I had an inquiry about an Amazon mix up and the virtual person sent me to the site askcrew.com I thought I was still in Amazon. The site said there was a $46 service charge but just a formality and it would be returned. I was scammed. I now keep getting $46 automatically taken out of my account monthly. Since I am 84, a new widow and not in good health it is hard to go to the bank and get everything changed and all my electric bills etc. notified. What can I do? Thank you.Business Response

I went online seeking a copy of information and receipts from my credit card company to clarify charges. The Ask-Crew website came up in response to my online search looking very much like my Upgrade card site (similar colors, layout). In response to the popup, I relayed that I was seeking to get information regarding charges. The site asked me for a $1 which although strange, I paid. The information provided was obviously an AI chatbot and did not resolve of even address my specific concerns. Just general info about credit card transactions. Then I got a bank statement showing I was charged $46 for a membership with reoccurring billing! I did not agree to this and in attempt to cancel received an email with the web address xxxx out! On June 10, 2024, I searched on-line for the Amazon customer service. When I saw the "Amazon ********************* I thought I had reached customer service... but that was not the case. A guy from Ask-Crew said that they would charge $1.00 which was totally refundable so I agreed, thinking this was a new procedure with Amazon. He told me to click on a bar to continue and wait 2 minutes. While I was waiting, I checked out my PayPal account to see if the $1.00 had gone through and saw that he had already taken another $46.00 from my account! I immediately tried to stop PayPal but could only refute the claim, even though it was an immediate response. Ask-Crew said it was understood that when I paid $1.00 that I had signed up for a monthly subscription. Obviously, I had not that understanding at all. I was able to cancel the monthly subscription but they kept my $46.00. This all happened with 5 minutes... I didn't use the so-called service at all, but they would not refund the money. The guy allowed me to think I was talking to an Amazon representative. After reading reviews about Ask-Crew, it is apparent that they have done this to many others. This is morally wrong and someone should make them be more clear and obvious with their business practices and not use tricks to get money out of people. They are a fraud. I was hustled to them from another site, not knowing they were a separate entity. I called ****** to get a charge taken off for hulu..I was directed to to an app specifically saying for $1.00 askcrew will tell you how to do it.i jumped on there chat and the guy told me what I already knew to get my $17.99 back from Hulu. I was trying to unsubscribe from something else and got this company by mistake not knowing it was a scam. On 6/3/24 I was attempting to contact Garmin to determine whether a unit I purchased through a third-party vendor, salmoncandy.com, had been shipped, as I never received it. Ask-Crew popped up. I assumed it was a customer service vendor for Garmin. A charge of $1, to be refunded, was assessed at the beginning of a chat session. I paid via PayPal. The person on the chat was not able to answer my question. I asked repeatedly for a phone call or number I could call to better describe my concern. Number not given and person on the chat did not know how to respond to my concern. We terminated the chat without resolution. Now I find I was charged an additional $46 for a subscription I do not want or need. Please refund $47, as the service is entirely unsatisfactory and I have no intention of using it in the future.Business Response
