1 starDO NOT RENT AVIS! They have been a nightmare to deal with and their customer service is a disgrace. Between being passed around between departments, reps over promising and under delivering (or lack of delivering anything) and their inability to get anything done, my rental reservation is still open and not checked-in going on over 4 weeks. Do yourself a favor and avoid using them to avoid stress, worry and anxiety.Avis Rent A Car

1 starBetter business bureau does nothing to help. They send forms to sign through email. If I had access to a printer is would've just mailed my complaint in the first place. Make sure you have hours and days to spend jumping through hoops just to get heard. This place is more disgusting than the companies we come to them to get resolution from.Review fromNancy Z.

1 starCase # ******** - we have numerous items we left in the spare tire compartment of a car, trying to claim these items is basically impossible. The Website says for you to come to their desk in when you live out of state that's impossible. Have called the number on the website and left numerous messages with no one returning calls. Have sent emails and received automated replies. It just amazes me when you know exactly where you left something they won't look for it. And when you find an item on their website that matches your missing items you have no way to claim it.Avis Rent A Car

1 starThey gave me a rental . That had bald tires when I first drove it the brakes and tires were making loud noise. I turned around went back in to Avis . Told the guy who gave me the key what it was doing he said it's been sitting for awhile you just have to work it in. I left I had to take my husband to his chemotherapy and radiation therapy appointments. The guy never even came out to show me the car or to look it over. I did call and complain numours times and got no where . The first night I drove the car it was a snow storm the dashboard lit up with all warning lights saying camera assistance is off . The car pulled me all over the road . I don't know how this unsafe car is allowed to be used as a rental. I finally did make it back the car sat at market 32 in Rome ny until Tuesday when they sent a tow truck to pick this vehicle up. I rented it on 3/3 2023 for a week it sat till 3/14/23. When a tow truck finally picked it up. Then I called Avis again to complain about this vehicle. They said I would get a full refund due to mechanical errors. Received a confirmation number for full refund ********. . Then they checked the rental in 2 days after tow truck pick up. Sent me a bill for 830.72 . I called and said I get a full refund. Was told they denied the full refund. And could only take off 250.00 dollars. I asked for a manager left a message have not got a call back or a response from Avis. I was in fear of mine and my family's life when we drove this vehicle. Never again will I go thru this business.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI rented a vehicle from AVIS at the Sanford/Orlando airport in March of 2023. After returning home I discovered that my credit card had been charged an extra $294 above and beyond the agreement that I had for the week long car rental. I also received an email from AVIS with the new total charge with no explanation for the increase. I called AVIS customer support to ask what was going on and was told that it was for a $250 "cleaning fee" plus taxes for a total of $294 as an upcharge because there was some beach sand in the car. Yes, we did stop by the beach and there was some beach sand residual that was tracked into the car from our sandals. This has happened on numerous occasions when visiting Florida thru the last several years (decades) and I have never, ever had an upcharge from a rental car company. Vacuuming and running the rental vehicle thru a car wash (upon return) had always been part of the base charge. After a lengthy and tense phone call with an AVIS rep, he at last agreed to remove this cleaning fee. I should not have needed to have such a phone call.Avis Rent A Car

1 starVery very bad rental car company. The worst one in the whole world.
One time I use to have reservations withe them I use to come at time , they said it’s right you have a reservation but we don’t have a car .
Yesterday I have a reservation, I Com at the time they was closed, they changed the reservation for today, I’m coming again today and they are closed. They give me reservations for tomorrow. Spent the money and lose the time because Avis have a bad working team and very bad management.

