The website only says a one-time purchase is **** dollars. And it charged me ***** via paypal in July 23,2023(transacation id:39650225F5845290V) without explicitly telling me they will do a subscription on the website. The original transaction was on 11/1/2022 which was for a PDF editing application that was web based and a subscription service. I used it at work and for 1 document. After completed I canceled the subscription so I should have only had the initial charges and maybe 1 month at most since I discontinued and no longer used the product.Charges continued to go on until June 2023 of $39.95 with 2 charges that were actually charged in May. I am not sure why I was double charged in a month even if I had an active subscription. I have tried using my email and my phone number to login to my account, but it would not pull up any account. I finally had the company cancel my credit card and they told me, "You will not be charged any fees for the use of PDFSimpli." which was great, so I was expecting all the charges to be reversed but now they are backtracking and are only refunding 1 month.The send me 4 files that were used with the software which was great. The 1st file is the one I used and edited. The 2nd one is not mine and some lease/rental contract. The last 2 files are for another employee at the dealership it looks like with their name on it! So, it shows the account was probably on the work computer and my CC information saved on there. So, with this information I am waiting on a reply from them but last response they sent me a copy of their terms and conditions and are already backtracking from what they already told me about refunding me.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: When I called support, they clearly said they were going to cancel my account and I would not be charged any fees for the use of the program. Their email that they sent confirmed the same thing as well. This email was sent by 2 different people, so I am not sure what changed. "Thank you for using PDFSimpli. We appreciate your business and value you as a customer. Per your request, we are issuing you a refund and your account was closed. You will not be charged any fees for the use of PDFSimpli." I offered to pay for 1 month during this phone call because I told the customer service person that I did use the program for 1 document, and they were insistent that it was no problem and that my fees will all be refunded back to me. This was your company that promised this and I even offered to pay for 1 month when I used this program. Also, when you sent me the documents that were used with the program you could clearly see the everything except the 1st document was NOT mine. It had a different name on it. Even in the event of fraud where it was not me using the application you will still leave me no opportunity to just refund me charges that were not even by myself.

This does not make any sense. I made the initial purchase, but then someone else used my card. It was loaded on a work computer and their documents that provided which they show were edited had another person's name on them and were not completed by me. Since they used my computer, they reactivated my account, and these charges should be fraud. Not only that but when I called, I was told that all the charges would be refunded, and I offered and insisted on paying the 1 month I actually used the services. I send the email copy which shows exactly that same promise that I was emailed saying they would refund me for using their program. It was fraud from whoever used my computer after me you can see the name on the document, and I was already told the payments would be refunded. This is a scam and should not be acceptable. They did not make a good faith refund and they have been a pain to work with after their initial customer service and have been impossible to reach.Business Response

I was going over my bank charges today which I guess I should do more often because I noticed a charge for $39.95 from a PDFsimpli company, I was shocked I went back to see if I had any other charges because the only time I authorized a charge was for one document to be converted to a PDF. I was shocked, I have been charged 3 months in a row for something I've never used never gave authorization for this is a scam for a company to make money I am very disappointed. I attached the actual only email in my inbox with a subject payment receipt, which at the time would of been as your misleading information for only $1.95 for the single transaction. I never received any emails ever from your company with any other payment transaction receipt or any emails for any thing else ever but was charged for 3 following months the $39.95, why would you not send a receipt for those? Because you know you were charging me unauthorized and unknowingly. This has taken a lot of my time and I feel this way a malicious act of fraud on your companies behalf. Upon reviewing my billing statements, I noticed that this company was fraudulently charging my account in the amount of $39.95 each month. I never once authorized these charges nor used this service. I contacted WorkSimpli to inform them of the fraud and the fraudsters themselves replied saying all they would be willing to do is refund the most recently charge rather than the several fraudulent charges that were never authorized. They can also confirm on their own end that I was not using their services and did not authorize the charges yet they continue to deflect. They reference their terms of cancelling a free subscription but I was never the one to sign up for this in the first place and someone else illegally used my payment information yet they take zero responsibly and do not honor the laws based around fraudulent charges such as this case.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:WorkSimpli was informed of this in writing and they are playing 'dumb' but I have evidence of informing them of the such. I also informed PayPal of this matter and PayPal advised me to contact WorkSimpli but rather than investigating themselves or complying with regulations, they play 'dumb' and refer back to their Terms which have NOTHING to do with fraudulent charges. They continue to backtrack on their words and run an illegitimate business where when informed of fraud they attempt to weasel their way out of it, but I will continue to pursue until WorkSimpli does what they are required to do and refund me all fraudulent charges and investigate this properly.

