Purchased Windows from Window Nation on June 9, 2022. It took until August 3, 2022 to start the project. Window Nation did not secure the needed permit as agreed to at time of purchase and work had to stop incomplete on August 3, 2023. That same day I realized that the installer installed a defective window (photo in attachment). Window nation failed to follow up so I called the Chicago Office and finally had the second set of windows installed on 8/9/2023. Defective window that Window Nation installed on August 3, 2022 was finally replaced on October 11, 2022. It was on this installation that the window nation ripped the screen on installation. The window nation installer told me that it would take three weeks to get a replacement and that I would be called to schedule installation. Again no follow up from Window Nation was given and in January 2023 I again reached out to salesperson *** for an update. On January 27, 2023 *** the salesperson dropped of a screen but was not able to install it. On May 30th, I contacted Mr. ***** ***** with Window Nation. the Chicago Window Nation Office called me the next day on May 31, 2023 with an appointment for June 6, 2023. The Window Nation installer came out ripped the replacement screen, advised that the windows were in need of caulk, and told me that a SIXTH appointment would be needed to complete the project.I am utterly frustrated and disappointed with WINDOW NATION. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT ONE YEAR, FIVE DIFFERENT APPOINTMENTS AND STILL THE PROJECT TO INSTALL TWO SETS OF WINDOWS REMAINS INCOMPLETE.

Window Nation certainly apologizes for the frustration and length of time our customer's project has taken. Prior to receiving this complaint, our records indicated that the customer's service issues had been resolved in January 2023 when the final screen was dropped off to our customer. It was not until May 30, 2023 that our customer informed us of any other service matters and that the screen was not put in. Nevertheless, Window Nation is working quickly to resolve the customer's concerns. We have an appointment scheduled for June 13, 2023 to repair the screen and correct the caulking around our customer's *********************. ********************** remains committing to addressing any service concerns our customer may have. We look forward to their resolution.

We met Jeff M***** from Window Nation on June 5th, 2022. Jeff promised high quality windows installed within 12 wks. We signed an agreement with $15k down and roughly another $14k left to pay interest free for 18 mos. 3 mos later there were no windows installed. We called several times and were given the run around. Finally, we were contacted by Jeff and told the windows would not be ready for a few more months. Finally, in November, the windows were ready. We were told it would be a one-day job and no hassle. The job took multiple days and our house was left damaged. The foreman pointed out 2 damaged windows that needed replacing. Both had exterior damage and were not installed properly. We found other problems, including poor caulking, multiple windows that don’t lock, a damaged door, and peeling vinyl. The windows were also made of cheap quality, not as described. Manager, Robert *****, came out to survey our windows in December, after waiting a month. He agreed and documented all of our issues. We were told someone would get back to us in a few days. Another manager, Bryan ******** contacted us WEEKS later. It was winter and cold. Our faulty windows were not properly insulated and our house was freezing with the furnace running non-stop. Bryan assured us that replacement orders would be ordered right away, we would be compensated, and it would take a couple of weeks. We tried to contact them for months. No one would get back to us, being told a “manager was out right now but would contact us by the end of the day”. No one ever called back, except one time when they incorrectly thought we were a new customer. On May 16th Bryan sent us an email to call him. The number given was not a direct line to him. We continued to leave several messages. Finally, we were contacted by Bryan on May 23rd who told us that the windows were not ready and assured us we would be compensated. He then sent us an email to reiterate this. It has now been a year with no end in sight.

I am rejecting this response because:

Window Nation has yet to contact us directly, by email or phone, to update on the status of this issue. Their reply to the BBB states that they have a date for July 5th. But they have not contacted us about a date, and they pushed these dates off since December. The last date my wife and I were told was June 2nd, and they never followed up.

