1 starI've used this company for web hosting on a ******* website I did, and never had an issue. My current hosting company sold their business, and I need to transfer my domains out. I set up and pay for hosting at IONOS, and it went to a pending status.I start getting emails about my owing on a previous account that was closed back in 2019. I had never received any sort of notice about this, otherwise I would have paid the $11 and change. Their only option to pay was by wire transfer. So, I call them to get it figured out. I don't care about the small amount of money I owe, and am more than willing to pay for it, as I remember trying them out at one point. The lady tells me that there is NO other way to pay other than by wire transfer.I start getting emails from IONOS telling me the same thing. I keep telling them that I will not pay by wire transfer, as I don't trust them to begin with. After about the 10th email, I call them back and get placed on hold for 28 minutes without anyone checking in on me. I hang up and call back, where I get a billing person right away. Another 22 minutes of telling this guy that I won't do a wire transfer, and he just keeps telling me that it's the only way. It just went in that circle until I finally told him to have a nice day.Every company in the history of companies will give you more than one option to resolve a debt. *rolls eyes* I requested my money back on the new account I had just paid for, and there doesn't seem to be an issue there; but time will tell.With that type of business and customer support, I will never use them again!*Now watch them respond saying that the only way to pay is by wire transfer!Review fromAdam B

1 starIonos has very unethical business practices when it comes to domain renewal and billing customers without any advance notice. I used to have a hosting package which I cancelled 3 years ago and they changed my domain to pay the renewal price. The domain renewal period is 9-3-2024 but they charged me for the renewal today 6-23-24. If you call and ask to move the domain to another register, they advise you that you still have to pay the $17 renewal since they charged that already today. Would be nice to receive an email indicating that there will be an upcoming charge instead of after the fact. When you call, they say that it is per their contract. I will move my remaining 2 domains to cloud flare after this renewal and will never go back to IONOS even if they would pay me. Very unethical billing practice. I think they do it on purpose because a reputable company would provide advance notice of upcoming billing, and IONOS does not! Also per the representative, if I were to cancel the domain, I would not be billed, but if I wanted to move it to another register immediately, then I would still be billed. Still unfair. I wonder if the *** is aware of their billing practices. I'm not surprised that their rating is a 1.17 / 5IONOS, Inc.

Please note, all renewal notifications are sent to the ************* of the control panel prior to renewal and it is the responsibility of the customer to manage the account which includes monitoring for renewal dates and upcoming invoices.
If an invoice is generated outside of the expected renewal date, this can be the result of a change in the contract (i.e downgrade/change of service)

1 starYou guys keep reactivating the list local essential after calling many different months to tell you guys to stop. You had to refund me $100 last month & once again are trying to charge me this month for the service i did not request. You then charged me annually for a service i have been paying every month for. You guys do not make sense & this is now borderline crossing no consent for the charges you guys have placed.IONOS, Inc.

When a service is requested for cancellation, a cancellation confirmation email is sent to the email address on file for the account notating the service to be terminated and the effective date. The effective date is at the end of the term.
We can confirm that your initial request to terminate has been subsequently revoked to allow for a termination with an immediate effective date. The service in question is terminated. All notifications have been sent to the email address on file.

2 starsTerrible support. Used to be good when they were 1and1, now it seems none of their support techs know anything, cant understand basic problems, and literally refuse to transfer you. No supervisors to complain to. I was either told the manager was not on duty, didn't answer phone calls, or some other nonsense. Been a customer 20 years and I am starting to look for a different provider for myself (10+ domains) and all my clients (I am an IT service provider). They get two stars because their prices are good and generally my service is functional.IONOS, Inc.

1 starThis company sent my account to collection and tried to charge ridiculous fees and when I attempted to cancel their service, they dated of the cancellation a year later. than the date I requested the cancellation to validate their collection. They are outsourcing their customer service line in out of the ** to make it difficult to speak to someone that understands what is going on. 1 starIonos is falsely charging their customer money on additional services that the customers didnt sign up for or falsely lead to believe that there was no charge for. They recently charged me for marketing radar service which I never signed up for. They also charged me for two ********** Hosting packages which were shown to be $0 when I was prompted to sign up. When I called to complain, their representative ******* told me that they would refund the marketingradar charge but couldnt do anything about the ********** hosting charges, and that he would try but couldnt make any promises and will send me an email on the decision. He then hung on the call saying that I was arguing with him not giving me the opportunity to clarify my concern. I agree with other complaints that they have deceptive and illegal billing practices and if you are not on top of your account activity then be ready for surprise up charges and ********.IONOS, Inc.

1 starSigned up for VPS service on January 16, 2024. Everything was fine until I discovered on March 14 they decided to disable my login and website with no warning given. They have not made it clear why my account was locked only a security issue. I have a simple business service website with nothing unusual in it. After spending over an hour on the phone with customer service I received an email from the "security team" requesting proof of business ownership and identification. If that is something they require they should make that request upfront prior to the customer being able to use the product for 3 months. I reluctantly complied with their request on March 16, 2024 if only to be able to regain access to my domains and my work that is now effectively being held hostage by this horrible company. I've sent multiple follow up emails to the security team.IONOS, Inc.

1 starDeceptive and illegal business and billing practices. I turned off all auto renew on my domains as I like to decide which to pursue further or not, after one year they send demand letters and threat to send accounts to collection when auto renew is turned off.IONOS, Inc.

1 starIONOS has repeatedly tried to add services to my account without my approval and charge me ridiculous fees after a phone call telling me that they have new services in 2024. When I try to contact the customer support team they try to assure you that contracts have been cancelled and the account is no longer available but fail to provide follow up emails or validation.
This leads to reminder emails a month later with missed payment charges for services and fees I never added or agreed to. When I first started using their service to buy domains at cheaper prices than their competitors I thought they were great, now going through this experience I want nothing to do with them. Im so angry at how they handled this I may file complains every month until this is resolved.
