Zipcar unilaterally switched my free annual members in 2021 to a paid membership, and claims to have sent me an email in January 2021 to notify me of this impending charge. I never found that email, and the company never reported to me the activation of the annual membership in any subsequent email. Only this year I saw the annual membership for 2024 and discovered what they have done year after year in fraudulent silence. **************** annulled the fee for this year, but claims that Zipcar acted legally by introducing the annual fee 'with tacit assent' and will refuse refunding the fee. My driver license on file expired in 2016, I never touched a zipcar since then, these guys have pocketed more than 300$ without ever sending one email to confirm receipt or confirmation of payment - all perfectly orchestrated to make sure we would not realize the scam they organized.

CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT AFTER YOU CANCEL ZIPCAR My son signed up for a Zipcar account while at college in *****. He signed up in July 2023 and it worked well for him. He canceled on April 19th 2024 via the website. He was continually charged $11.84 a month (04/25 and 05/25) for "Zipcar Premium Protect" insurance. There was no way to dispute the charge online since his account had been canceled. He went round and round with them. I finally called them myself and got them to admit, "There must have been a system glitch," and agreed to refund the charges. We are hoping that we won't be charged beginning 06/25 but time will tell.(leaving 3 stars because the car rental experience was very convenient)

I cancelled my membership online -- but was still charged an annual membership. I didn't realize until I saw my credit card statement. I called Zipcar help desk and was told that the cancellation CONFIRMATION that I received via email was not in fact a confirmation. That cancellations had to be double confirmed over the phone to be real. Terrible business practice.

I had to reapply twice for the application. The first time it was said that the application was denied because the membership fee wasn't being charged though the "MONTHOFF" discount credit was applied that waived the initial membership fee. After speaking with the agent and the bank that showed the charge had been applied and recredited to my credit card I was advised to make another profile and re-submit my application. I did so and processed the payment, showing on my banking statement that it had been applied. My application was denied again and the agents instructed me to speak with my bank to be sure there was no holds or locks on my card. The bank confirmed that the payment had been put through and that there was no issue, the money was out of my account. I called back to ZipCar and the agent hung up on me after I pressed that the issue was not with my bank and that I would like to know what was the reason for the denial. Calling back what was my 7th time I spoke with another agent and she was unable to verify why my application was denied saying "we have an API that verifies driver information and it can be denied for number or reasons." I requested to speak with a supervisor or manager, ****, and waited for 40 minutes until being told she could not take my call and that she would eventually give me a call back. I do not understand why my application was denied as my record is spotless, nothing is expired, and I met all requirements posted yet literally less than 1 minute after applying was swiftly denied by the **** System". I spent 3 hours trying to resolve this situation and not one person could give me a valid reason or resolution to this issue. Honestly exhausted and do not care what the reason was for the denial. I would like a refund for the application fee as there is no way it could have honestly been vetted and for the number of hours I spent I am very disappointed not one single person could give me an honest reason.

Apparently ZipCar has outsourced to ************ where the customer service is atrocious! I was simply attempting to reactivate my account and was told by the representative that I would need to start a new application. This was incorrect info which created a conflict because I already had an account. For two weeks I have been getting the run-around and I feel they are intentionally being uncooperative. The last time I called in it sounded like they were having a party and when I mentioned it the representative just hung up on me. Upon calling back the same 2 reps always answered and put me on hold never to return. Employees in ************ are NOT going to be invested in the company or the customers, the representive even mentioned that she doesn't even know too much about ZipCar because they do not have them in ************. PLEASE DO NOT OUTSOURCE YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE TO COUNTRIES WHERE THE REPRESENTATIVES HAVE NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR UNPROFESSIONALISM.

This company is horrible . I called due to an over charge from 1.65 to ***** and they are refusing to refund my money. I called multiple times and was hung up on and told verbatim when asked to speak to a supervisor that she wouldnt connect me and then proceeded to hang up. I could hear others in their call center laughing very unprofessional and unethical. I am doing this post because of the rude unprofessional attitude and response. So now that they refuse to refund my money even though I didnt use or pick up a car. I intend to hire an attorney just for they principal.

$214 for less than 6 hours. Booked 10:30 -2:30 for what was supposed to be $81. I was running behind and went to extend in the app (2 hours) for additional $39. After updating card information I believed extension was successful. 3:03 I checked and saw time still showed 2:30 pm. At this point the app would not let me extend due to a 30 minute block on 3:00 hour. I drove to return the car which took 25 minutes and stopped to fill up on gas with card. Due to reservation being expired, the vehicle would not start (after receiving gas) and I needed to call support who booked me for 4-4:30. I was charged $8.34 just to unlock the vehicle and drop off to location less than two minutes away and charged $100 late fee.I believed this to be a convenient option, but 2nd time using app will be the last.

Zipcar is seriously one of the worst companies! Specifically in the Baltimore area, the cars ALWAYS stink of smoke, there are always maintenance issues (no windshield wiper fluid, low tire pressure, check engine light on, etc) but if you are two minutes late bringing the car back, they want to charge you $50. They can go F-themselves. Zipcar needs to be shut down. They need to go after the people who keep smoking in the cars and leave people who actually take care of the vehicle while it's in their care, alone.

I was charged a $115 late fee for a car I never took out. Zipcar has not helped me and given me the runaround for months. I can't even get them to remove my credit card info from my account so they can't scam me again. Do yourself a favor and use a rental car company -- Zipcar is not cheaper in the end, they will take your money and there's nothing you can do about it,

Use a rental company if you can. This satellite car rental is the worst and inconvenient. The customer service is horrible. Do not rent from them.
