Extended warranty was sold to me by CarShield on 01/26/21. I bough a ******** 2012 C250 Jan 2022 with milage ******. actual on the odometer. I paid my premiums up to date. when a claim was filled for repairs by my repair shop in Oct 2023, i was informed that my contract was cancelled due to a milage roll back. I was not involved in this action. this milage roll back was said to be done before I bought the car. Now they are refusing to honor the cost of the repairs even thought my account was paid up and in good standing.Business Response

As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, ******************** (AAS) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Although an unfortunate situation, your vehicle was never eligible for CarShield coverage due to the odometer rollback prior to you purchasing the vehicle. Since AAS can not verify the mileage on your vehicle, your most recent claim will not move forward and your contract will be voided. A copy of the Carfax report proving the odometer rollback can be purchased at carfax.com.
******************** has authorized $6,285.45 in previous claims. As a courtesy, CarShield will refund your last 10 payments upon execution of a Settlement and Release Agreement. If you wish to accept this offer, please email ******************************* to confirm and we will draft the Agreement and email it to you for your electronic signature. Approx 2 years ago I purchased Car Shield - according to the representative I purchased the best coverage they had (Diamond coverage for $130.00 monthly payment) on October 19th my car engine failed - and unknown to myself and the Auto repair facility so did the turbo. Car Shiled took 2 weeks to approve the engine replacement- Ive been using Car Shield's company's that they provided for the towing service and their approved repair facility - also the starter failed because of the engine issue, which they refused to cover, all the parts are used, not rebuilt or new! It took them until yesterday 11/14 at 5:38 to approve the turbo replacement, they kept giving the repair facility and myself the run around stalling to see if they could deny the claim and now are denying the labor hours to the repair facility they only want to pay for half the amount of time it will take to repair it - the facility says it will take 4 hrs and Car shield is only willing to pay for 2 hrs labor. So of course I will have to pay the difference. - My deductible is $100 - so far Im now responsible for $518.00 in repairs that they are refusing to cover. A small portion of this is for spark plugs which I do realize that I should pay for, however the starter and all of the labor should be covered by Car Shield!!! Also I have rental car coverage with their "BEST" coverage which gave me a rental for 2 days of the 1 month it has taken them to approve these repairs. They only cover car rental for the amount of labor hours not the amount of time that they delay the process because of them taking so long to give approval for repairs. Of course they don't tell you that when they tell you their BEST overage gives you car rental privileges.Business Response

I am filing a complaint against CarShield Warranty Co.On July 27th, 2023, I had a problem with my 2015 ************, where as it would not stay running. I decided to take my car to the *** ********************** in *************, ***************Two days later, I was told that I needed an engine. I asked the *** ********************** could they repair it. I was told that they could and it would cost approximately $11,00. I told *** that I had CarShield warranty company. I was informed that they (***) does not work with CarShield because they do not pay their bills. I was told that C&C Automotive Shop works with CarShield. I called C&C Automotive shop and asked them do they work with CarShield. C&C said yes they do. I had my car towed to C&C Automotive. My AAA Auto Service towed my car to C&C Automotive Service. I informed CarShield where I was taking my car to. C&C informed me that they would let me know as soon as they find out something. I informed CarShield and they told me that I had to cover the cost.I was told by C&C that it would cost me about $1,000 to check out the vehicle to find out what was wrong with the engine. So, I told them okay. I had to stand for that amount. About two weeks later I called C&C to check on my vehicle, I was told that the cam bolt had broken off in the engine. I waited another week before I called CarShield, I was informed that they would not warranty my engine because the cam bold is not warrantied. The same day that they were informing me about my CarShield, they were deducting the monthly payment ($109.00) out of my bank.I am filing a complaint against CarShield. I am rejecting their response because I feel that they should pay me back for the loans I had to take out to get my car repaired. They said that it was approved and then they said I was not approved. I had to buy another car and that other car is still sitting there.
I would like for them to pay off the loans that I had to get my car repaired, one is $1200 and the other one is $700 or pay me for having to purchase another car.

