1 starThe service has been getting worse and worse. They have increased my bill by $20 every other month since last summer. Everyone in my neighborhood is charged a different amount for the same service! I called to get my bill reduced and they went back to what I was paying a month ago -- which was a 75% increase from last summer! I got a different provider today and when I called Astound to cancel they told me they can't shut my service down for a month so I have to pay for a month when I am not using the service. That they are no longer offering "prorated service," meaning this is a policy choice of theirs to steal my money. I mean, no surprise since the company could care less about customers.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

1 starI wanted to write to Astound management but turns out they have no mechanism for customers to write general complaints. So I am left with no way to communicate with Astound management other than a BBB review. I have been a customer of the same ******************** provider for 12 years. First it was Broadstripe, then **************** Broadband, then bought by Astound/RCN. I had a continual business relationship for internet through all those owners. Since Astound got involved, I have had my monthly payment raised like 10 times. Most times I call and complain, and they give me some kind of temporary discount (only they don't tell me it is temporary--I only find that out when I call to inquire after the next price increase). Meanwhile, they are advertising $20 for 300mbs for NEW CUSTOMERS on their web page. For me, a loyal 12 year customer, it goes like this: I pay 49 for a while, then it flips up to $75 or so, then I call and complain and it comes down to 39 for a few months, then flips up to the $70s again. This has been going on for a couple of years. When I ask about the $20/mo: "Oh, that's only for NEW customers.". My question for them, which they decline to answer is: What about rewarding 12 year loyal customers? instead of punishing loyalty with constant significant price increases requiring regular calls to complain?" No answer on that, of course. So my advice for anyone looking at RCN/Astound: sign up for their service for NEW customers, and as soon as you show any loyalty by sticking around, they will start upping your price. At that point, find a new service provider, as all the company's care about in this day and age is NEW CUSTOMERS, not LOYAL customers.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

1 starCrapiest internet I've ever had!! I BELIEVE DIAL UP INTERNET IS FASTER..So as soon as they start advertising you can pay more to not have disruption in service if power is still on but service isnt, I get nothing but problems. I think they set people up and forcing us to pay more. I hate this company more than Xfinity and never thought thar could happen! Unfortunately I have no choice where I'm located!! AS SOON AS ANOTHER SERVICE STARTS IN THIS AREA, I WILL SWITCH!!! SO for months now, I've had my modem switched and techs to my home but for some idiotic reason(them), my internet keeps shutting off, on, off, on, etc.. They don't do any credit for inconvenience or anything like that. The next time I call and hear some moron tell me they treat their customers great, I don't know what I'll do!!! 1 starI signed up March 2024 for their 20 dollar per month Internet package special.It's 30 dollars per month regular and in order to get the 20 per month, you sign up for automatic billing and it must come directly out of bank account.Well first and second bill where much higher.Had 3 different Astound agents insist it was 30 a month plus ***** tax for a charge of 42 and change. They never counted the 10 dollars off for auto billing. I have the ad they run for months and glad to share with anyone. Also in the ad, you get one months free. Two of the agents disagreed with that.Why wouldn't they know their own ad. It makes me think of " Bate and Switch". The second and 3rd agent were called on different days then 1st agent. Third agent was called half hour after 2nd. You know they are in same room. We told 3rd that 2nd insisted it was 42 and change. How can they be in same room working for same company. The 3rd agent did not admit it was 32 and change until I asked to explain who gets the 20 dollar per month!!?It's 30 minus 10 credit for auto billing. Then the 12 dollars plus in tax and charges. Guess they hope people don't read small print. Matter of fact, you only get 5 off per month with auto pay if you use a credit card. See I can read small print. How do people close their eyes at night. Let's be real, you hear of stories people have experienced this kind of situation with many cable company specials through the country. Ridiculous you have to argue their special deals. How can different agents in same company have different reasoning?! Don't they all go to the same discount seminars? It got me so mad, that people dealing with all this inflation, have to confront this kind of situation. It made me take time and put it on paper. 2 starsIve been forced by my apartment complex to have RCN internet for the 3 years that Ive been a tenant. In those 3 years, Ive had to have RCN come out several times due to issues with the internet but the real kicker is that now that I have to cancel service (due to moving and RCN not being available in new state), I am being told that even though Im only using 12 days worth of service this last month, Ill have to pay for service an additional 19 days even though my apartment will be vacant and the service is not usable. This is apparently based on their new policy. In my opinion, that is extremely unfair. If youre thinking of getting RCN, do yourself a favor and dont.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

1 starThis company will essentially hold you financially hostage and force you to pay excess bills. The service is poor and then charge you to come have them fix wiring that is owned by them on the telephone poles.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

3 starsI have had the Internet service for several years and reduced the cost by using my own Modem and Router. I reduced service to 300 mbs to save money and have had good service since and had been paying a reasonable price of just under $60. Now overnight it goes up to $78 a 30% increase and without warning. This is an obscene increase. It would be obscene even back in the 80's with 17% mortgage rates. I wouldn't even bother with a 5-10% increase in the monthly rate but 30% is not even close to current economic conditions.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

1 starToday, Astound Internet service was down for a complete day and since I work from home, It impacted my daily earnings. Astound DID NOT send any communication regarding this internet outage. Worse, they do not have an ETA yet. and the outage is still active without any information on when it is going to be resolved. Here is a challenge for Astound. If you want to retain customers after this terrible service, provide a letter explaining the customers what happened, why the communication was broken down where the customers were not contacted to let them know about the outage, why astound is not able to provide an ETA and the phone keeps pushing the expected resolution. It was 1pm CST in the morning, which became 11:59pm CST in the afternoon and now it's 1:30 am CST next day. Of course, when you finally get resolved, you may want to give credits to your customer for the lost damages. I have contact customer service and have them put a note on my account. Also, provide me 1 good reason on why I should continue with you guys after this lack of service.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

Repairing severed fiber is an extremely delicate and time consuming processes, but our techs worked tirelessly from the time we had access to the damaged cable until the outage was fully resolved. 1 starI will never do business with astound. The billing is never accurate. They have a promotion where its 100 for internet and basic cable. I only got charged accurately one month out of the 5 months I had them. The correct month my internet charge was 65 dollars this after complaining that Im not being charged right. The following months it jumped to 200 for one gig. And then I requested services to be transferred to my new address they said my new address wasnt serviceable. One month later I get a charge for 258 and when I reached out to them they said its cause I didnt disconnect the service although they are aware that I moved. I spoke to the agent for *************************************************************************************************************************************** we wont. No only did he disconnect the service but he was able to give me a final bill but at the old address when I gave him the new address he was using exclamation points in the chat at me because he had already sent it to the old address without my permission. So I know they able to disconnect without me physically saying the words especially if I told them I moved and the address I moved to they told me that they cant service it. He said he couldnt provide me a copy with the policy. Refused to let me talk to a manager and said he is more than capable to help me with my concerns.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

1 starZero stars if I could. Literal trash service, I consistently get less than 100 MBs despite paying for 300MBs at an astronomical price of $65 per month.
