1 starI was charged $700 by Roto-Rooter to install just a few feet of water line insulation, but they left the rest of the house unfinished due to it being a tight area. After waiting a few weeks with no progress, I asked another company to complete the job while they were spraying foam in the crawl space. Now, Roto-Rooter is demanding payment for services they never finished. I could see for paying for materials but not labor for a job not finished. Completely unprofessionalavoid this company if possible.Roto-Rooter

1 starWe had Roto-Rooter come out to our house for a clog about 6 months ago. After the clog was removed, we started getting back-ups over and over again to the point that we could not use our bathroom anymore until we put a camera down to check it out. Roto-Rooter did come back a second time because of the recurring back-ups. The second technician told me that the snake was getting caught on something metal that felt like corrosion. Fast-forward to two days ago when we finally got a real plumber out here. Well guess what, the plumber had to cut open our pipes only to find a piece of the end of a snake stuck in our pipe that the original Roto-Rooter technician left behind. And then they told me that there is no proof that it was them that left it behind. Well, you know, until you came out that first time, we never had a problem in 15 years and then we get back-ups and something stuck in the pipe. Then the lady that I discussed this with on the phone actually yelled at me and then hung up on me mid-sentence. Needless to say, that the amount of money Roto-Rooter has lost me in insane and their customer service is absolutely terrible.Review fromCassie L

1 starWe were quoted one amount then charged $16,000 over the top of that. Tried contacting them to figure it out since they charged us for things they did not do and for a bunch of after hours work done during normal business hours. Initially when we called the computers were down so they would call us back (they didnt). Then we get a notice saying theyll place a lien on our property if we dont pay within a certain number of days, but it wasnt sent immediately so we received it the day it was supposed to be placed. The email listed for the contact with billing issues had a typo so it wasnt usable, but I figured out what it was supposed to be. Called and emailed everyone I could and didnt get a response for over a week when I contacted corporate. Eventually they reviewed my proof that they overcharged and took around $3,500 off the bill. I can only imagine what else they over charged on that I didnt have proof of. We repeatedly communicated that we had not received our insurance funds yet and would pay them as soon as we did. Meanwhile I got more than one call from their office saying I know you got your insurance money so you have to pay us now. We dont even have floors or doors in our freaking house. We did not have the funds. The day I got the funds I drove an hour to hand deliver the check to them. Now, 1 week later I get a letter saying they have filed a lien on my property. I talked to them the day they did it and told them the check should clear our account the following day and I would bring them the check. I called to ask about it and they said it should come off soon. It had been 4 days since the correct bill and apparently that doesnt matter. Were just supposed to pay their ridiculous over charges up front with insurance money we hadnt yet received and fight them to refund it later. I asked to speak to the person in charge and it has been ringing for 20 minutes straight with no answer. Imagine that.Review fromErie M

1 starHorrible time with this company right from the start. The branch we were ‘working with’ is located in Throop, PA. My husband and I experienced a sewer back up and then were told we had some other complications that came along with it. The problem with Roto rooter is they were so quick to get our payment info and charge us the minute they had our info in their hands. They did NOT inform us of all chargers that would be made after the initial payment. They provided us with unreasonable estimate for the project which is $40,000. I did reach out to headquarters to let them know we’re a young couple being raked over the coals and they passed our concern to the branch manager. Branch manager called me on a Saturday, listened to me and said he’d call me back during the week to ensure we were charged correctly. Never heard from him again. Be mindful where you put your money because Roto rooter is far from mindful including their project manager (Vince) and branch manager. You need to call the right Rooter company which is Rossi Rooter in the time of need in NEPA! There is a lot to our situation that was unbelievable. The company didn’t even lift a finger to inform us that our insurance paid their astronomical bill. Compassionate? More like thief’s.Roto-Rooter

With regard to your recent experience, our in-home estimates assure you we are providing an accurate diagnosis to eliminate any surprises for you the customer, or our technician upon arrival. However, we stand behind the service we provided along with the quote that was given for the additional work needed. As a consumer you have the right to reject our services. We apologize we didnt meet your expectations but can assure you our prices and processes reflect top notch quality service along with applicable service warranty. ThanksC. S.

Hello, Thanks for the feedback but the project manager did a complete a typical bait and switch from the minute he obtained our payment information and left our house. He said we would only need to pay the deductible in which we did pay the day he was at our house. The next day we noticed more money was taken out of our account that wasnt explained to us. He refused to provide any documentation upon my request when I called and asked for documentation. He only provided documentation when we rejected to move forward with Roto Rooter. The crew members are very polite but it is a shame the project manager including owner ruins it for the entire crew. Charging someone over $3,000 to let fans run for a few days is astronomical. Hopefully other families see this review and know to explore other plumbing services in **** before investing any money or time into Roto Rooter.Review fromLauren B

1 starWe had a category III water loss. Let me count (some of) the ways in which the laborers, project manager, area general manager and accounts receivable deceived us.1) Improper and only partial containment/barriers/airlocks performed- thus further aerosolizing contamination throughout our home.2) Informing us of "zoned losses" category III loss near the toilet and a larger zone category II loss because it was "filtered by wood floor underlayment"-Leading us to over 2K in inappropriate charges fro the misinformation they gave us. 2) Not thoroughly scanning the home for initial damage. Rooms adjacent to the loss were ignored since they were tile (and I suspect they did not want the challenge of removing tile)3) After 3 attempts allowed at cleaning our home- debris from the water fall, dust, staining, and a strong odor remains- They did a very unimpressive and unprofessional job.4) Toilet drain and sink drain were not sealed- allowing sewer gases to leach into our home 5) Billing us/insurance for rooms that were not demolished/cleaned, significant mis-measurement of square footage and linear footage of things like insulation, hard wood floor removal, and baseboard and trim (to name just a few)6) The general area manager schedule a meeting with me and some of the team members to go line item by line item over my concerns. He did not show to the meeting and I was told this was not possible due to their accounts receivable person since we filed a claim with insurance they would only negotiate concerns with the insurance, not the client who hired them. 7) Pictures taken to submit to insurance were extremely misleading. Majority of the pictures were taken in an area where no direct Cat III water fell to make their job look better to insurance than was actually done.We were under duress coming home to a complete mess and thought we were calling in a professional crew- they were anything but.Roto-Rooter

2 starsI accidentally hit my water line going into the house. I had to shut off the water at the curb. Called RR and was quoted a 4 hour window. Close to the 4 hour a Vietnamese? tech came out. I told him I wanted the shut off valve replaced as well as replumbling a 2 foot pvc line. He went to his truck and came back with a $780 qoute. OUCH!! The water was shut off to the house and I had to accept "under protest". He was done in under 2 hours. I believe a 400-500 dollar price is more appropriate since it was on a Saturday! GOUGING!! 1 starReceived an email from Roto-Rooter containing a $200 off coupon. I had them come out to perform a service but was told that they would not honor the coupon. They claimed that it was not sent from them. I forwarded the email to their office, and after a day, they replied that the phone number and email address used were not correct. However, I had used that same phone number to contact them, so it was legit. Also the email address is the same address I receive all correspondence from them. In fact it was the same address they used to confirm my appointment and the send me a thank you email. After I pointed this out to them, I never heard back.
There were no "clickable" links in the email, so I don't think it was a scam. Further, what type of scammer sets out to make money for Roto-Rooter?