On the PDFSimple.com website I paid $1.00 on Mar 13, 2023 to try the software. It was useless to me and I moved on. I then later began receiving monthly charges of $39.95 to my credit card (4 months now for $159.80. Any agreement that I may have inadvertently acknowledged with a mouse-click was buried in fine print. I also never received any communication or acknowledgement from them that I had signed-up for their on-going service. I signed up with PDFSimpli under very deceptive pretense. This shady website advertises their services on ****** as being free. When I got onto their site, I found I had to pay $1.95 to edit one pdf, and I thought ok, that isn't bad. Yet - Today I found 3 different charges of $39.95 on my account from this site. I edited ONE pdf file, just ONE, back in March, and due to unclear and very deceptive fine print that even my eyes could not read clearly, I am being charged $39.95 a month by these swindlers. I have seen their responses to other people, claiming their subscription and 'refund policy' are both very clear - these are lies. They are NOT clear, or I doubt so many people would edit pdf's through them. Today I spoke with a very rude agent during chat support, who seemed to have English as a second language - so this is probably an offshore company. I could be wrong, however. The point is that they engage in very deceptive and predatory billing practices, and need to be shut down. Do not respond to me with your lies of clear subscription and refund policies. I did not even want a subscription! I just wanted to pay $1.95 for the ONE pdf file I edited and that is IT. These criminals need to be shut down. After the 14-day full access ended your account was enrolled in the $39.95 option. After every subscription purchase we send an email to our customers to confirm their purchase. Your confirmation was sent March 6, 2023, We have attached the evidence of the email confirming your subscription and additional information of your registration that was sent on March 6, 2023. The cancellation for this account was on June 16, 2023. We did not receive any cancellation request before that. We went ahead and refunded your payment method for the charge of $39.95 on June 13, 2023 within our refund policy. You should see the funds reflect in your account in 5-7 business days.a cancellation for your account was made It is no longer active. I am rejecting this response because:This company uses negative option billing, and they do not use it in such a way that makes their outrageous subscription prices clear. It is illegal to use negative option billing in that manner in the **, and *********** is a ** territory. Or is this company not actually in ***********, where they claim? Regardless, not even my 20/20 vision can easily pick out the fine print of their ridiculous subscription. It is absolutely NOT clear -- so unclear that I thought I had purchased one-time PDF editing. This kind of grift is really not ok.

We have a $1.45 and $1.95 option. In both options it is mentioned if the account is not cancelled within the 14 day trial it will continue as a monthly subscription. The information is clear and there is no negative billing made. We provide contact options and information for your cancellation it is all in the website and then sent by email after a purchase is made.Our offices are in ***********. We are always available to assist our customers if they have question about their account created. In order to process with the purchase trial you had to accept terms and conditions. We do not offer one-time PDF editing there is no option or advertising in our website for a one time deal. Please provide evidence of this one time deal option that you mentioned. PDF Simpli offers a 30 day trial before you are billed an OUTRAGEOUS $39.95 per month just to convert files... They do not give you a warning before you are billed, they just simply take the money and refuse to refund you. Stay away from this very scammy company, and just buy the proper conversion software, or hire someone on Fiverr. What a ripoff!Business Response

I was using it once, they took $1.45 for a PDF file.I didn't have any subscription with this company, yesterday you charged me $39.95, for which I did not approve that money to be taken from my PayPal account.
