      This company is not transparent about their fees. I used Astound because it was the only internet provider available in my unit. I noticed my bills had multiple hidden fees that fluctuated throughout the year. Before I ended the service I called their customer service line and asked them about returning the equipment and they were not transparent about their process. I was hit with a bill that was nearly over $700. When I called and told them that I returned the equipment and it was signed for by someone at their company they told me to wait 10 days for it to reflect on my bill. When I asked them to explain the charge that did not include the equipment, they did not provide context and told me to look at the bill statement which, again, does not provide any details. I would like a proper breakdown for what I am paying for.

      One of the worst companies *** ever dealt with. Started with a price lock guarantee for one year that lasted less than four months. Promised me through a gift card as a customer and never received it. When I reached out to the company on multiplications, they pass the book and kept telling me it would be dealt with first from the gift card department.(they dont have one.) most recently from the gift card company directly. Best part is theres no way for me to actually contact them. When I told them I would reach out to BBB , their response was Oh No. this company does anything to get the sale they lie and should not be trusted.

      Wish I could give 0 stars. Have been a customer since they bought out WOW in our area 2-3 years ago. Our price has gone up at least 50% in that time and that's surprisingly the least of my concerns. I was experiencing Internet disruptions through their cable service in home. It was getting progressively worse so I called for service. Was told that the modem/router was bad and it was replaced. Worked better for a month and then the disruptions began happening again, getting progressively worse. Another service call resulted in yet another new modem as the fix. This did not resolve the problem at all and it continued to get worse. Fast forward a few days they send out a technician who determines it's the cable line from the transfer in the back to the inside of our house. New cable run, same symptoms. Not to mention the contractors they hired to bury the cable killed several plans in our garden and did not even run the cable under our chain link fence. The cable is currently run underground to the fence, pops up and goes through the chain link, then goes back underground. It's comical. I cancelled my service yesterday and the problems have been worse than ever before. This is not paranoia at all; I work in tech from home and know the frequency of these disruptions are caused by the cable provider itself. I'll be extremely glad when I can finally sever my relationship with this company for good.Go with Astound if you:1. Want your rate increased for no reason 2. Poor quality of deliverable service 3. Unprofessional installers You could be the next lucky guest to win the trifecta of incompetence. Should have seen it coming a mile away. No business that gobbles up smaller competitors EVER has anything good coming for the consumer- only themselves.

      I'm a senior citizen, I signed up for Astound when my other internet service shut down. I though I had a good deal. I'm on Social Security and it was in my price range. After a couple of years my monthly charge shot up 50% and service started getting very erratic. I called and asked why and get these lame excuses about the cost of wiring, cable, etc the usual excuses I never heard from my previous internet provider. Plus they have NO senior plan. Doesn't help to call as you get some foreign robot making excuses that you can't understand. For what I pay and the service I get is horriblehirribke. I would not recommend this to anyone. I am currently looking for another internet provider that is reasonable for the very small amounts of internet I need...A landline and an Amazon Fire is all I use, and my payments have doubled. Very poor business, and internet provider, they could do better for seniors in these times. Shop around for something better.

      They increased my rate 30% every six months in the past 12 months. Charged various fees arbitrarily with no explanation, just a fee name. Held my credit card information which I could not cancel so they could increase the price and charge me as they like. Terrible customer service. I waited one hour on the phone to cancel my internet with them. Still charged one month after the cancellation. I saw a lot of 1 star reviews of this company recently. Dont use them. I switched to my cell phone company internet, and saved 60% of money.

      I was a 19 year old customer with ********************** and it was a complete nightmare to close my account. I was put on hold several times and then disconnected after 30 plus minutes on hold. I finally got feed up and went to the customer service location in *********, **. The *** was rude and didn't want to be bothered with. This is how you treat a customer after 19 years. I would never come back to RCN after this kind of treatment. I hope the entire ************* switches to ******** and ******* for internet service.

      RCN/Astound promised me prorated billing at the end of my service. They refused to honor their promise at the end of my service, and is insisting that they can change their policy without telling me and without giving me a chance to approve or reject changes.

      Website is very deceptive, doesn't give all choices for internet only plans and pricing available in-service area requested. It only gives you 2 choices to choose from with order only options. To get a phone number to call them you have to ****** that information separately which gives several and all are directed to the same phone bank. When you call any of those numbers you get 2 choices to order new home or business service. No sales help choice. When you ask for new home service, you get a representative who asks a dozen questions that must be answered before they can assist you. Like your full name and your phone number before they can or will assist you. Why is this even necessary when you are only shopping rates? When all I am asking for is for pricing information that fits my budget as well as my computer needs that is nowhere to be found on the website for my needs. Representative does not listen. I get that they are salespeople. After arguing with them for several minutes to get them to understand regarding my needs only and becoming very flustered somehow after all of that they try to assist in getting you different deal very poorly. When you hang up, they call you back. I guess there expecting you to answer and now will try to make whatever sale they can at this point. Maybe they will understand and meet your needs if I would have answered. Most all internet providers have services and prices easy to navigate on their websites. Seems like this a bait and switch operation and just a very shady business.

      Astound's internet service was reliable while I was a customer, but the cancellation experience was frustrating. When I called to cancel due to a price increase, I gave a specific disconnection date four days later. I was not told that cancellations could only happen at the end of the billing cycle.When I called back to confirm, I was suddenly informed of this policy, leaving me stuck paying for two internet services. Had I been clearly informed from the start, I could have planned accordingly.The lack of transparency and empathy from customer service was disappointing. Customers deserve clear communication, especially when it comes to billing. The service itself was solid, but this experience left a bad impression.
