Excellent service and plumber! Service was done perfectly and he was informative and friendly. I'd definitely recommend him and Roto Rooter! My only reason for giving 4 stars not 5 is because of the cost. The prices are extremely high! But I know that it's being done properly when Roto Rooter does the job. Especially the plumber they sent! He definitely deserves 5 stars!!!Review from John H

02-24. The service was for replacement of a main drain line at my home. Over 100 feet dig at 12 feet deep and installed incorrectly. Now failing at years into usage at the city connection point(s). No inspection permits pull, no inspections what so ever. Now there is a constant blockages at the my drain line to the city connection. Naturally, they won't honor any of their work. Just take the money and run and do a half ass job in the process. This company will not stand behind their workmanship. Horrible. Never use them for anything ever. Don't let them near you home ever or in. --------------------------------------- 03-24 Still waiting on someone to take actual responsibility for a messed up main drain sewer line install. Only been installed for 6 years and failing to drain correctly. Constantly back ups in the basement. This company is a rip off. Plain and simple, they could care less about any of their work. No quality standards, extremely poor customer service and don't call us we'll call you attitude, but the never do. No response what so ever and bad warranties. Avoid them like the plauge. ??Don't let them near your home.Review from Diane L

On Wed, Feb.7, I called Roto-Rooter for a cleanout of my slow, functioning sewer line. The technician came same-day, 5pm, and quoted me at $650, which seemed high but I agreed to. He got his line stuck 40 ft in, he was unable to retrieve it, and so had to return the next day to try and retrieve it. Giving me the night without the ability to flush the toilet. On Thur, Feb.8, the tech returned with his team leader, and the team leader tried to retrieve the line, unsuccessfully. They then called another team lead to locate the stuck line. It was located under my driveway. I was then informed that I could pay them $5100 to cut a hole in my driveway to retrieve THEIR equipment, or they could leave it in there, and my house would be condemned. So I signed, under extreme duress, and under an implied threat of house condemnation. They assumed that I had a collapsed sewer line that had "grabbed" their line, but my sewer line was fine. It was full of roots, which their line had gotten stuck in, but nowhere was it collapsed. They did not finish the job until Fri, Feb.9. I now have a running line, and a new sewer line cleanout in my driveway, but it's filled in with gravel, and they didn't even try to make the gravel level with the concrete. They didn't even clean up the paint they put in the street and the driveway and the yard. On Friday, I tried to find ways to get a discount, considering it was their machinery they were recovering. Charge me for the cleanout and the new piping, but not for the excavation and retrieval. I even offered to do the cleanup of the dirt and concrete myself if that would save me some money. Got nowhere, not even $100 discount. The manager would not even give me $100 for getting HIS equipment stuck in MY sewer line. An extremely unpleasant person, felt like I was talking to a ** *** member. This company will destroy your house and then grossly overcharge you to fix it. DO NOT LET THEM INSIDE YOUR HOUSE!Review from Hannah R

We had a plumber come out to our house in the fall of 2022 because of a water leak from the outdoor spicket, they quoted us around $450 to get this replaced - took the guy less than an hour. Last week the same pipe bust. When we called roto rooters we were past our warranty by maybe six months they didnt offer a discount of anything! We paid another company to do it the right way! The plumber that replaced it was SHOCKED the plumber from roto-rooter didnt use a freeze resistant pipe since the water line goes directly outside!! The plumber was SHOCKED! So we got to pay another $450 to another company who hopefully did it right! Fingers crossed! Loss of $450 and will NEVER use them again - which is a bummer because we own multiple properties!Review from Jos M

The experience w/this company has been nothing short of disappointing. It all began with an overflow in our restroom, which fortunately we contained to a small area. We contacted the company, Michael from the water restoration team arrived before the tech so we showed him the affected area n he initiated contact w/our insurance to start the claims process. While comm. w/the insurance company, a service tech arrived to assess the situation and determined that the issue wasn't originating from the main line. Michael, suggested snaking the toilets for an additional charge. The tech agreed to perform the task but stated no issues found w/flow issues from the main line. 2dys later, a mitigation team arrived to remove contaminated walls in the restroom. However, they left the vanity untouched, claiming it didn't need removal. I raised concerns about potential contamination, especially considering they had removed a significant portion of the walls due to water damage. It was perplexing how the vanity, if against one of the affected walls, wasn't considered contaminated. Later I found that during the attempt to remove the vanity, they damaged the angle valve and were unable to shut off the water supply. I called them back n wanted an additional $400 for repairs, but after refusal, they agreed to include it in the ongoing claim process. Being charged $8,000 for unnecessary removal of parts of the walls before the extent of the issue was determined seems dubious. They failed to provide an itemized billing breakdown, making it impossible to understand how the charges were calculated. Moreover, they left the drying equipment running for an excessive week-long period, despite it not being necessary for that duration. Their brief checks to assess dampness levels were inconsistent with my own readings, which were later confirmed to be accurate by the adjuster. Their explanation of discrepancies as potentially being due to different testing equipment seemed dubious at best."Roto-Rooter Response

Jake did a great job! Gave me all of my options and explained everything clearly. He went the extra mile to make sure everything was working correctly before finishing and cleaned up before he left. Very happy with the results!Review from Metin S

I recently had a distressing experience with ROTO ROOTER on March 18th, 2024, which compelled me to write this review to share my dissatisfaction with their service. I contacted them regarding Sewer/water backing up in our basement in ********, IL. An employee arrived at our house around 9 p.m. and parked his van in a way that blocked access to our cars. Despite this inconvenience, I offered payment options, and he proceeded with the job. However, his lack of preparation, including not bringing adequate towels, led to chaos during the cleanup process, with sewer water spreading and causing a foul odor. The situation worsened when, around an hour later, I requested the employee to move his van so I could take a guest to a nearby hotel. Despite assurances of payment and my family's presence in the house, he refused, citing baseless concerns about non-payment. This led to unnecessary conflict and police involvement. Overall, I was deeply disappointed by the unprofessional conduct displayed by Roto's employee and the lack of consideration for customer convenience and safety. The assumption of non-payment was unwarranted and caused unnecessary distress. I urge ROTO-ROOTER to improve its standards and conduct a formal investigation into this matter to prevent such incidents in the future.Review from Chad B

Jon did a great job. He was very thorough and detailed in discussing our problems. He gave us a choice of a few different options to fix the issues. I would definitely use Roto Rooter again in the future.
