I have Carshield gold coverage for power-train only. I noticed an oil leak and informed them of the issue. They recommend a shop that is about 5 blocks from my house and I took my car there to be serviced. The shop couldn't find the leak at first and had to add dye to the oil. They told me to drive it for awhile and bring it back. There was a small external leak coming from the head gasket. The shop informed Carshield and said the head gasket and timing chain should be replaced. Carshield said they would not cover the timing chain and the shop wanted $3800 for the timing chain repair. The shop would not preform the head gasket repair without doing the timing chain. I spoke with Carshield and took it to a second shop. The second shop preformed a compression test and bore scope of the cylinders. They said there was overpressure from the rings leaking and I need new pistons and rings or the head gasket would just fail again. Carshield is denying the claim because the first shop had me drive the car to find the leak. This has been going on for almost a month now. Carshield is saying they will pay for the head gasket but I will have to cover the pistons and rings. They state that because i drove the vehicle it caused the piston and ring failure. The only reason i drove the vehicle was because their shop told me I had to in order the find the leak. I am seeking for them to pay for the piston and rings. I understand the timing chain is fine and will wait cover that as it is coming up on the maintenance schedule anyway.

I've been dealing with since October. I pay for a service through carshield that's suppose to cover a number of things. In this case wear talking about the motor. When I was first sold this policy I was told I could take my car straight to the dealer. This was the first lie. I was supposed to had shopped other companies long time ago I just never really got around to it. For one reason or another it doesn't cross my mind until I have to actually use them. My motor blew back in October on the fifth. My car started with *** in *********. Long story short they don't deal with CarShield because they say they don't like to pay their prices (not the first time I was told that either). I was forced to have something either done there or give away 200 plus dollars for them just looking at it. Fast forward my car is towed to a facility that works with CarShield. A dealer/mechanic shop in ***********, **. The mechanic their found a motor and CarShield found a motor. CarShield proceeded to call to inform me if I went with the mechanic option my out of pocket would be around 3000$ an if I used there option I would only have to pay the taxes on the motor plus my 100$ deductible. Obviously I went with there option. Not only did the motor take an eternity to get there. The motor have issue immediately after installation but it seized on me the following week. Oh also I forgot to mention the motor they sent was incomplete. I had to come out of pocket for things that would normally come with a motor. End result I was forced to pay for a tow. My car is currently at *******************. Apon them checking my car it was found that the motor was shot. CarShield requested photos video and whatever else they needed to move forward. After all of this a week later I'm informed the shop refuses to do the work. Why, because CarShield wants these people to use there part because they have a warranty on the motor recently installed. I have tow my car where it came from and left with 255$ diag + $tow

I am currently having multiple problems with carshield as they change their policy as they see fit. I took my vehicle in because it was having multiple problems. The first problem was with my window not working correctly. I have never been to a repair facility that would just fix a problem without looking at it first. Carshield claims that they will cover diagnostic fees when the problem is covered. Carshield told the repair facility and myself that they would not cover the diagnostic fee because the facility should have known what the problem was to begin with, but in their policy it states that a facility must look at the problem first. The second diagnostic fee was for a wheel baring. They told the facility they would not cover it because they could just look at the wheel baring and tell it needed to be replaced. They have refused to pay for any diagnostic fees that have had during my contract with them. I then asked to speak with someone else, and I was informed there is no one else to talk to. I asked to be transferred to a different adjuster and was denied being transferred to another adjuster. He then tried to get off the phone by saying I was denying taking the coverage. I informed him I needed clarity, and he refused to talk about it anymore. They claim to have some special book that tells them what prices and labor hours they use to make their decisions. I was not given a name by the adjuster nor a regular carshield phone employee. I feel like this company is committing fraud in so many ways.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond.

CarShield  requested that the Administrator of your Vehicle Service Contract examine your claim based on the review you have provided. The claim was reviewed by the Legal Claims Director for ***, an ASE-Certified Master Mechanic, and the results of this investigation have concluded that  your claim was adjudicated correctly in accordance with the terms and exclusions of the Vehicle Service Contract ("VSC").

