      AVIS Car Rental - FINE PRINT - I rented a car from their online site, saving $47 using “pay now". I returned the car - 6 days early. It was fueled and without damage. I received a text message saying the car was accepted and returned. They did refund me the $250 deposit, but I anticipated a pro-rated car rental return. The original cost was $532 for 10 days. It is 8 days since the return, and I am still waiting for the money to be returned to my account. I know they may "adjust" my cost to rent the car for fewer days as per their contract. In doing so, I contacted customer service and was told that "you have not been entitled to a refund because you opted to return the car early and paid the pay now fee." So I asked for a supervisor and was placed on hold for 42 minutes. Once connected I was told I was entitled to a $2.50 refund. They prorated my rental to cost me $529.50 for 4 days of car rental. If I rented that same car today for the same amount of time - it would cost me $321.00.
      I do not usually post my feelings online, nor do I vent online, but in this matter - the true meaning of "buyer beware" is in full effect.
      So - what appears to be a $45 savings by "paying now" ended up costing me $250 or so by returning a car early so they could double dip and just rent out the car again on the dates I already had a hold on the car. Avis gets to charge another customer $250 and then take my $250, thus giving them a $500 profit even though I turned the car in early, with a full gas tank and in excellent condition. My loss - their gain.
      If you do not plan to return a car early or think about turning in a car early, you may want to think twice about using the "PAY NOW" feature. $45 may not be such a savings if you deviate from the plan. They will get you - coming or going - it's the corporate world - not the right thing to do. But that's America.

      Avis does not wish to deceive anyone we do our best to make sure that all pertinent information is made available to our customer within the terms and conditions of the rental. Per the details provided at the time of prepayment we do not issue a refund in the event of an early return. However, as a gesture of Customer Service we have adjusted the rental charges down to the weekly rate and issued a refund of $92.78. Please allow up to 10 business days for this refund to post back to the card on file.

      The worst experience ever. I flew into Tampa International Airport and picked up a rental that I booked. I have private insurance and insurance through my credit card. I am aware that customers can DECLINE insurance from the company. I declined. The man that issued my keys told me that I can not. I told him that I CAN. I told him that I did not want the insurance through Budget and again declined. He went ahead and added the insurance to my rental. I called customer service immediately! I was told that it would be removed after I complained to them. I just received a bill WITH the $111.09 insurance added.
      In addition to adding on insurance I was given the wrong car not once but TWICE. I was traveling with my ten month old baby. Not one person had the decency to help me get my car after they gave me the wrong keys and wrong location of the cars. They even said that they could not upgrade me for the inconvenience. I will never rent from this company again. I also want my money returned to me! Every penny.

      Rented a car from Avis-Denver Airport.
      Dropping in Cheyenne Wyoming.
      Made stops on way to Cheyenne. At store lot decided to look at back of car to be able to identify it when we come out. Had Florida plates and tabs were 2 years expired!
      Decided to get to our destination stop driving it to avoid getting pulled over.
      Dropped it off, told them, they said-no big deal and Avis would pay the ticket!
      1. Being pulled over by the police - no big deal.
      2. Travellers are often on time restraints
      3. I looked online about the rental car company being responsible for the ticket, many people complained that it took a long time before they paid it, or they didn't pay it and it happens to be in the renters name-not Avis company name which can affect renewing your license and also show up that you owe back tickets.

      Tried to call couple days before-didn't realize we were picking up car on Easter Sunday wanted to ensure they were open from 8-9pm like advertised. You CANNOT talk with anyone at the locations, it transfers to an operator and they can't put you thru to a location- which is SUPER inconvenient. Decided to go Sunday night and if not open we'd go back first thing in the morning, when we needed to be leaving town.
      They were open at 8 pm on Easter Sunday. Poor guy seemed frazzled; we were a little late.
      I asked-are tabs current and explained the expired tab scenario and we don't want to deal with that.
      He said tabs aren't part of his job and Avis would pay any fee anyway.
      I told my husband to check when he walked out to the car as I was following in another car. My husband forgot, following him I saw THE TABS WERE EXPIRED! Got his attention-we turned around in less than 5 minutes. The guy was gone, no one was there. We left the vehicle there.
      Came back in AM and they told us to take it anyway!! We said no and were given a car that wasn't cleaned but ok.
      Its OK with AVIS if we get pulled over for expired tabs!

      I had car trouble and they offered to tow the car for free. They sent a third party towing service and I was charged for the service and the service kept the car for 2 days I was charged for the additional days. Plus since I was unable to get gas I was charged $10 a gallon. They hit me for over $800 on my credit card.

