  I am a past employee that had to quit due to medical issues. I have STILL not been paid for the work I did in 2022. When I reach out to ***, the store lead, she tells me excuse after excuse. I am only owed for roughly 5-6 hours, but this just shows the lack of the ability to do the right thing and have honor. Their training was a joke, spent two hours at an office, literally doing nothing but waiting for 15 other people to learn how to log into a system - sat around and did nothing, only to be told that we would have to finish 10+ hours of training at home. Some people mentioned they didn't even have a computer and were not aware of any at-home training provided. They also told me I would be hired for $14 an hour but only paid me at the rate of $12. They are not honest and do not stick by their word. If this is how they treat their employees, I can't imagine the way they deal with customers/clients...

  They are not up front with how much it costs and how much each item costs. Never will use them again and will recommend everyone not to either.

  ***** Block are deceitful! I had my taxes amended because my e-filing for 2020 & 2021 was incorrect. Because of this action I was told by the tax preparer I will be getting in the mail a courtesy refund of $200 from ***** Block. I received my amended federal tax refund 4 months ago & I'm still awaiting their refund check. When I call headquarters, I only get the round around. To this day I have not received no courtesy refund. I strongly do not recommend ***** Block for Tax Preparation! They overcharge for their services. Stay away!!

  I used to work the front desk for this company. The people I worked with are some of the most talented tax professionals on the planet, but the software for filing your own taxes should be considered a scam. Pay for your own information after paying for the filing, the payment acceptance doesn't work, the app is broken all over the place and has been for years, the web UI just straight up doesn't work the majority of the time, rejecting payments or throwing nonsensical error codes during filing. Want to tell someone their garbage website is broken? Pay 30 dollars for the privilege of speaking to an actual person! What a waste of time, avoid at all costs. FreeTaxUSA did my taxes this year and, though smaller than H&R Block, can at least rub enough braincells together to create a basic functioning website. What a joke.

  This is a joke of a company. I have used their tax software for a few years and this will be the last. Their website is not helpful when it comes to deciding what software package to purchase and when you call in for help, their customer service agent (at least the one I talked to) did not know anymore about their tax preparation products than I did. There is no way to get technical support except through their tax software and the problem I am having is the software won't connect me to tech support because it says I am not connected to the internet, WHICH I AM. Very frustrating. Even if you have an account on their website, there is no way to get a live person to get technical support for their software. Their tax preparers are a joke, too. One year I used one of their tax preparers and filed what was given me. I had to do that because I was in a hurry to meet a filing deadline. A few months later, I handed the return to my accountant, who looked it over and asked, "Why did you not deduct any of your business expenses?" We had to file an amended return that lowered my tax bill by a few hundred dollars. I am going back to TurboTax.

  Whatever you do, don't hire ******************************* at H&R Block in ******* **. This tax preparation "service" is a joke. We used H&R Block for our 2019 tax filings in the hopes that this would be the year we can finally get reliable help with taxes. The initial filing did not save us time, as we spent countless hours reviewing and pointing out numerous mistakes. But we clearly we should have spent countless more. In 2020, we received our first audit letter from the ** state government pointing out that the tax preparer ONLY REPORTED ONE OF OUR INCOMES from the state filing (despite filing both for federal), and we did not pay the correct amount on capital gains as a result of our income level. This was neither a complicated tax loophole nor some intricate detail--it was a complete lack of attention to the basics. After chasing this issue down, we asked ******** if we should file an amended return. He advised that we should not, and that H&R Block would not cover the filing fee for an amended return at this time, but if we received any follow up letters, H&R Block could help with this. We reluctantly agreed to this on his advice.In 2022, we received the second audit letter charging the difference plus hundreds of dollars in interest and penalties. We reached out to Mahendra again (which took some time, as he advised us he only worked on Saturday and could only respond once a day), he changed his tune to say that H&R Block would not cover the interest or penalties, and we should have filed the amended return in 2020. He refused to give us the name of his manager to escalate this, and suggested we speak to customer service.Safe to say, we now do our own taxes.

  I also purchased the Peace of Mind, trusting HR Block with my Tax Returns. I ended up not only losing over $1100.00 in state returns but, owing close to $300.00. This was last year's taxes and to this day, Nov 25, 2022, HR Block still won't release my federal income tax documents to me. They are not available on the web site ( it still says "In Progress") When I call and ask to speak with a supervisor, I get the run around and have actually set up a call back time - that they missed and never called. And the peace of mind garbage: don't waste your money, HR Block will not back up their claims/mistakes. I am giving HR Block one more courtesy call after the weekend and if it still is not corrected, I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB.

  *************** is a joke. They mislead you and provide you with irresponsible job offers that later they rescind because they don't want to pay accurate benefits. They lie and make a mockery out of the onboarding process submitting you to mediocrity and stealing your peace of mind without even being a formal employee. Then they have the audacity to lie about in person onboarding procedures and when you provide evidence, they stop responding. Don't onboard with them.

  I bought the "peace of mind" trusting them with my tax returns. After a couple of weeks I got a letter from the *** stating that I owed money and got charged interest. When I took this letter from the *** back to the local branch I was told by the regional manager that the "peace of mind" would cover the money owed since Block had made the mistake. The local branch filed the complaint sent to headquarters. A couple of weeks later I got a letter saying my complaint was denied.The response came, after I had tried to call several times with no answer from head quarters, that because there have been so many stimulus credits they were overwhelmed and had a clause in their "peace of mind" stated that mistakes of this kind was not covered by their policy. (the child tax credit).I trusted ***** block filing my taxes and secured myself with the "peace of mind". I will not make this mistake again.
