I have been a drop member since 2018. Redeeming my points used to be easy. As of 2023 when they changed the way they allow us to redeem gift cards, I have been unable to redeem any of my points. I currently have over $150 in points to redeem and each week I am told the gift cards are sold out, even when Im logged in and ready to redeem. I can pick any value and any gift card and I never am able to redeem my points. I have reached out to customer service and am told to log on every Thursday at 1pm. Well I do and cant even get $5 to redeem! This is a scam now as they dont allow individuals to redeem points yet they continue to advertise to people about the app and it is false advertising!Initial Complaint

The app requests access to the participant's bank account to track spending in exchange for rewards via gift cards. Since their changes this year, the gift cards are impossible to access, saying that they are sold out despite several minutes (up to 30 minutes of staying on a wait cycle.Initial Complaint

I have been using this app for years, and I have nearly ******* points. The app does not allow you to redeem gift cards. I'm not even sure how much my points are worth, but I haven't been able to redeem even $25.This is scammy behavior, as users are promised gift cards for their data.Customer Answer

I have been using this app for years.I attempted to redeem the points I earned in exchange for my personal information multiple times for a year at least. This first attempt was months before the app changed its redemption terms.They never helped me resolve the redemption, but the terms in place at that time should still apply. Since changing their terms after my purchase or redemption, they state they only allow you to redeem gift cards at a very specific time, to the minute, once a week. In addition to it being impossible to redeem, they are always sold out within a minute of. I dont believe they issue weekly gift cards, and Id like help with my redemption I requested prior to their change of terms. This site is a scam stealing personal information with no exchangenot agreeing to the terms after a year. There is also no real human behind their customer service team its just robots with repetitive messaging.I have attached a message as an example of how long its been.Please advise, thank you.Customer Answer

I have kept trying many times over the past Thursdays at exactly 5 minutes before 1:00 PM EST to redeem a gift card. I have been unsuccessful each and every time. I can get to the first screen but once I pick a card to redeem, it just gets stuck at "checking inventory" before eventually failing.I believe the time is now for a better redemption system. I should not have to compete with a bunch of other users for limited slots to redeem my own hard earned cashback.I refuse to allow them to continue making money off me (via my credit card data) without compensating me. Drop is essentially stealing data by not upholding their end of the trade (data for gift cards). They will continue to profit off of everyone for absolutely nothing in return, giving user data to big corporations who are paying them for it, while users get no cut of the deal Either compensate me fairly for my data or just pay out what I've earned so far and close my account.Customer Answer

Drop retroactively changed their terms of service in 2023, making it such that users like myself can no longer redeem their accrued points for giftcards. They have done this in several ways 1) they canceled pending giftcards that consumers already purchased, prior to T&C changes 2) they (supposedly) limit the number of giftcards that can be redeemed on a weekly basis-- this is dubious, as despite dozens of attempts at redemption by myself and hundreds of others, no person has been able to redeem points for a giftcard 3) further, they fail to respond to customer service inquiries and complaints (have emailed 3x in the past 2 weeks with zero response, and have been emailing for months) 4) from a quick scan of internet forums, it seems that no user has been able to redeem points for over a year now, and reviews on the app store also support this To clarify, these points are not rewards-- Drop is like Rakuten or Ibotta, which promises compensation for shopping using their platform. This company operates a predatory application which is designed to take user data without compensation. It promises the user to earn points which can be redeemed, but the redemption process is impossible. Ive not been able to properly use it for years now. I give them my credit card purchase history in exchange for points which can be redeemed for gift cards. They changed their policy a year ago and points are now nearly impossible to redeem. I have nearly $100 worth of points that I cannot redeem unless I get lucky and login to the app at exactly noon on Thursdays. Prior to the change in the redemption process, I could login any time to redeem points. I have had the app Drop for years and by collecting my spend data, i have accumulated over 650K points from my spend and activating deals. But changes to how the points are redeemed happened over a year ago and it makes it almost literally impossible to redeem for rewards. The window to choose a low value gift card is only open at 1 pm EST each week and you are fighting an overloaded server and all other users, so even if you press "redeem" on the first button the moment it becomes available - you may not even get one due to the servers overloading and competition. It is virtually impossible to redeem anything on this, all while they take and sell your data. They took a trusted app and made it into a scam stealing data without anything back.Customer Answer