Window Nation regrets the frustration surrounding the customer's project and apologizes for the lack of communication in providing updates for our customers. Window Nation has scheduled a service date for June 21, 2023, where we hope to address all of the customer concerns and will continue to follow up with the customer to ensure that they are completely satisfied with the finished product. The company did contact us to inform us a portion of the order was ready, after six months of waiting. I did make an appointment for June 21st for a timeframe of 2-4 pm. I was contacted again and told they would not be able to accommodate this time frame. They scheduled me instead for a morning install. I was unable to accommodate this time-frame due to work. Because there are still more items on wait, it was decided to wait until all items were ready before scheduling an install. We are now waiting for the full order to be fulfilled, again, after six months of waiting and a year since the initial agreement was made.

Window Nation apologizes for the delays the customer has been experiencing. Window Nation did call the customer on June 6, 2023, and June 16, 2023; however, we were unable to leave a voicemail. Window Nation did speak to the customer on June 19, 2023, and set up a service date for June 21, 2023; unfortunately, the customer canceled due to the fact this would only be a partial service. Window Nation received all of the necessary parts to complete the service on June 29, 2023, and left a message for the customer on June 30, 2023, to call back to schedule a time to complete their project. Window Nation will continue to follow up with the customer once everything has been completed.

I am rejecting this response because: Many of their statements are lies. I did set up an appointment with them for the June date. However, they called me to tell me the time I had schedule needed to be changed because they did not have any technicians that could come out at the time they scheduled with me. i wrote this in my last response to the BBB as well. I set up a new time, and I told them I may not be able to accommodate them at the new time because of work obligations. I told the representative that I would contact her to let her know if I could keep the appointment. I contacted them again the next day to inform them I would not be able to accommodate them because the those obligations. The woman who I spoke with on the phone was not able to give me information on the parts that were ready. She was able to confirm that this was not my complete order and that the rest would be completed in July. Because of this, it was decided that we would wait for the whole order to come, so as not to have to have two separate appointments. I was contacted last Wednesday June 30th by Bryan ******** He contacted me to notify me the rest of the order was in. I left him a message that afternoon, within two hours of his message, to verify the items in the order and set up an appointment. It is now 6 days later, and instead of following up with me about my message, they followed up with the BBB to notify them they will continue to follow up with me. I have these correspondences in writing. I would like to state again that we ordered these windows in June of 2022.

      Sincerely,

Window Nation promised a service with each window being custom made to fit our home. The job was done two days ago and none of the windows or sliding doors are custom made with over 2.5 inch gaps only being filled with foam and hidden with trim. Some of the windows do not lock because they do not line up the sliding door doesnt lock. Nothing was completed correctly on this job and I am scared this is going to cause big problems in the future. We were sold anf promised a service that was not delivered for an extremely high price. The quality is not what we expected and we are extremely disappointed and concerned for the integrity of the windows and doors and how long they will actually last. Not to mention I should beable to lock all of the windows and doors but nothing lines up correctly.

July 2020 Paid $13,000 for the replacement of 13 windows. We have had an issue with a kitchen window. It leaks every time it rains. The window that was replaced never leaked. We had Window Nation come out twice for this issue. My husband took a gutter down that was near the window and found that the window was not caulked properly. The second guy that come out was a roofer blaming it on the roof. He caulked the window and now it doesnt leak. The seal on the window inside of the house is broken and the windows are tan and he put white caulking. They are refusing to come out and do anything to this window. They need to fix this issue. The inside of the window may be rotted. I want it fixed properly. This small window cost $1000. This is definitely a window that was not caulked properly and needs to be corrected.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 05/26/2023

I tried to upload the warranty and it said the file is too large to send.  The warranty states that glass, materials and caulking are covered for 5 years.  They need to come out and caulk the window correctly.  When the window was installed, the installers caulked around a gutter that was in the way instead of asking us to move the gutter so that it could be caulked properly.  They sent a roofer out who tried to blame it on the roof.  We asked him to caulk the window where it was not caulked.  He only had white caulking and the rest of the windows were caulked with tan caulking.  Its an eye sore.  The window no longer leaks.  It leaked so bad from not being properly caulked that it was raining inside the window,  I want the wood checked.  They refuse to do anything,  I paid $13,000 for these windows and I want it done correctly.

