i received an email stating that my account was 60plus days delinquent. Lie! I have updated my credit card at least three times this year due to card number being compromised. I attempted to update my credit card information tonight on the website and on the mobile app all with no success. I called the number to speak with a live representative and waited over 45 minutes only to be told that no one was available to answer my call! If my account was delinquent over 60 days, i would owe more than -$4 ! There has been nothing but problems using this service in the last year--so much so that I am considering getting rid of it and switching to PA Easy Pass. This is completely unacceptable.Initial Complaint

Our credit card attached to our NY EZPASS expired, we rectified the account issue with NY EZPASS by paying past tolls & updating the card on file. NJ EZPASS continued to send us violations even with an updated card on file. They are requesting that we pay $1200 in fines/administrative fees for $100 in tolls. We are more than willing to settle our tolls as it was an oversight on our part, but NJ EZPASS is still requiring that we pay over $1200 in fines which seems unreasonable for a short period of time where our billing lapsed.Initial Complaint

My EZ Pass wasn't read on two occasions. It was read fine by the PA EZPass system before and after the NJ EZPass issue. the charge for traveling on one of the roads from PA to Long Beach Island, NJ wasn't much about $3.30 each way yet since they didn't read my tag, they are trying to bill me qty (2) administration fees for the TO and FROM. What really is amazing is there is NO WAY to contact them. Every time you call the phone number for service, they hang up and say call volume way to heavy right now and to call back later.Initial Complaint

I am filing a formal complaint regarding overcharges and dispute denial practices by NJ E-ZPass. After uncovering multiple instances of significant overcharges, I attempted to file a dispute with E-ZPass and was told that nothing could be done due to their 120-day dispute window — despite the fact that the charges in question are clearly erroneous and excessive.
Specifically, I was charged a total of $196.02 for just three tolls, which should have totaled only $19.55 — an overcharge of $176.47.
The tolls in question were all for a standard passenger vehicle crossing the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge using a properly issued E-ZPass tag:
* 6/26/24 – Charged $33.97 instead of $6.38
* 9/17/24 – Charged $47.48 instead of $6.38
* 4/28/25 – Charged $114.57 instead of $6.38
When I contacted NJ E-ZPass and spoke to multiple representatives — including supervisors — I was told that because I discovered and reported the issue more than 120 days later, the dispute was automatically denied, and no review or resolution could be offered. This blanket denial was issued without consideration of the merit or validity of the charges.
This situation was made worse by E-ZPass’s prepaid billing model, which deducts toll charges from an automatically replenished balance. This system makes it difficult to detect individual overcharges unless a customer goes out of their way to review and calculate each toll manually — which few people do on a routine basis. As a result, these discrepancies remained hidden until I reviewed my statements in detail.
The representatives I spoke to refused to assist me further, leaving me with no viable options. I believe this practice is predatory and exploitative, particularly when a legitimate and provable overcharge is dismissed based solely on time elapsed — despite being buried in a system that makes errors hard to detect.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am happy to provide supporting documents, screenshots, or statements upon request.Initial Complaint

I surrendered my car to the junkyard in January. Unfortunately i did not take the plates off and return them back to the state. Plates were then likely stolen from junkyard and used on ezpass nj tolls in June on a car that isn't mine. E-ZPass nj requested a police report stating this. After I did, they requested a letter from the DMV, which they do not do. After I again submitted a police report and an affidavit from junkyard, ezpass nj still will not negate violations. I have called multiple times. The phone wait each time was over 1.5 hours. Multiple times I was on hold for over an hour and then the call was terminated from their end. Just very poor experience. They make E-ZPass holders pay more for the mere fact that very few have the ability to wait on hold for over an hour and be accessible throughout the day. So the solution because paying the fee to avoid wasting your life on hold.Initial Complaint

I am being pursued by a debt collection agency (Credit Collection Services, File No. 07 0158 *****) on behalf of New Jersey E-ZPass for $1,114.25 in alleged toll violations.The problem: I have been an active customer of NY E-ZPass for years. My tag ************* is registered to my NJ license plate ******** and permanently mounted in my vehicle (Tesla). I have been billed and have paid tolls using this tag, including for crossings in New ************************* appears NJ E-ZPass failed to correctly read or associate my plate with the tag. I was never sent itemized violations or given a chance to correct the issue before they escalated it to collections. The collection agency cannot provide any breakdown of tolls, fees, or plate images. I only learned of the balance once contacted by the debt collector.I have requested validation of the debt from Credit Collection Services. I am also attempting to dispute the violations directly with NJ E-ZPass, but the process is opaque and unresponsive.I am requesting:Immediate recall of this account from collections Waiver of all administrative fees Review and rebilling of any actual tolls to my active NY E-ZPass account This is not an attempt to avoid payment, but to correct what appears to be a serious billing and data-handling failure.Initial Complaint

I attempted to change the license plate on my EZ pass NJ tag when my lease was off and I received a new license plate. called numerous times the easy pass NJ number and I’ve been on hold each time for over an hour with no one ever picking up. At this point I’ve called around five times. I went online and was not able to change the license plate on my tag online.After numerous times, they logged me out of my account without letting me reset or go back into my online account. During this time I am gettingnumerous bills Due to the fact that my easy pass is not linked to this new license plate. I do not know how to address the situation at this point because no one is answering their phone and I’m not able to log into their website.Initial Complaint

EZ Pass Charged me $160 in toll violations. I have an EZpass transponder and money in my account. It is on an automatic renewal. When driving through a toll, the screen say "Call Service Center", which I have and have been left on hold for hours with no response whatsoever.
They have threatened "collection agency" unless I pay the violation fees. I am not paying that because I did not violate any toll. I went onto their website numerous times to file a dispute - the site kept crashing. I really do not know what to do at this point.
7/21 Violation Fee - $50
7/22 Violation Fee - $30
7/23 Violation Fee - $30
7/30 Violation Fee - $50
My account number for EZpass is *************
Thank you,

I am a resident of ****** ****** and receive a residential price break for crossing the Verrazano bridge. Apparently, I was removed from the program with no written notice of expiration or to renew (as indicated by the customer service rep on July 7th). This caused an influx of charges to my account leaving me in the negative. I have never gone below my balance so I was a little surprised. I ended up depositing 200$ on June 30th. Then I was below on my balance again which prompted me to look at my account. I noticed that I was being charged full price on July 7th and I called E-zpass to verify the reasons why. The rep informed me I was removed from the program and confirmed that I in fact was not issued a notice that to renew. He advised me to file a claim (Claim#***-******-******). This was to be reimbursed and placed back on the residential plan since I am currently a ****** ****** resident and have been for over 20years. I called E-zpass again in mid-July since I still did not receive my refund and the rep told me it would take a full 30 days. I called again today August 5th, and the rep indicated the case was still open and that it would take longer to receive these funds. I find this to be ludicrous since this is a company that handles everything via computer transaction! I work hard for my money and it's not easy knowing they owe me $142.46. Will I get that money with interest? They're quick to take a customer's hard-earned money but take their time returning what is rightfully NOT theirs to take!
