1 starRoto-Rooter came out to my rental property to check with a video camera for a sewer crack. When I received the estimate via email, it stated that the video showed a crack in my pipe and I was given an estimate of $14,800 to fix it. Luckily, I paid two other seperate plumbing companies to check the pipe and both informed me I had no crack at all. After asking Roto-Rooter for proof of the video he took so I could see the crack he never was able to send it. I spoke to the GM and informed him of the situation and was told the employee "could not find" the video. Roto- Rooter is not only high in price but will blatantly lie to you. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!Review fromJudy K

1 starSpend your money elsewhere. We take great pride in our home and live in a nice suburb where any improvements made to our home are taken with great consideration to quality. We don't have a problem paying good money for good quality products and labor. Our home has 2 of everything - 2 AC units, 2 furnaces, 2 water heaters, 2 kitchens, etc. Back in 2020 we had both of our water heaters replaced by Roto-Rooter. Within 2 years, one of them broke and RR came out to fix it. We were charged the labor and parts, thankfully the water heater was under warranty. Now, in 2024, the other water heater broke, and we had to have it replaced. In fact, we facetimed with a family member (out of state) who is familiar with this type of work, and he told us to "immediately turn it off or it will blow"! We have spent over $6,000 in 4 years!!! My concern is the lack of confidence that this company uses quality products and installs them with care and knowledge or concern of customer safety. The average life of a water heater should be 10 years! If RR cared at all about their customers, they would rethink the products they use and not charge hefty fees for work they did and crappy products they choose to use. All RR seems to care about is finding ways to overcharge customers for cheap products so they can fund their advertising and their Executive Leadership Team. Their selfish hope is to use their colorful advertising to entice more customers that they can s**** over. I find it unfortunate we can't support a local (**** based) company. We will be sure to share our experience with our community so others do not make the same mistake and use RR.Judy K

Update - the customer service manager reached out and I was hopeful a resolution would be presented but they have decided to ignore legitimate complaints. Here is part of my conversation with the manager.
It is my understanding that someone will be by to do a water test. While I can appreciate the effort, I'm not quite sure what this will accomplish at this point in the process. While the technician was installing the water heater (Monday the 15th) he made mention that hard water could be harmful and perhaps we should look into a water softener. We mentioned that we do have a water softener. Now, we're being told that a water test should be done because perhaps the water softener may be "eating the lining" of the water tanks. Well, which is it?
Regardless of what the water test may show (which requires additional time away from work for either my husband or myself), shouldn't this have been done prior to the initial installation back in 2020 to have prevented any issues and/or to have installed a water heater that is compatible with whatever type of water we have, hard or soft?
They did come do a water test and concluded our water is "perfect". It was also mentioned that the products from big box stores are not reliable and directly from a supplier would last several years more and better quality. Our issue is that we were NEVER given an option! We would have opted for the better quality product! There is a lack of consistent, accurate information and RR cannot be trusted.
Point is, RR is not consistent with the information they give you and will install crap products so they can purposefully charge you labor to fix mistakes that they create!Review fromC. S.

5 starsEmployee Review: Andy F********* Service Tech #3170 Dear Roto-Rooter Management, I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding service provided by Andy F********, Service Tech #****, on July 8th, 2024 at 6pm. We called Roto-Rooter to address a clogged drain in my 93-year-old father's kitchen. Since my dad has hearing difficulties and communication challenges, we were particularly concerned about finding a patient and respectful technician. Andy exceeded our expectations. • Kindness and Respect: He was incredibly patient and understanding with my father throughout the entire process. • Expertise: Andy demonstrated a strong understanding of his trade by quickly diagnosing the problem and efficiently clearing the clog, which was located 35 feet down the drain. • Dedication: Despite already completing five calls that evening and having two more scheduled, Andy remained focused on resolving our issue. Overall, Andy's professionalism, expertise, and genuine care for our situation were truly remarkable. He is an asset to Roto-Rooter, and I believe he would be an excellent mentor for others who strive to provide exceptional customer service. Thank you once again for your outstanding service. We wish Andy continued success with Roto-Rooter! Sincerely, **** *.Review fromSteven L

2 starsDecent service just way over priced and feel completely ripped off. A simple snake of a clogged drain and was charged $600.00. I was told by multiple other plumbers (after the fact) that the charge should have been no more that $250. Not an emergency service either. I will never use this company again and will surely spread the word.Roto-Rooter

1 starIn a nutshell.... $54,000 to fix sewer and downspout drains. After talking to county sewer dept and county ran cameras down property and street ...everything was fine. After vacation roto...oh sorry about that... Downspouts 2 weeks ago...$7,000...today...$2,000. I could go on and on...but im sure you get the picture. One more thing.... "You need to pay $1,500 to get sewer line jetted will take several hours". After telling them what county showed...sent someone back out to "JET" the sewer line...free of charge...took 30 minutes. RUN.RUN.RUN. They use total scare tactics. RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN...FASTER....RUN RUN RUN. ALWAYS call your sewer dept before deciding on any work...from anyone. So in the end... Sewer line OK...sewer line in street OK. Downspout line....after 2nd and 3rd opinions... Dig up 4 foot and fix it yourself for probably $50.00. NOT $50,000. *****. This is what the big business world has come to.Roto-Rooter

1 starA few months ago I had water back up in my crawl space, I called Roto Rooter to come and assess the problem. They said there was standing water in my crawl space and they had tablet in hand and told me what all needed done, shared an approximate price of cleanup $4,000-$5,000 to clean up. They told me they deal with insurance companies all the time and they would handle filing the claim, which was a relief to me because I had never done that before. The next three days was a whirlwind and they had come in and tore out all my lower kitchen cabinets and floors to the bare wood. I heard nothing from my insurance company so I called them. Low and behold no claim had been filed and they said they would start one immediately. Once the adjuster came he let me know that none of the cabinets or flooring should have been removed since the crawl space had the water damage. Long story short they cleaned the water but refused to clean up when they realized there was raw sewage under there. They finally got paid but it has cost me more ways than just that. A separate claim had to be filed for sewage. and has caused future issues for me on getting insurance on other things. They did not complete the work correctly either. They said we have pictures. but the second company has pictures too and had to put all new vapor barrier down because Roto Rooter did not do it, but charged me for it! Luckily the insurance company paid it because they submitted a bill for $9,000.00, and was sending me past due bills! I would not recommend them at all!Review fromG. G.

1 starI called because our outdoor drain was clogged. They sent a technician quickly who (I felt worked very hard). It didn't fix the issue.Today, someone came out with a camera, barely looked at the issue and said it was going to cost me $9,000. Later it became $7,500, but their manager was going to "hate them". I didn't like this, so I called another company. They literally fixed the issue for FREE, saying the bubbler was clogged. I offered them to have them clear out my line. They said it would be $850, and I gladly accepted this deal. The Field supervisor that quoted me $9,000 was ridiculous. He spoke poorly of the technician that came out yesterday and I really didn't appreciate that. That guy worked hard. All this guy did was try to scam me. Oh and the other company that I am using, said that they would do the same pipe repair as this company for ONLY $2,000. I lost money on this company and because of that, I will NEVER use them again. Shame on you all!Roto-Rooter