      Over $300 a day for a Toyota Rav 4??? I'm not buying the car, just renting it!!
      Picked up in Vancouver, BC on 4/10, dropped off in Portland, Oregon on 4/13 - $1,300.00
      Called customer service 5 times. Got hung up on ALL 5 TIMES!
      got charged $81 fuel charge because i didnt have time to fill it up and I did not prepay, but that doesnt give them the right to take advantage of me when i returned the car with over 3/4 tank. So, 4 gallons of gas cost me $81??
      They did reimburse the fuel charge, but all 5 reps hung up on myself and my boss when we inquired about why the cost was so high....CLICK!!
      This is the last time i will ever use AVIS and I have an email drafted to my companies' corporate people to let them know they really need to reconsider our contract with AVIS.
      I'm also sharing with them the stellar rating AVIS has on the BBB, 1.06/5.00

      If I could give less than 1 star I would.
      I went on the site. Created an account.
      Made a reservation
      Called and confirmed
      Went in and the rep refused to accept my permit
      I'm from Trinidad and Tobago.
      Our permit is not scannable
      I called customer service and was told it is acceptable BUT its at the discretion of the the representative at the desk
      That is insane!!!!!!

      ?????????? to Thanks Ms. Karri, at Avis Rental Car at **** ***** *****, Florida.
      On 4/12/23 my car got totally flooded due the severe rains and it become an emergency for all those people that were driving and unable to come back home due the tremendous flooding into our cars like it happened to me. Next day on 4/13/23,
      I called in to Avis Rental Car and reserve a car. But, when I arrived to the Office to pick up my car, there was a big line of customers that like me needed to rent a car to continue our destinations.
      I got on line behind all those people and the young lady said: “we don’t have more cars available do to the emergency, but please calm down. I will try to accommodate any of you as soon the return cars arrives in. And please, for all those people that are not in one emergency to get a car, please understand our situation and let those people with one emergency situations get their cars”.
      Few people left the line out the door. And I can observed the young woman doing so much paper work and trying to helped any of us, and one by one was getting a car as the cars were returned in. I was the last one waiting on line calmly and patiently, as the young lady had advised us to do so.
      Finally, she called me, and she thanked me saying, “thank you so much for being so patiently, one more car is supposed to be returned in, pleaseI kept waiting”.
      And then, she called me again and she said I have the last car for you. I was so happy to get the nice car and came back home to get some sleep, because the night before on the 4/12/23, I was entrapped into my flooded car with water till the seats label for 8 hours, till the towing truck arrived to rescue me at 5:00 AM.
      Later around I found out that the very professional young lady helping us in this emergency situation, is Ms. Carri the Manager!!
      Ms. Carri, thanks you and I give you extra ??????????…And May All Blessings and Protection of God Be With You and With Your Family ??

      Avis charge customers to clean their cars costing +$400 due to excessive sand in footwell even when you visit somewhere with no sand, when challenged Avis are adamant the charge remains.

      We have checked our records and the pictures provided by the rental counter and found that the cleaning fee is valid based on the condition of the vehicle at the time of return. However, as a gesture of Customer Service we have setup to discount the cleaning fee by 50%. Please allow up to 10 business days from the date of billing to see a refund for half the cleaning fee credited back to the MasterCard ending 6551.

      if i could give them 0 stars i would. employees and manager are rude and micro-aggressive and are okay with being that way because it is hard to get in touch with their corporate office. cutting someone off as they are talking, being impatient with an overall disregard for the customer is still rude even if you believe it is not. any other rental option would be a better place to go to than this one, especially when their office and corporate offices do not communicate with each other to understand what is happening at their local offices. thanks.

      was over crashed $7700 when the rate should have been 4500 they didn't like the colour of my skin they called me robber and said they called the police because I bring car late since my mother had hurt foot and couldnt drive add 3000 bs fees and charged for $1000 for undescribed damage 17.65% Premium Location Surcharge 1009.30
      they acted like I stole the car when my mom couldn't drive it i told call we can set up time i will drive and help u get the keys since they said i couldn't drive only my mom she was hurt they know so they said they called the cops i called in there no reports or anything they just added those bs fees i want a full refund i m have my lawyer drift a paper already i told them i ok with $15 late fee a day which wouldnt total over $230 that was in there policy $15 ,workers would not give me reciept i have record calls they hear my voice they hang up they charged they kept saying it was me but it was my mom who couldnt drive they show up on new years eve at 8 pm to try to take the car no calls nothing i told them listen lets set up u can come take it they hang up and showed randomly on new years eve saying they told the cops the car is stolen they didnt take the car even they came they we have the spare key but we wouldn take it ur getting charged for our time shaddy workers they would hang up and want to talk they would just call me a criminal over charged the **** out of me illegal surcharges i need support vs this shady company. ******* ******* Intl Airport, YYZ was the location it was manger being dis respecful no body helping.
