      They charge more per day than what you are told and continue to run credit cards until they get what they want. I had to cancel my credit card just to put a stop to it. I have been a preferred member for 2 years and every time I use Avis at ********** ****** airport it has been a disaster!
      We have moved our corporate account to Hertz and Enterprise and no problems! Just terrible all the way around, especially customer service!!!

      Avis does not wish to deceive anyone we do our best to make sure that all pertinent information is made available to our customer within the terms and conditions of the rental contract. Our records show that your original reservation was booked for 3 days with a weekend special. As this rate only applied to the weekend time frame, we did print the additional day rate on the agreement provided at the start of the rental so you would have it in the event you choose to keep the vehicle longer. Additionally, we show that each time the rental was extended you were provided with an updated estimated total for the new rental length which had to be agreed to in order for us to process the extend request.

      I reserved a 12 passenger van on February 2023 confirmation number ***********. The reservation was for pickup on April 7, 2023 at 10am. On the morning of April 7 I called the pickup location to confirm the vehicle was ready for pickup and I was told that they could not find my reservation, nor did they have my 12 passenger van available. I was then instructed to contact the 1800 number to see if they could locate my reservation, after contacting the 1800 they were unable to locate my reservation and offered me a new rental for an 8 passenger van. He suggested that I prepay to guarantee my rental would be available. I gave him my credit card information and received a new confirmation number for pickup at the same location. Within 5 minutes the local store called me to tell me that they had seen my new reservation but informed me that they did not have any cars available for pickup and that I would need to contact the 1800 number again. Once calling the 1800 number again he transferred my reservation to the Downtown location and assured me that they had an 8-passenger rental vehicle available for pickup. I proceeded to drive 30 miles to pick up the vehicle. I was about 2 miles away from the location and received a call that they also saw my new reservation and that they did not have any cars available. I was told to contact the 1800 number again and they tried to send me to another location but I refused because my schedule did not permit me running around time on a wild goose chase looking for vehicles that they did not have so I requested a refund. This place is awful, don't make plans using this company because they will ruin them.

      I am an Avis Preferred customer and have been renting exclusively with Avis over the past several years. My last experience with Avis at the Kona Airport has me questioning their tactics as deceptive at best and a scam at worst. I rented a car from 3/11/23 to 3/19/23 (******** *** at the Kona Airport. Upon return, the rep said to me that everything was good and I went on my way. I did not observe anything that required cleaning. Two weeks later, I received a letter in the mail indicating that I would be charged $250 for excessive interior sand. I have not received any evidence that supports this claim.
      I've been on many beach vacations with rental cars from other agencies and have never seen such a deceptive practice. Had the rep indicated that there was any issue with cleanliness, I could have very easily visited a gas station to vacuum any excessive sand. The fact that I was given no opportunity to remedy the situation, and that the rep said everything looked good indicates to me that this is a deceptive practice to extract more money from their valued customers.
      Furthermore, my Avis Worldwide Discount included "Cover the Car Loss Damage Waiver - With LDW, avoid paying for damage to our vehicle with no additional out of pocket expense & no increase to your personal policy due to an incident." The letter clearly states that this fee is "In order to recover for the costs associated with this damage, Avis Car Rental will charge the credit or debit card we have on file for $250."
      I was and had intended to continue using Avis exclusively until this happened, I now need to take my rental car business elsewhere unless this is resolved.

      We have checked our records and find that the vehicle was returned full of sand and had to be pulled for extra cleaning before it could be rented again. Based on that we do find the cleaning fee to be valid, we have also emailed you a copy of the pictures provided by the rental counter for your records. Based on our findings we do find the cleaning feel to be valid and do uphold the charge.

      Made a car rental under my name and using my credit card, I got a confirmation email and was asked about adding rewards number. No warnings or disclaimers stating that if you put in a rewards number it would change the reservation automatically. We put in my wifes reward number and it changed the reservation to her name, which typically would not be an issue for our family but I am flying bymyself for a funneral. The only way we knew this happend was an email stating the reservation had been modified. When we called customer service they passed us around and the only solution they had was to cancel our reservation and rebook the rental at double the cost. Their inability to work with customers is disgusting. Dont rent from Avis.

      The service in St. Louis was rude and honestly can’t believe they allow an employee to behave that way. Manager watched the behavior. Racial profiling! Will NEVER NEVER NEVER rent another vehicle from them!!!