1 starI had a HORRIBLE experience at the Cleveland, OH Airport location. First, I had a mid size pickup reserved, but due to a flight delay, I missed my initial connection flight and had a 5 hour layover. No big deal, I thought, because my rental was prepaid and I'm a preferred member. Let me tell you how wrong I was. Apparently, after 2hrs beyond the projected pickup time, they release the vehicle and you're at their mercy. When I get to the airport, I check my app and see the issue. The app gave me the option to select a new vehicle. So, I did. The only option was a full-size pickup. After arriving at my hotel, I check the app and realize that I was charged for it as well. NOW, I also have a $100 charge for fuel because there was apparently a glitch with the app. The truck averaged almost 19mpg. I put just under 200 miles on it. I put $33 @$3.109/gal in it 6 miles from the rental facility. So, I paid almost $250 extra because of a vehicle shortage and a false fuel reading.
I called the Avis Customer Service number. I spoke with the representative ,Jesus, about my issue. After arguing with me about why I was obligated to pay for fuel @$9.99/gallon, though it would be impossible to put any fuel in the truck. The vehicle was a 2023 Ford F-150. Avis listed it as a 36gal tank. The issue, it's not available with a 36gal tank. It has a 26 gallon tank. Finally, Jesus gave in and said he'd refund the $100 fuel charges.
I told him that was great, but how many people have paid thousands of dollars and not realized it. He said to send in a customer feedback form. I told him I had already done that but it clearly states they will not contact the person submitting the feedback. Seems kind of pointless.
AVIS, good luck. I don't know how long it will be but I'm sure someone will get fed up and start a class action.Timothy H

*********** was my original reservation. I was told it was canceled because I was more than 2 hours late from my original pickup time. I had a credit when I had to make a new reservation request. The fuel refund was only given because I argued with the representative about the fuel tank size. He kept insisting I didn't fill the tank. The bigger issue is the incorrect fuel tank size on the 2023 F-150. I asked Jesus if he could pass on the information and I was told I had to call back and talk to the correct customer service representatives. So, in summary, my issue was not and is not resolved. The cost was $126.61 higher and the rental period was 1 day shorter. I definitely did not pay the same rate. I have emails to backup my claim.Avis Rent A Car

1 starI wish I could them a zero. I had a 1 week rental car. Day 1- the car will not start. I call roadside assistance. They state they are sending a tow truck and that they will arrange an Uber for me. They tell me to leave the keys under the front seat mat. The Uber is to take me back to the airport to get a new rental car. The Uber arrives and takes me to the airport. The towtruck service is very busy. They will not arrive for 4-5 hours. It is around 8:30 pm when the first call is made. I go to the airport. I"m unable to get a new car because the old car has not been returned. I take a taxi back to my hotel - it is $55.00. The tow truck driver arrives at the parking garage where I left the car around 1 pm in the morning. He is unable to find the car. He leaves without towing the car and closes the service. On Thrusday, I try to ensure that I'm not getting charged for the car and find out that the road side assistance was closed and the car was not picked up. A new roadside service is requested. It is now Friday-- I have spoken to over 20 different representatives with no resolution. I don't know if the car has been picked up, if my bill has been adjusted..... nothing!!! I don't know if I should call the police regarding a stollen car or what. Terrible - worst experience!Avis Rent A Car

1 starI rented a car online for pick up at Phoenix airport. I was quoted a total for 4.5 days of $300.33 with unlimited mileage. I declined all the add-ons, and returned it full of gas so the bill should have been accurate. When I got to the airport, they didn't have the car I reserved, so they offered me another car at no extra cost. I then signed on an electronic pad, but was not shown any changes to my original price. When I returned the car, they sent me an email invoice for over $1300. I called to find out what changed, and was told that since I took a different car (what choice did I have?) that the original contract was voided, so instead of $24.50 per day to $192 per day. I would NEVER had agreed to that! I was also told they would refund $1000 to make it right. The did not refund $1000, they charged me $1080 total. I called again, and got a very rude "customer service" agent who basically called me a liar and hung up on me. I am disputing the charge through my credit card company. Avis lied to me, they pulled a bait and switch, and they have the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I would give a zero star review if possible, and I will warn anyone I know to stay away from this criminal enterprise.Avis Rent A Car
