  H & R Block services have deteriorated dramatically after 20+ years of excellent service for us. For tax year 2022 the first return they provided us was missing a major item. Their second try had a major mistake related to our K-1 form, which my wife was able to correct. The last return provided us was without forms for estimated tax submissions. Finally, the IRS found our return to be incorrect and refunded us $3500. We asked the local office supervisor for attention and received no response after two months of waiting, so we wrote to their HQ and received no response after a month of waiting. We believe an apology is due us as well as a refund for their faulty services.

  An absolute joke of an office and tax "professionals". Nothing about these guys are "professional" as they blew off my appointment without any communication after receiving a tax letter in the mail and setting up an appointment with their office, and one of their employees. Appointment was supposed to start at 12:00 and by 2:00PM I hadn't received a single bit of communication. Absolutely do NOT work with this office, or "professionals", as they apparently clearly don't care for their customers after their customers pay their employer for years to help protect against this. Absolute garbage can of an office.

  BEWARE! H&R Block will hire ANYONE to do your taxes! They are NOT “professionals”!
  We went in with our simple returns. I had to argue with our preparer that our HSA contributions were not part of our taxable income and she wouldn’t have it! They made me pay up front, so they already had my $450 and she wouldn’t listen to me! She went to talk to another lady about it and even the other worker said to add it to my income! I got so frustrated arguing with them that it’s not income that I walked out and let my husband finish.
  She filed our taxes with the HSA as additional income and said if it’s incorrect her boss will be back on Monday and we can file an amendment then…. EXCUSE ME?!?!?!?!
  After going back and forth even more with the desk on Monday, they finally agreed to file an amendment for us…. Several months later we receive a notice from the IRS that our taxes are still not correctly filed and if we don’t start making payments they are coming for our house. (Please note that if our taxes had been done correctly from the start, I would be getting a refund)
  We contacted the IRS (hours and hours and hours on the phone) to be told the addendum was incorrect.
  They instructed me to write a letter to them stating the full situation, with all the paperwork backup for my additional income… I DON’T HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL INCOME!!!! They said if I don’t have the back up for it, I will have to request that I am audited to correct the situation….
  The office we originally went to is completely closed for the season (they do leave their door completely unlocked and open though). The corporate office will only give us contact information for the district adjacent to us, who cannot do anything for us, and they refuse to give us a refund.
  STAY AWAY! STAY FAR AWAY! EVERYONE IN OUR AREA IS INCOMPETENT!

  I used H & R Block for State and Federal taxes. I sent the return in electronically. The Federal return was never received by the government. The State return suffered the same fate. I attempted to get H & R Block to help me with the problem. They completely refused. The H & R offices told me I could pay $100.00 per hour to help me with my returns. The main company in Kansas City told me to take a flying leap. I will never have anything to do with this company again, and recommend that anyone who is considering doing business with them consider that they will suffter the same fate that I did. Still trying to get my refunds!!!!!

  My tax return was released by the irs April 2023. It is almost November 2023. I keep getting sent to someone that has no idea whats going on.

  After filing online and working with an online Pro - I returned with final data. The online pro system was not responsive. repeated attempts to connect and no one responded. I finally reached out to my local retail location and to my dismay my account could not be released from the previous ONLINE PRO. There were at minimum a dozen calls made by myself AND the local (to me) retail office. The retail office tried to work with the District Manager in Ohio to get this released from the online system to retail. I tried; H&R Block internally tried to get this released through the IT Department. I have spoken to a new person and department each time.
  
  I ultimately had to take my entire tax file to a different accountant to have my taxes filed by the October 16 deadline. The new accountant found so many errors I cannot even begin to tell you. It was so very bad I was even embarrassed at the incompetence.
  
  Today 10.18.2023 I have contacted customer service to receive a refund of my fees paid - which was over $300.00 for the non-service I received, only to be placed on hold and ultimately disconnected after being on hold for over 10 minutes.
  
  I am disgusted and horrified at the lack of service, competence, and ability of a public organization to be communicated with and resolve issues. This is an outrage.

  **** * ***************** HR block guarantees that they have your back however this is false representation! I receive documentation that I did not file my 2017 taxes. However, I received a refund but the representative failed to send my completed taxes (State portion). I have been dealing with this issue for years and have yet to receive any results. Every time I call the 800 # they claim my issue has been escalated. They have no supervisors or higher ups that you can consult with. Every time I call to check on the status all I get is another escalation. I have been precise and told the representative I only want email communication for tracking purposes. No calls have been received or emails. This year alone(2023) I have called in February, September and at this point 4x already in the month of October. I have even filed a complaint via customer service. My point is why do I even need to be contacted???!!! Just file my taxes! I've signed and paid for the services but these idiots wont just do their due justice. I need to be compensated for my services that I did not receive as well as fees accumulated and associated with me not filing. They don't hold their counterparts accountable. This matter should have been resolved without my involvement. Run!!! There are so many other companies and free services you can use to file your taxes. Don't get robbed by them! File directly through the IRS or turbo tax; even your local library. RRRRRRRUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNN!!!!

  This company made a significant error on our taxes. They negligently forgot to file one of our returns. We filed a complaint with the corporate office, followed up twice, and still have not heard back. They are hoping we just go away. They are unprofessional, overpriced, incompetent, and the bottom of the barrel when it comes to tax preparation. Go anywhere else.

  H&R Block in **********, ******** made a mistake on my ******** state taxes for the 2020 & 2021 years. I am a retired teacher and my pension is exempt from ******** state taxes. The first preparer did not know this and another preparer had to file amendments for both years. No one from the office contacted to inform me that the amendments were finished. During that time, I received notifications from MDR stating I still owed taxes. I called H&R Block office in Washington and received the run around. Then I called the corporate office in *********** and asked for reimbursement for the tax preparation and again received the run around. Instead I was given a escalation # and have received no return calls. I had to call ******** ********** of ******* myself to correct the mistakes made by H&R Block.

  I went to H&R Block, one that was a franchise location. ***** and ********************* LLC. When I went there to file my taxes, I had a simple question about my **** the front desk lady laughed at me. This made me feel hurt, I left afterwards but they still had my tax stuff to get my taxes done. I went to call the corporate office that let me know where I went was a franchise location. The customer support individual on the phone tried to help get e everything filed about my complaint on the franchise location. I didn't have the first and last name of the front desk lady. I had to call the franchise location I was at to get that information. They repeatedly declined providing that for me, eventually they did get it, so a formal statement could be provided to corporate. However, due to the H&R Block that I went to being a franchise location there wasn't much they could do. Well, once my taxes were done I went to the H&R Block to get everything and pay what was owed. I was treated with hostility. A few days had passed and I saw I had a missed call from H&R Block on my phone as I was leaving from one job, I was about to be going to my other job. I had decided to call back to see why I was contacted. The girl who answered didn't know why, and even let me know that this was a different location that the one I had my taxes done at. However, she did go to investigate why. She was the only remotely nice person I spoke to. ********************* took the line shortly afterwards. He is an uncaring and money grubbing individual. All he cared about was getting his money from me, and not the pain his company caused me. He berated me on the phone, if was already known I would not be going back due to their already uncaring nature, but honestly he is a cold callous man. He caused me to have an anxiety attack. I realised shortly afterward about hkn leaving me a voicemail where he was calling me names and dismissing the negative experience I had with his company. Very unprofessional.