      I wish I could give them a zero. Utilizing the FastBreak service, I was under the impression that I would simply pick up my keys from the kiosk and leave. However, the attendant simply saw me approaching and was trying to get as many people away from the desk as possible. We were told there were no cars available, and we’d be waiting for at least 2 hours. My brother-in-law approached the attendant again, and then he magically produced a car. However, he demanded a $250 deposit and would not explain what it was for. I was under the impression he was starting an entirely new rental agreement outside of the one for which I prepaid. However, he would not explain. All he kept saying was “Do you want the car or not?”. I was desperate to get my sick niece out of there so I handed over a credit card under the impression that I was starting a second all-new rental agreement. I then had to call customer service because from the paperwork, I realized it was my original rental agreement. The representative I spoke to easily explained to me that I had to make the $250 deposit which I would get back, and that the first time using FastBreak, I would have to go to the counter in order to sign a master agreement. The attendant never expressed any of this to me, and he also didn’t have me sign anything and his communication skills were completely nonexistent. I also opted out of the daily etoll service but it was charged to me on my agreement anyway. After returning the car, I was charged an additional $336.53 for all the services I opted out of. I am just completely disgusted by this company and the service I received. I warn everyone against using Avis/Budget. It was negative from the very beginning.

      I file complaints with a better business bureau. I went to verify through my email and it said that it expired and it was the wrong address or some c*** And I couldn't seem to get back but obviously I say they have a lot of bad reviews too so that really isn't saying too much. I think people should get a better work ethic like we used to have cuz this is absolutely ridiculous a waste of time. I lost three friends my age **** and 56 life is too short to be d*** and round with this b******* this needs to be

      On 3/26/2023, we rented a full-size vehicle from the Avis at Newport Mall in Jersey City. On our trip we notice that our tire appeared to be very worn. We continued on our journey but attempted to make several phone calls to Avis customer service to arrange tire maintenance or to get a new vehicle. Unfortunately, we were hung up on, transferred more than 3 times, and received no resolution as though your agents had no clue about vehicle safety.
      About 15 miles from our hotel in Washington DC, the driver side rear tire blew out causing my husband to almost lose control of vehicle. That was when we saw the original tires were so worn you could see the metal threads. There is no way this car should have been allowed onto the road.
      After waiting for 2 hours for roadside to never arrive they told us they were going to cancel the service call because they could not service the tires. Customer Service was unhelpful and only offered to send a tow truck to pick up the vehicle which would have left us stranded. Since it was already 10pm and we had already waited over 2 hours for a truck that never showed, we were not interested in waiting for another tow truck. The agent then recommended we call back in the morning to schedule a car trade at a location near our hotel.
      The next day, we made several attempts to reach customer svc to arrange a swap - with NO SUCCESS. An agent even called us about the service call from the night before, but refused to assist us with arranging a new vehicle rather she cold transferred us back into a loop of unhelpfulness. That evening, we took the original rental to the Avis location at Regan Airport. The agents at this location were very apologetic and immediately jumped into action to get us into a new car.
      On 3/29/2023 we returned the rental to the Avis at Newport Mall in Jersey City. The branch manager took no responsibility, shifted blame to the corporate office, and could care less. They sent my family out on the road in a death trap.

      This is by far the worst car rental company I have ever experienced. Picked the car up at the Detroit airport after waiting hours in line, even though we had pre-paid on the app. Then only to receive a vehicle that had the front passenger door side smashed. I went right back in to report this and they told me to go ahead and just take it anyway because it would not compromise the safety of the vehicle and they would deal with it when I got to the Cleveland airport. I did not quite think that sounded professional, so I thankfully took photos immediately and within two minutes of getting the keys had emailed photos to the Avis company, explaining what the agent had told me. Of course no one would answer the phone at that time of day. We drove the car straight to Cleveland and had the car for maybe three hours total. It was close to 3 AM by this point and we returned the vehicle in the Avis parking lot to the Avis attendant. The next week we got a claim that the car was stolen and that we never returned it to Cleveland. I conservatively can say I spent over 19 hours on the phone with this company trying to get this resolved, and finally was told that it was taken care of because there was a GPS tracker in the vehicle and they could see that it was in fact at the Cleveland airport in the Avis parking lot. Three months later I got a claim for the damage to the front passenger side. I had to send the pictures and the email back to the claims adjuster again. This company is the most ridiculous company I’ve ever worked with. DO NOT go with his company.
