To whom it may concern,
We are extremely concerned and troubled by the negligence and lack of customer advocacy demonstrated by the New Jersey Ezpass. There were several issues with our account that raised a few red flags in the above mentioned account. We were limited to our ability to make the necessary changes to our online account to update our NEW NJ TAG which was a temporary tag at the time. They system would timeout and refuse to accept any changes to the account. We were forced to change the account and change our method of payment.
Over the past 4 months we have received countless letters, notifications, and legal notices to address each individual. However, EVERY TIME we attempted to follow the process provided (we were denied + blocked + timeout + error messages) to dispute the issue with in the allowed timeframe. During the past 4 months we’ve placed over 50 calls which were placed on hold for 2 hours each time with NO SUCCESS in reach anyone.
I can not believe I am the only one with this issue. There is no place for us to contest these issues or even speak to a live person in a reasonable timeframe. I need your help to the right person.

My ezpass is not recognized and this is 2 months after replacement. The customer ********************** number places me on infinite hold. I use this pass to speed traveling to hospitals. They remain unresponsive.Initial Complaint

I have always paid my ezpass tolls, but for the past year they have been charging a ton of violations for cars that I have on the list giving me an error that this plate cannot be added because it’s already on the list but still giving a violation like the plate is not in list and now I get an email saying none of my tags are being detected. Called them and they leave you on hold for an hour or more so you just give up and pay it. These violations should be removed. They need to send me new tags that are actually working if these are not being detected and they need to get a better system.Initial Complaint

I have been a valid EZ PASS NJ customer since 2009. My credit card was recently hacked and my EZ PASS did not auto replenish my balance. This resulted in a -$3 balance due to EZ PASS charging $1 per month. I rarely travel the NJ Turnpike or Garden State Parkway. Once I received violations in the mail, I went online to try to correct them and fix my credit card linked to my account. Their website prevented me from fixing my credit card and showing I am an EZ PASS customer. I wrote multiple emails to EZ PASS NJ and made multiple phone calls and could not reach anyone. MY emails were not responded too. I waited on hold for 90 minutes to get a human on 7-18-25. He stated that my EZ PASS transponder must not be reading correctly even though my car was linked to the account. He charged me the $21 for the tolls which I willingly paid. I asked for the $500 in admin fees ($50 per toll) to be removed. He said they could not be removed even though I did nothing wrong. A lady from the NJ Turnpike Authority Andrea Augusta called me after I filed multiple complaints. She told me those roads are private and compared them to a $10,000 a year country club membership. How obnoxious and elitist? She only offered to reduce the fees from $500 to $400. I said I am not paying these criminal fees. She threatened that my driver's license can be revoked in all 50 states (which is a lie) and that the charges can be put into collections and ruin my credit. Well EZ PASS had already put the charges into collections before she spoke to me for no reason! A $50 per toll fee for valid EZ PASS Customers is downright criminal. They have zero customer service skills and treat legitimate, hardworking citizens like trash. I have never received worse customer service in my entire life. EZ PASS NJ is an embarrassment to all of New Jersey. This was such an easy fix. I pay the tolls, update my credit card, $500 in criminal fees is removed. End of story.Initial Complaint

$14 dollars worth of tolls, charging me $375 because their equipment didn’t scan my existing ez pass account. Impossible to reach customer service, 1.6 stars on google with thousands of reviews. The most atrocious and exploitative company in NJ by far. NJ ez pass fails to do scan my ez pass, blames me for it, up charges by attaching a $50 administrative fee on a $2 toll. A 2500% markup. And then does not allow me to reach them to discuss the matter. On top of all this, they offload their wrongful charges to CREDIT COLLECTIONS SERVICES (CCS). Who threatens to destroy my credit. I have $731.60 in toll violations and $146.73 in a collection agency with my credit card on file. I don't even know what happened to my account. I called 17 times and people pick up and hang up. There is no office to go to, no e mail address to send to. What do I do?!!!!!!!!!! The total is under $50 in tolls with penalties on $700.00. This not fair! How do I get help? EZ-Pass is experiencing a toll upgrade.
According to Ez-Pass, this has caused a backlog of transactions and were not charged to the account at the time of travel.
Since I haven’t been charged, Ez-Pass has sent me violation on something I cannot control. I do not know how many people this is impacting, but it is not fair to ask customers to pay that violation as they we do not have control of the toll upgrade process.Initial Complaint

Outrageous operation they are running. I have had an EZ pass responder for years I'm account number ********* and my EZ pass responder is ***************. It's right there in my car. On 7/15/25 EZ pass NJ sends me two inexplicable toll violations via the regular mail with some insane added "administrative fee" of $50 per toll. They provide a phone number which put me on hold for OVER TWO HOURS and never answered. They also don't have the ticket violation numbers (*************-*** and (*************-*** uploaded online, so I can't contest them there either. There's no way for me to pay, contest, or even talk to someone. What am I supposed to do? Is this going to get sent to collections or affect my credit score? This is outrageous to have no way to contact anyone or contest the ticket. It's such a scam, should be illegal what they are doing to customers. Everyone should file a complaint with the BBB. I mean, just look at their Google rating of 1.5/5 stars.... it's unreal what they are getting away with. I demand justice. I want my $55.65 and $52.30 back and I want them to allow clients a reasonable way to contact them.Initial Complaint

I have been attempting to resolve an incorrect toll billing with NJ E-ZPass since May–June 2025. My old account under my father did not charge tolls, resulting in over $500 in administrative fees, although I was ready and willing to pay the toll amounts.
I submitted my personal EZPass number and on July 2, 2025, was told I could pay $54.38 to settle all tolls and the rest of the administrative fees would be waived (Ref: *************). I mailed check #******, which was deposited shortly thereafter.
Despite this, I received multiple final violation notices. I have repeatedly tried to reach EZPass NJ customer service, calling several times, staying on hold for over an hour each time—with no answer or callback promised. I finally gave up after waiting for extended periods on hold

I had gotten a new car and had not yet registered my EZpass tag on the account. One morning I took the parkway from my house to ******** and it didn't read the tag (I took it out of my old car) at one of the tolls but it managed to read it at the one in ******** when I got off and back on. I got the notices in the mail, sent in the money for the tolls, less the ***** fee. Their tolls were broken. I wrote an entire explanation two times and sent it back to them and I was still sent to collections. I have tried to call there on 4 separate occasions. Twice, I waited half an hour and then it disconnected me. The other two times ai waited 40 minutes and no one answered. There is no way to explain myself to anyone, and I refuse to pay the fee. The tag was in the window. I provided all the info via mail.