I took my 2014 *********************** to ************************** on 11/8/2023 as I was hearing rumbling noises in the front end of the car. After their inspection it was determined that the lower control arms (right and left sides) have cracked bushings and need replacement. (see attachments). On 11/14/2023 I took the car in for repair under the Diamond Elite policy (policy # ABF3427641) I currently have with CarShield to have the work done. ***********************, Automotive Service Director called the company to get authorization. Before she could explain what the problem was, the customer ********************** representative told her I had no coverage for this repair when he looked the policy up. She called me and let me know what they said. So I called and spoke to a young lady who said a claim was started and denied under the section D. Exclusion item p: . RESULTING OVERHEAT FROM ENGINE SLUDGE, CARBON, PREIGNITION, DETONATION, VARNISH, RUST, CORROSION, FOREIGN OBJECTS, DIRT, DUST, LIQUID, CRACKED RUBBER / NEOPRENE PARTS, DRY-ROT, ROAD CHEMICALS, ABUSE, ALTERATION, OR LACK OF PROPER AND NECESSARY AMOUNTS OF COOLANT, FUEL,FLUIDS OR LUBRICANTS; Since ******************** never was afforded to opportunity to say what was wrong with my car, how could they use this reason for denying the claim?? There is no excessive wear & tear and how can a car not get dirt and dust on it 4 years into the policy?? The car only has ****** miles on the odometer. I want to get CarShield to honor their policy and cover all but the deductible to get my car repaired.Business Response

As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, American Auto Shield (AAS) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Per AAS, the claim decision was correct based on the diagnosis provided by your chosen repair facility. The repair facility advised the lower control arm replacement was recommended due to dry-rot which is an exclusion to coverage per this contract. Your vehicle has traveled less than ****** miles in 3 years so this diagnosis would fit with the vehicle sitting for extended periods of time. Dry-rot would not be considered a failure of the part as this would be due to outside influence.

I am rejecting this response because:
I vehemently protest their claim that the car sits and and is not driven. Granted, my husband works from home but the car is driven many time during the week albeit short distances in the immediate area and maybe once in a while road trips. In addition the repair facility never got a chance to explain the problem due to the fact the representative said I did not have suspension coverage when she asked if the lower control arms were covered so she never told them what the problem was. I have attached my record of gas purchases for the year as evidence that the car is being driven. It has a large gas tank, gets good mileage and that explains the once a month fill-**** Prior to the pandemic he drove to work every day and even that was less than 10 miles one way.
Sincerely,

I filed a claim through my **** dealer. Car shield has been stalling on sending an adjuster out. I sent my maint. Records and because ********* gave me receipts not itemized invoice. They will not send out adjuster. I went to ********* and shared with him. He filled out his standard form.1 was for an oil change and the other was for installation of 4- new tires and 4- tire pressure sending mechanisms. I have had a rental car for 2 weeks now. Tomorrow I have to rent car for another week. They have argued with **** about quality of pictures etc. why dont they send an adjuster out and see for himself. I just want to be treated fairly. They appear to be very underhanded. Had I known, I would have never chose car shield. I would not recommend them to anyone. Downright shameful.Business Response

I purchased a gold package from car shield on a 2009 VW Tiguan, the person on the phone that sold me the warranty told me that it covered all engine and transmission trouble up to 10,000per claim. Well its been 3 months since I signed up and my check engine light went on brought the car to my mechanic something happened with the valves and piston rings. But now car shield is denying the claim its not fair. Upon further research I have discovered they are notorious for this type of fraud. They claim to cover everything in the engine and transmission and then when you make a claim they will find some reason not to cover your repair. I have uploaded a copy of the contract I would like to see if theres a way to resolve this without getting lawyers involved. Please let me know if anymore information is needed . I appreciate anything you can do to help resolve this matter. Thank you ***************** **************** ************Business Response

Carshield does not tell you that they only cover the actual rental cost of the vehicle. They say they cover $40 up to $100 a day. If it is over $40 you have to file a claim for additional charges. What they don't tell you is the only cover the actual rental cost before any additional fees. I rented a car that was $51 a day before taxes. Added a damage waver to vehicle. My total charge for the vehicle rental was $694.71 for 8 days. Carshield only payed for $408. Nothing for taxes or the insurance on the rental. And none of this was explained beforehand. If it was I would have done things differently. I would like to be paid the proper amount that I paid out.Business Response

Why choose a BBB Accredited Business?BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.
BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