Window Nation apologizes to our customer for any frustration they've experienced due to water leaking into their home. Our technicians have been sent out, as our customer stated, and on multiple occasions we have determined that the roof above the window to be the culprit of the water leaks. While Window Nation hates that a customer would experience any inconveniences with their home, Window Nation did not install the roof above the window and therefore cannot service the roof. We understand that our customer does not agree with our stance, however Window Nation is confident that there are no issues with this window that pertain to our installation. We remain committed to assisting if an issue should ever arise with any other window concern, as they do have a warranty that we will honor on our products. Window Nation hopes our customer is able to find a complete resolution quickly with a qualified roofing professional.

      Hello,

Please see the attached service packet from one of our service technicians when they visited in April. The customer stated they do not agree with the service tech's findings, however we believe this to be a roofing issue.

I am rejecting this response because: there was no caulking on the window that was leaking.  The roofing guy came out and after me asking him, he caulked that area with white caulking.  Our windows are tan.  Just asking them to come out and check the inside of the window because the lack of caulking may have damaged the wood inside. The window has not leaked since caulking was applied.  I believe that was the issue.  The window that was previously there and replaced with a window nation window never leaked!

Window Nation regrets that our customers have these feelings toward our business. Window Nation performed service on all nine windows on February 11, 2023. Window Nation did a service call on March 11, 2023, and verified all windows were installed properly. On March 13, 2023, the customer called, asking for compensation due to missing weather stripping. Window Nation asked for photos to review issues. On March 28, 2023, the customer texted that he was done with us and would not allow us on his property. Contracted for 4 windows to be replaced. The windows were done, but the job is horrible. The capping around the window is improperly installed with gaps, poor caulking, scratches, dents, etc. 1 of the windows already had a part fall off the first time it was opened. They refuse to come out to inspect the issues. They refuse to accommodate my needs as a handicapped customer to come when I can be available. They are insisting I take unpaid leave from work to fix their mistakes. For months I have tried to get them to come out and they will not.

Window Nation regrets the frustration surrounding the customer's project. ********************** had a service appointment on April 27, 2023, and performed the following service: the standard weather stripping was removed and replaced with heavier-duty weather stripping. Window Nation did also make the customer aware that the home is not properly insulated; this is outside of our scope of work. Window Nation is offering to go back to the customer's home if needed and appreciates our customer.

I am rejecting this response because:

the walls and attic are insulated I allowed the tech to pull one of the moldings on the windows that I told him I hadn't had a chance to re insulated around yet but all the other windows are foamed around and that is not what is causing drafts @ the window meeting rails especially since it's every window including one's installed into a cinder block wall that insulation would not be an issue to cause drafts I included a video showing smoke following an air current after they did the so called heavy duty weather striping that was only done on 1 window not all as I was told would be you can also see light coming thru the seals and now the windows are hard to open and close and the front is filling up with water after he put foam in the drains they keep trying to patch the issue and then they tell me the windows are within spec when they saw a 20 temp difference on the meeting rail the month before they came out to do the service on April 27th **** ***** came out prior to that service and felt the drafts at the windows and a couple days before that ***** a window nation installer came out to foam around the windows and said it was definitely something wrong with the windows the seals frame or something but wasn't an insulation issue before that February I had a vytex window supervisor out the went back to window nation  and said that it's because I do not have heat in my house and that was their excuse for several months till I got someone to listen and we are right back to the lies again it was the foam during the installation then it was the seals then its the foam o that's not the problem now its my house isn't insulated correctly I have r38 in the attic the garage floors are r30 the house wall are r13 as that's what they used when the house was built 1975 I had 20 year old ******** windows prior to these vytex windows and they were no where near as drafty I put plastic over the bathroom window and only attached it to their window frame so that takes my insulation out of the issue and it was loose when I installed it it would inflate and deflate when the wind would blow that's a problem with the windows a brand new Energy star certified window should not blow that much air in and out that it can inflate a piece of plastic that's attached to only the window the old. ******** windows. I put plastic on during the Winter and they never did that not one ever had air inflate or deflate through it so that tells me that there's. A problem with these new windows.  Not my? House not the insulation. It's the Windows are faulty and if they believe so whole Heartily in their product why won't they have someone come out? And test them the proof that they are within the specification of less than or equal to 0.3 air leakage as I been told several times that they would do I believe it's case they know there's a problem light shining thru a seal means air can come in also dust and gnats getting in the side channels means air can come in dust coming under the lower sash seal means air can also come in I have been trying to talk to them and everyone has been avoiding me I am having a hard time keeping my house to a Comfortable Temperature ever since these windows were installed. And now because they don't wanna deal with the air Leakage there are several other issues now with the windows The one is peeling away from the outside brick wall. The dining room window is extremely hard to open and close the front slider window that he put the new seals in and it's the only one he Add it the thicker seals to and drain foam Is now filling up with water and they don't wanna deal with it now So they don't even wanna service the windows anymore at all even though it Has A Lifetime Warranty against parts And 7 year labor. I don't know where else or how else to deal with this. I'm a ********** person on disability. And have bent ever backwards tearing. My house apart every time I need to come out trying to allow them to chance to fix the windows and now like last time. It's all my fault my home etc. Not their Junk product. Please call me if possible ********** so I can explain in better detail it's hard to explain how bad the problems are and what they haven't done that they said they would do and the windows are rated the way installed not after all the patch work that hasn't helped either  ps it won't let me send a longer video I do have multiple longer videos but 8 mb is not much also if they submit any documents from April 27th I did not receive or sign anything that day

