Drop is clearly a Ponzi scheme ever since the crypto bear market. After they likely lost money gambling, they froze everyones money in their accounts and then a few months later, allowed maybe $500 total of cashouts per week or thats at least what they claim. I personally have never been able to cashout and have yet to meet anyone who has successfully cashed out. Thats $250 of mine locked up on their app that I earned years ago in 2020 and put into their crypto points, which they unsurprisingly didnt care about when I was down 70%, but when the market recovered, they took it all away and gave me back my original amount, so I held the crypto for 3 years instead of cashing out for nothing. Anyways, Drop is a DATA PONZI SCHEME. They ran a fair business model originally, gaining lots of users. A lot of those users wont remove their credit card/phone number/email and information from the app even though the app refuses to pay them. Now they dont have to pay customers at all, but continue to make hefty sums selling our data and advertising for businesses through slimy marketing. They can offer hundreds of thousands of points for offers because they know nobody will be able to cash it out and it still entices customers because maybe one day they think they will be able to. The weekly gift cards, if they are real, reinforce my opinion that Drop is a ponzi even more. They are making good profits and paying out a tiny percentage back to investors (the people who share their data for incentives). All thats changed it that Drop is keeping more revenue from our data and distributing significantly less, if at all.Initial Complaint

I've tried for over a year now in an endless number of ways to redeem the over ******* points (worth $167+ in dollars) on my account for a gift card and have been unable to. My methods have including logging in to my Drop account up to 30 minutes before the 1 PM gift card "drop time", upgrading my Internet speed, re-downloading the app, trying to do the process on a different phone, closing and refreshing the app, opening the app right before 1 PM, opening the app at 1:01 PM, opening the app at 12 PM and refreshing the page until the 1 PM drop, etc. And still no luck redeeming a gift card. I have submitted service tickets with their helpdesk only to receive a generic response that gift cards are limited and to try to log on before 1 PM to get one. I would like to be issued a gift card to any of their vendors in the amount of my points (167, 314 as of Feb 27, 2025).Customer Answer

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Drop Technologies USA Inc. regarding complaint ID ********, however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
Drop customer service simply responded to my detailed narrative about the lack of ability to redeem a gift card drop, despite the multiple ways and multiple months Ive been attempting it with the same generic message about needing to be on the app at the right time of the gift card drop. No resolution has been provided.
In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely,

I have been a user of drop for 5+ years and since they have changed the redemption rules for gift cards I have not been able to redeem any of my points. I am entitled to over $80 in gift cards and have been for almost 2 years but am unsuccessful every Thursday at 1pm EST in redeeming. I do exactly as the app states and get into the queue 5 mins early and click into the gift card as soon as it opens in the app but every time it shows the gift cards have been sold out. This is app is deceiving all its users by telling them they have points that they cannot actually redeem. They get people to sign up and shop through their links and link bank information but do not follow through on the guarantee of point redemption. I have reached out tot heir customer support multiple times only to be told that I have to continue to log into the app at exactly 12:55 on Thursday EST to have a chance at the very few gift cards. Warning to others, this company is a scam and should be help accountable.Customer Answer

I have signed up with drop and linked my credit cards to earn reward points. I have yet to ever be able to redeem these reward points for anything. This company drops the gift cards once a week at 1PM Eastern Standard time and each time I have attempted to redeem my phone locks up , or gets stuck on a claiming reward screen. For example I logged on today 2-13-25 at 1:00 and got in, picked a gift card to redeem and now 27 minutes later my phone is still stuck on a claiming gift card. I have been using this app for quite some time and have never been able to redeem points so they have been essentially stealing my data and not given me the rewards that I have earned by participating in their program. This company appears to be misleading its user-base and holding their earned rewards hostage, while selling all of their financial data. To my current understanding, they do not post evidence or proof of releasing any gift cards. They appear to be scamming due to the experiences of many of their users that have posted online (myself included) and the lack of evidence of gift card releases despite appearing to say they are giving millions away. You consent to give them your data to sell and they make it extremely difficult (or impossible for a lot of users) to redeem rewards via gift cards.I believe further investigation into this companies business practices is warranted. As with most rewards apps the process of redeeming points needs to be changed and this companies finances should be investigated. Thanks,******* *****- Drop App UserCustomer Answer

I gave them my personal data (bank and credit card info) with the promise that they will pay me in gift cards. However, they made a new rule where they claim to have a limited amount of gift cards that they can let me redeem; when I tried to redeem a gift card they claim to be out of stock. This scam has been going for the past 12 months and I think its time to get the law involved. We need to make them an example of what happens when you scam the majority of its user base, so no other company will try and follow in their footsteps. Please sue them if possible. I will let you keep all the settlement money. I dont even care about money at this point, I just care about bringing them to justice.Customer Answer

Drop advertises providing consumers with gift cards for points earned by allowing the app to track purchases. I have had enough points to redeem for a gift card for months, but every time I have tried to do so, the app has stated they are out of gift cards until the next Thu at 12pm. I just tried today within an hour of their stated time and was still unsuccessful.Customer Answer

I have been using the Drop app since 2021. Initially, it was so easy to redeem our points for gift cards and I successfully was able to redeem about $100 before the chaos started. They first announced that it takes up to 3 months to redeem gift cards. I waited 3+ months and didn't receive a gift card. I reached out to the customer support and they told me to wait longer as they are working on it. Finally, they sent out an email saying that from now on, customers have to log in to the drop app at exactly 1 PM EST only on Thursdays to redeem their points for a gift card up to $25. Since September 2023, I have only been able to redeem my points 6 times. I still have about ******* points equivalent to $177 that I cannot redeem. I haven't been able to redeem anything since August 2024 and I attempt to redeem my points almost every Thursday. This is so time-consuming and feels illegal! They are stealing people's information and making money from brand deals but not allowing us to redeem our points. I have spent hours on this app playing games and now, all that time and energy is gone!Initial Complaint

I have used this app for many, many years and it was always rather difficult to redeem points for a gift card however now it is impossible because they have locked my account. When I inquired further, they states it was due to suspicious spending. Hmmmmm. If that was the case, I would definitely close my credit card accounts and they are offering me no solution to re-activate my account. I believe it is because I have the equivalent to $1,522 to redeem in gift cards available and they do not want me redeeming. Although it seems impossible to redeem anyway (even prior to them locking my account). This website/app is a fraud and they should be shut down immediately. Not to mention they are still using my activity even though I removed my credit card and my account is on hold.Initial Complaint

I have been trying to g to redeem earned point with no success for at least a year. Drop gains access to my purchases and any other information they can gain without doing their part by allowing redemption on the earned points. The gift cards are always sold out no matter how quickly you select a card.Initial Complaint