As stated within your contract, parts not listed for coverage, non verifiable labor/taxes/fees would be your responsibility per terms of the contract. Your claim was authorized for all verifiable parts and labor allotted by your VSC. However, upon review of your file, it was found that the repair facility charged for multiple diagnosis fees that should have been diagnosed in the hour that was initially authorized in the claim. In addition, the concerns for wheel bearings and window regulator would be physical inspections that could both be completed in well under the hour that was already authorized. Your contract does not provide coverage for multiple diagnostic fees, and would not be eligible for coverage.

CarShield has no contractual obligation to provide coverage that extends past the liability of your VSC. However, as a courtesy your claim was authorized an additional hour to cover a portion of the additional diagnostic fees associated with your claim by a claims service representative. There will be no further authorization added to your claim.

I purchased a vehicle warranty from car shield I was $550 into the deal the motor in my truck locked up blew up whatever you want to call it the first thing they did was downgrade my service from the gold plan to the silver plan and after I provide it all records and information that they required they sent my truck to a mechanic of their choice the mechanic diagnose the problem told him it's findings they sent an individual inspector mechanic and then made a determination that there's aftermarket parts on my truck and it has been tuned and they weren't going to cover it after they'd already rented me a similar truck that I had in the shop the same day that they gave me the okay they canceled my policy refused to pay the mechanic for services that I needed done because of the aftermarket parts I knew nothing of the aftermarket parts or what they're talking about if they're going to do that to people they should have the truck inspected or whatever before they sell in the policy not selling the policy hoping that something's going to be wrong and they don't have to pay out on it I think it's wrong that they done that to me my truck was in the shop for 2 months with me nothing to drive I still have nothing to drive because it's not being fixed yet I bought the warranty with the expectations I hope I might not have to use it but if I ever did it was there peace of mind I'm trying to work to my truck said he deals with this all the time it doesn't matter if you're one mile over on your oil change they can refuse service to you I don't think a company like that should be in business thank you for your time and reading this

As stated within your contract, your vehicle will be excluded from coverage if it is modified in any way that increases the likelihood of a breakdown whether the vehicle was purchased with such modification or not. Upon inspection of your file, it was discovered that your vehicle has an aftermarket exhaust system that may exasperate the breakdown of the vehicle. Seeing as these modifications were not disclosed at the time of sale for your VSC, there will be no coverage for your claim.

I just received (at 1:32 pm cst) another call from CarShield on a toll free number *************), asking me about home insurance. I told the young girl I do not own a home, and that I was not to be contacted per a legal agreement between CarShield and me. All of my phone numbers are to be removed. This young girl called me a *****, and I said "I heard that" and hung up. I have asked, many times, that I no longer be contacted as I want nothing to do with this company! I just want them to leave me alone!

I purchased a warranty for my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. I was told I would only be responsible for paying a $250 deductible for covered parts. 3 times now I am having to pay more then the deductible because they are not honoring what is in black and white on the contract they sent me.

Upon inspection of your file, it was discovered that the out-of-pocket costs associated with your claim were due to your repair facility charging for visual inspections and diagnosis. No form of testing was done, and a simple gaze determined where the leak was coming from in regard to your oil pan. When I contacted the company in regards to my vehicle leaking oil I was told it had to be diagnosed my a licensed repair shop to start the claim. I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because:
They wanted me to settle for refund of 3 monthly payments. Then went to 4 but that was so that I could reimburse myself for paying for parts/labor that should have been covered by my contract. And then sign a settlement letter and my coverage would be cancelled. I have cancelled my coverage but I am not signing or accepting offer because that doesnt begin to make up for all the false advertising and lies. Was told by legal representative that she was having all calls reviewed and would further assist from then but now states that will take time because it is a lot she just wanted me to agree to the 4 payments and sign the settlement to release there obligation. When confronted about why only $390 was paid I was told my mechanic was ripping me off by over charging me on parts which he wasnt because I gave him the part info and labor which he is the lowest around town and they initially agreed his labor was very fair.

I purchased the extended warranty for my engine and transmission. I experienced issues and my repair shop identified a problem that required transmission replacement and Car Shield agreed. I expected to pay more for factory fluids and gaskets but they would only authorize a junkyard transmission and not a rebuilt transmission. Basically they are only covering less than half of the cost. I would like to be reimbursed for the excess that I am being forced to pay. Thank you for your help.