      Sincerely,

      ***** *****

Installation work done on 1/26/2021 Customer ID: ********
Received one year limited labor warranty at that time, which included "Installation Materials - caulk, coil, insulation etc. "(quote).
In April 2023, after excessive rain, we noticed water dripping through the ceiling and framework from the sliding glass door in our family room. This caused water damage to the ceiling and carpeting below.
We contacted Window Nation and told them of the problem. Since the warranty had expired, we would have to pay "$150.00 Trip Fee", which we did. On May 3rd, 2023 a representative of Window Nation, Mr. Bradley ***** came to our home to inspect/repair the water problem.
After an extensive examination, and using a hose to spray the area and determine the source of the leak, he informed us that the sliding glass door ABOVE the family room and off of our deck
was never caulked and sealed at the time of the 1/26/21 installation. This caused the rain water to drip down to the family room door and ceiling above.
Window Nation has refused to talk to me, and because of the warranty expiration date, has refused my request to return the $150.00 Trip Fee.
In summation, we sent $150.00 to the company to tell us, that, due to their incomplete work of properly sealing and caulking the deck sliding glass door, which we were not aware of and covered under their warranty, we would not be reimbursed. This is a violation of the coverage guarantee under their warranty. In other words, because of the incompetence of their installation crew, we are out of luck and $150.00. In my estimation, they did NOT meet the terms stipulated in their warranty. I have pictures of the ceiling and wall damage caused by their neglect.
Mr. ***** DID caulk and seal the affected area on 5/3/23. The staining on the ceiling and door frame remains without resolution.

02/13/2023 purchase date of window and doors with $4532.00 down payment on windows and sliding door.03/30/2023 was the actual install date after giving me the run around after I took of work two days prior.Window install was good including the installers. The sliding door was installed with wrong colored handle and was to be a key locking handle from the outside and should have been black handle. Also was shipped without a sliding screen. My wife on 04/10/2023 contacted them to inquire about handle and screen and they said they would get back to her but have as of this time. On 04/18/2023 question was asked again to window nation and they said they would get back to us but have not. On 04/26/2023 sent question again and their response was it was ordered on 04/11/2023and they would give us an eta but have not as of this time. On 05/01/2023 call was put into them and asked about our screen and handle assembly and they said they are waiting on quote on screen and handle assembly after we were told that it was order on 04/11/2023. the total of this job was paid in full with cash was $13734.00. this was paid in full upon installation. If they can't finish the job please refund the price of the door because it is an incomplete door. This has went on far to long and we are tired of the run around.
