re-amortize once a year for three years so in January I called 3 times about it because it hadn’t re-amortized. After speaking with an escalation specialist, I was assured that my new payment would be lowered to $212.42 on 1/19/2025. I received my February statement and the amount was not changed. I called and was told it would now take effect in March. Totally unacceptable! When asked to speak with a supervisor I was told I would get a call back 24-48 business hours. I have spent way too much time on phone calls to this businessBusiness Response

This company is impossible to get a hold of. I’ve tried multiple times to contact them after they took over Sunpower to no avail. I need to get someone on the phone before I put my account number into a company’s system that I never had any contact with. Today I woke up to a late payment shown on my credit. Again I called 5 times!!! The phone kept hanging up on me!!Business Response

Our solar power stopped working since Feb 2024, I have called their support line a few times to get this issue resolve but they cancelled our appointment with the technician Three consecutive times with no further explanation until sunpower declared bankruptcy and we have no choice to but to wait until the new management will start operating. I have submitted at least 3 request under the new management but nobody have ever called me back to resolve the issue. I have been paying my monthly dues of ($130/month) despite my system not being operational. I would like them to repair our solar as soon as possible and refund all the payment I made since Feb 2024 because as per our contract . If they are not able to deliver their promise to produce energy then we are entitled for a refund.Business Response

I was charged for Oct/Nov/Dec when my solar system was NOT activatedBusiness Response
Date: 02/04/2025
The Lease Term Start Date, as defined in the contract, is the date your utility approves the interconnection of the system and not when your system begins producing energy. Your first monthly payment is due on the one-month anniversary of the Lease Term Start Date.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
It is unacceptable to have to pay for a service when you are not receiving anything for it. I understand the system was approved by utility company however for the entire months of October November and December my solar system was not working. I believe I should be refunded the 217.50 that I was billed for this time periodBusiness Response
Date: 02/12/2025
Your first monthly payment was due one month after the Lease Term Start Date. Your first statement included the monthly payments for November, December, and January, totaling $217.50, which was due on January 1, 2025. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we are unable to issue a refund for payments required under the terms of your contract.Initial Complaint

Thirteen years ago, we had 72 solar panels installed on our property through ********. The panels need two inverters to run them properly while saving energy.
******** went bankrupt in August 2024. The company was replaced by ********* ********** at ** *** *****, Sioux Falls, SD 57109.
Prior to ******** going bankrupt, one of their technicians came to our property and assessed the issue with our inverters. He discovered that one of our inverters was bad and needed to be replaced around May 2024. We set an appointment for another technician to come to our property and replace the bad inverter. The day they were supposed to come and replace the inverter in August of 2024, we got a text and an email that the company was bankrupt and would not be coming to replace the bad inverter.
We were later informed that ********* would be the company to replace our bad inverter.
We have made multiple attempts to contact ********* about this issue and were finally given a website to put in a work order request. We received an email that they would contact us to rectify the problem, Which they have not done yet.
There is no phone number for ********* so, we cannot talk to a real person to resolve the issue.
Not only are we paying full price for half the service, but we are also paying higher power bills because of the failed inverter. This means that we are still paying $177 a month for only half of the service because one of our two inverters is bad. Since this issue began we have paid $1,598 to ******** and *********. In addition, higher power bills for the last nine months the inverter has failed.
Moving forward, we don't know what to do to get this problem resolved. If we stop making payments because of not receiving full service, it goes against our credit and we are not the ones at fault.
If there is any way that the Better Business Bureau can advocate for us in resolving this issue, that would be amazing!
Thank you so much for making time to read our complaint.Business Response

Now out of Biz Sun Power with home we had a 20 year lease agreement for an installed solar panel array. Having Raccoon issues some panels needed to be removed in order to facilitate roof repairs. Sun Power removed the entire army and mounting Frame. System incapacitated they demanded monthly lease payments for a disabled system & refused to reinstall it. Now a new Company has taken over after the bankruptcy continuing where they left off with collection calls and not a single off to restore the solar system to its original functional state. All the solar panel mounting frame parts & all the solar panels are laying on their side against my home in the backyard producing zero electricity.Business Response

This company mentions that a transfer of solar to a new home buyer can take up to 60 days. After all information needed to complete the transfer of my home solar system I was told that a case manager would be assigned within 24-48 hrs. It has now been 7 days with no luck. As of today. Solar transfer is the only thing holding up my escrow close and we are in risk of buyers cancelling this sale. Multiple attempts to reach out to their customer service by the realtor and myself are unsuccessful and every representative says the same thing. They offer to have an escalation department manager reach out but they never do and say that all they can do is notate the account. This company does not seem to care how many people’s lives hang in the balance of their processes. I’ve mentioned that of buyers back out due to how long this process is taking, I will seek legal action.Business Response

Account was originally ****** ******. I noticed immediately that the last two months payments of $150 each were not credited on the Launch statement. After hours of hold times, I was told to submit the proof which included the last invoice from ****** and bank statements. I did this twice with an automatic response of receipt. I was significantly ahead on payments and they just were willing to start taking the patments again. I can NOT reach anyone to speak about this. I have only 7 months to resolve or I will pay $30O extra or stop the auto draft which could hurt my credit more than looking like my account was referred did and sadly I was 5 months ahead on payments. As a customer I did nothing but pay my bill in good faith, I did nothing sell or buy my account.Business Response