I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because: They were unable to provide any information about the transmission that they wanted to install in my car. Originally I was told that it was rebuilt but I knew that it wasn't because the cost they were willing to pay was less than half of what a rebuilt would cost. I was eventually told the truth that it would be purchased from a junkyard. I'm having my repair shop installing a rebuilt transmission that has a 3 year, 100k mile warranty that will last longer than the unknown junk they wanted to purchase. I understand that using some parts from a junkyard is standard practice in auto repair but using a complete transmission without any knowledge of mileage or condition is just wrong and outside the industry norm. I want to avoid having to be without my vehicle again in a few months because defective parts were used. Car Shield has cancelled my rental car and will not extend it which is wrong because they delayed making a decision which is why the 14 day limit should have been extended. Customer ********************** is directed to not give complete or truthful answers when customers ask direct questions which is why I think this business is shady and uses every tactic to delay, delay, deny! I need to be reimbursed for my costs and I wish they would pay me for my time, inconvenience, and frustration.

    Mr. ****,

Your contract clearly states on page 2 of 21, paragraph #6 - "WE may authorize the REPAIR FACILITY to repair or replace COVERED PARTS with new, re-manufactured, or used parts of like kind and quality based on the age and mileage of YOUR VEHICLE at the time of repair. WE may choose to have parts shipped to the REPAIR FACILITY. If the REPAIR FACILITY does not accept shipped parts, WE may choose to authorize the value of the shipped parts as a credit toward the REPAIR FACILITYs parts. If YOU decide to use the REPAIR FACILITY parts, the authorized amount will be credited towards the cost of the repair; any additional amounts will be YOUR responsibility. REPAIR FACILITY parts must come with a part warranty issued by either the manufacturer or the REPAIR FACILITY with minimum part warranty period of the lesser of twelve (12) months or ****** miles"

This information is also given to you in the initial sales call. In this case 26 minutes and 49 second into the call the day you purchased your contract.

I understand that Car Shield may authorize the REPAIR FACILITY to repair or replace with new, re-manufactured, or used parts of like kind and quality based on the age and mileage of MY VEHICLE at the time of repair. However, I had questions about the transmission that you wanted to put into my vehicle that the company was either unable or unwilling to provide. After your original agent tried to pass off the estimated cost of the replacement transmission as a rebuilt and then admitted that it was like rebuilt, your company lost all credibility and trust that I might have had and I had no way of knowing that your junkyard would provide a transmission that was of like kind and quality based on the age and mileage of my vehicle. My vehicle is serviced by the ** dealerships at required intervals using authorized manufacturers parts, can you say the same for your junk? I am writing this to place a complaint with car shield. I have been a customer since *********. Monthly payment of $114.99. my car broke down on 1-14-2025 I had it towed to a mechanic that was in their network. I was told it was the rack and pinion steering w/ a high pressure line. Total for repair $2174.04. the shop called car shield and was told the repair was NOT covered. I called them and they because of the year of the car and the miles. 2002 ******* Santa Fe. I purchased this policy for piece of mind. Being a single female w/one car. I tried talking to them many times to no eval. I also asked if they cover a rental to be able to get to work NOPE! I had to use my rent money to have it fixed! Almost lost my job. I have been without a car for two weeks. the advertising makes you feel a piece of mind to have their coverage. I was told I should of known that the rack and pinion wasn't covered. HOW? I'm not a mechanic.. I have given them a lot of money and nothing in return but frustration, tears, and financial dispare. I am looking for a refund at this time. Please!!

I sent this to CarShield @ ***************************** DO NOT CONTACT ME, I REUSED TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU!!!!On 01/23/25 at about 1400 hrs (Pacific Standard Time), I was looking at several vehicle warranty companies online. I went on CarShield website and requested a free quote. At 1417 hrs (PTS), my cell phone was ringing off the hook. In 30 minutes, I received an email and over 2 dozen calls and 1 voicemail. At about 1515 hrs, I called CarShield I asked nicely, advised and told them to stop blowing up my phone. I will call you. I later spoke with a sales representative, I told him I was just wanting to get a free quote. I am researching several companies before making a decision. The sales representative told me the price plan. Again I told him I will look it over and get back to him. He became very aggressive in NOT listening and wanting me sign up right then and there. I ended the call and received 3 more calls after. I blocked all the phone numbers hopefully. CarShield responded back at 4:28am We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. Please include your phone number so we can remove you from the call list. Thank you. Or speak to one of our customer ********************** representatives at **************.Then I received 7 emails and 2 calls. I want them to stop.
