    All that you read here in other reviews is true—rent with Drivo, and you too will get the chance to pay too much money for terrible quality and service.

    My three-day standard-size rental from La Guardia, costing over $600 dollars, featured: an upsell; an insurance charge; a wait while someone did paint touch-ups on the bumpers and body; a car in need of an oil change and 2,400 miles past service; a drop-off fee when my return flight got changed to JFK; poor instructions and no one on site for an early morning drop-off; dismissive customer service (in person and by phone); and perhaps my favorite, the question whether I, from out of state, owned and had brought an EZ Pass for tolls (along with the notice that I would be charged $10 every time I incurred a toll and used Drivo's system). And that's not to mention the $200 deposit they're holding in addition to all the above.

    This company should be utterly ashamed of itself and its practices. I am waiting to see what other hidden fees I may be assessed, and I look forward to the dispute I will be making. Never again, avoid like hellfire.

    I booked a car with Avis through Priceline. Avis is affiliated with Drivo, and my confirmed total was $128. When I arrived at their office near LaGuardia Airport (on 94th St), I was blindsided — they told me my reservation had been “canceled due to a system glitch.” This was after I called them the night before and they personally confirmed everything was fine.

    At the counter they pushed me to call customer service, who was extremely rude. The rep told me flat out: either make a new booking for $326 or “go to another rental company.” Then he hung up on me when I tried to explain it was their glitch and they should honor the rate.

    That response was especially upsetting because rental counters at LaGuardia aren’t inside the airport. You need to take a 5–10 minute shuttle to get there. So being told to “go somewhere else” meant hauling all my luggage back on their shuttle, catching an Uber, and starting the whole shuttle process over with a different company. Completely unreasonable.

    I went back to the counter, and while the manager was polite, she repeated the same story: either pay triple the price or leave. No attempt to fix the issue, no discount, nothing. To make it worse, they made me rebook through Priceline again, which makes me think the whole “system glitch” excuse was just a cover so they didn’t have to honor the cheaper rate.

    After wasting two hours at their counter, I had no choice but to pay them triple to make my meeting. The car itself was in poor shape and reeked of smoke despite being labeled “non-smoking.”

    This operation feels like a scam. Drivo/Avis at this location does not respect customer reservations, does not stand behind their pricing, and shows no interest in resolving problems. I’ll never rent from them again. Save yourself the stress and book with a reputable company like Enterprise or Budget.

    very bad company , charge me too much for insurance while i have my own insurance .
    charge late pickup fee.
    i never hear that ,
    charge me almost double prices for whole period ,,while i travel and stay Canada less than total period . absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!dont go there .
    they show you low price in advetisement ,
    then when you go ,
    they will grab your money.....!!!!!!!

    My experience was quick and easy. I got a good rate online for a car at the Dumbo Brooklyn location, and had zero wait when I went to pick the car up. James, the manager, was extremely helpful and we had no problems with the car. (Confirmation Number ACS17674626)

    153951C - We have been renting from Drivo for about a year or so. For the most part always a great experience. We had used Budget in downtown Brooklyn prior, but it is usually an awful experience. Drivo is always very professional. It is more expensive, and we have to pay for extra driver (spouse) which isn't the case at Budget, but it is worth it due to the better service.

    Upon pickup car smelled very badly of smoke. We were told that the car had just been returned 20 mins ago and there wasn't time to thoroughly clean/shampoo. There were no other cars available so we felt we had no choice. The smell persisted to the point that we tried to not use the car as much as possible. Called customer service twice and both times they said they didn't have a different car to offer and they would offer what amounted to a $50 discount (on $1200 total). When I asked to speak to higher ups, I was told they weren't available both times. In the end they didn't even give me the $50 discount promised. I would not use the company again.

    My experience with Drivo's new location in DUMBO was excellent. The counter service was handled quickly and the SUV we rented was great. I will be using them again.

    The policy of adding additional charges for driving to different states is not clearly stated when you book the rental. They tell you about it when you pick up the car and have no other option but to book the rental. This is a deceptive practice and the company should be avoided at all costs.
